After a horrible hair experience at a different salon, I decided to go to Salon David E. I've been eyeing Lauren's IG because I was in awe with her work!! I don't even know why I didn't go to her first... the first "color stylist" I went to didn't look reliable I guess you can say.. compared to Lauren. I walked in nervous of course because of what happened with my previous hair appointment, but right when I walked in, I was greeted. They're really friendly! I had only ever followed Lauren on Instagram and was really impressed by all her work that I made a last minute appointment to get my hair dyed yesterday. For my first time, I didn't know what to expect of the salon or even my stylist but they made me feel right at home, even my boyfriend who was falling asleep throughout the process. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she advised me to keep my base color for low maintenance but just to make me happy, she made enough of a change that it was noticeable. I walked in this place because the salon I always go to was completely booked. An man that looked like in his late 40's was who was assigned to cut my hair. I asked for a trim on just the length (damaged ends 1/2 inch) The man cut about 2 inches off! (maybe a little more)My hair is is medium length, so of course it was obvious he cut a LOT more than requested! I had my 2kids with me, and they were crying in the stroller asking to leave. I didn't get to look at the hair cut In the salon, because the old man didn't even offer me the mirror to take a look at my hair, and my kids wanted to leave so I just went paid and left. When I came home and saw my hair I was in disbelief! It was extremely short! I couldn't even style it! It was a weird uneven layers type of hair cut! Very disappointed with the service I received. I made an appointment with Lauren and today she cancels my appointment one hour before my scheduled time. I left work early, and I wanted my hair done before leaving for a week to Vegas. She sent me a text, not even a phone call that she was not feeling well which I understand, but I texted her my situation and told her that this was my only date available and if someone else can help me. I never got a response so I drove to the Salon to see if someone else can help me and there was only one person there which I'm assuming is the owner. He couldn't help me he said he was booked and I left very disappointed. This would of been my first time coming here...but didn't even make it to the chair. Clients don't need problems they need solutions. Now I'm scrambling to see who can do my hair in such short notice very disappointing experience. After a mishap at a different salon because they didnt record my appointment, I went straight here due to reviews. The salon was pretty busy when I came in but they were willing to take me in. I only needed a haircut so it wasnt going to take a long time. The staff is very friendly and nice. The salon is bright and simple unlike some salons with different posters from the early 00s with curtains that havent been changed collecting dust. The price is pretty good too. I was referred by a co-workers years ago after seeing how beautiful her hair looked when she showed up at work. I had mentioned to her that i would go all the way to downtown la to get my brazilian blowout and hair dye, and she was like go here instead, you won't regret it. She was absolutely right. First and foremost the salon is really pretty, always clean and neat. You are always greeted by Lauren and her father which by the way did my hair once, and does a really great job as well. But lauren is my go to girl, she has been doing my Brazilian blowout for a few years now, and everytime is amazing. Thanks to her my hair is so long, and i get so many compliments, because nowadays woman pay for hair extensions to have the length i have. 1. Bought a Groupon for shampoo, condition, & cut. After my shampoo, I was was taken back to the seat to get my hair cut. I asked about my conditioning, so he put some oil on my hair. Said it was a leave in conditioner. It very well might have been what was really offered in the Groupon, but that's not what I was expecting as Ive been conditioned before. 2. I asked for layers, and couldn't really tell initially since I got my hair cut shorter than I normally would & he curled it, but I now realize that my hair is all one length. I asked for layers because I have thin hair & I wanted volume. Really wasn't what I wanted. 3. I got bangs, they're were a bit uneven, but that's ok, I fixed them at home. I had the Japanese straightening done. When I left the salon my hair was fried, breaking off, and smelled burnt. I had to cut over 8 inches off of my hair. I asked if I could have a refund he said he doesn't do refunds. It's been over 5 months and I have had to trim my hair every couple weeks to even out the breakage. I had a style and color in mind, but was open to the salon's professional opinion. I was greeted right away, regardless of how busy the ladies were. Pictures on my phone helped with what I wanted and knowing what's been done to my hair (in my case, dyed it with a boxed dye) prior to getting my hair done helped Brianna understand what she was going to deal with. Small family owned, and David and Lauren are very nice and welcoming. I've been coming here for over a year now to get haircuts, and Lauren always does a great job. She takes her time with you, and will answer any questions you may have about their services. When booking an appointment, you have to text Lauren, but if she doesn't reply right away, just try again the next day. She is the only one doing the bookings, so if they're busy, she may overlook, or miss your text. Took me a week to make my last appointment, but she is worth the wait! read more

I searched for the best balayage near me and I found this cute lil salon across the street from Morgan Park in Baldwin Park. I read lots of reviews about a girl named Lauren and how she does amazing work. Looked at the photos and I sure wasn't disappointed. I called and she sounded so sweet on the phone. We exchanged numbers so that I can show her what I wanted done. Gave me an estimate and an estimated time frame. When I got there I was greeted immediately and felt very welcomed. Everyone there is so nice. We were all in each other's conversations haha but not in a bad way. Lauren and her assistant (I apologize, I dont remember her name but super sweet) were so nice. This is an updated review: So I came back here after the co-owner reached out to me. The girl who worked on my hair before doesn't work here anymore & they have moved to a bigger location within the same strip so that definitely makes a difference. It's been almost 2 years since I came back & it was worth it! Lauren was very attentive of my needs since I have very fine hair. My hair has way more life now thanks to her. I know that hair looks best after a salon visit, but mine really looks better without having it professionally styled too! Which means she did cut it properly for my hair type. It's a great place but would have been better if my stylist gave me more style suggestions/options & more personal opinions on what would suit me better (hence one star off). But I was very clueless with what I wanted so I just played it safe. I wish I had requested more of a change to my hair style but I guess I wanted to stay safe with a basic 5 inch, long layer cut. If she had suggested a different & new style, I would have gone for it! Overall, it is a place I would go to again if there's a nice deal going on which they sometimes do. So I went and asked for a certain look and trusted her on my hair..first of all she very informal, I felt like she was treating me like a doll rather than a client. She was cleaning herself on my robe that she puts on, brushed my hair super careless. When she dyed my hair my face and my ears were all in dye I had to get home and shower.. and the look I wanted was not what I had pictured. Felt dirty and unhappy:( her assistant or trainer was a lot more careful and was concerned if I was ok. I'm sorry to say but i don't think I'll ever come back. Okay so my daughter has been wanting to get her hair done for a while now. So I finally agreed to her getting some blond streaks in her hair and to just keep her natural nice brown hair and only adding some blond highlights. So like the good mother I am, I take my daughter to this local salon thinking that she's going to love it. Let me tell you honey, I was WRONG. When I called A man named David answered and was high key rude. So I was just like oh whatever. Then when I arrived there david was. He greeted us and my daughter showed him a few pictures of what she wanted and he said he can do that and started dying her hair. Keep in mind this took LITERALLY all day. When it was finally done, I can see that my daughter wanted to cry. It looked TERRIBLE and looked nothing like the pictures that she showed him. We left with nothing but a bad hair dye job. On the other hand, tell me why david wanted $350 for the dye & the work he did. First of all it was ugly. Second of all that's overpriced HELLA because it was bad & not AT ALL what we wanted. My daughter did not like already and on top of that the day after she went to school, the kids were making fun of how terrible it was and calling her names like "carrot top" "raggedy ann" "tigger the tiger" "carrot head ass" "carrot cake" and the list goes on. My daughter came back crying as if she haven't hated it enough because of how ugly it was and what an horrendous, horrible, hideous, job DAVID did, she hated it even more now. Therefore I contacted David asking if we can fix it. This mf was so mad for NO REASON. He did not want to fix it or give me my money back. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE ESPECIALLY DAVID GOD HES SO BAD AT WHAT HE DOES AND HES RUDE. He did something that looked nothing like what my daughter wanted and turned her hair orange. How slow can someone be? Especially if they're so called "Professionals". I could've done my daughters hair better than david did. So what I am trying to say in a nutshell is don't go here. you'll actually leave crying. And if you do go here, whatever you do, DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT let DAVID do your hair.
