Also, fear of scissor-happy hairdressers who take off too much hair and don't listen to your wants and needs. You may ask, "Why Mandi, what caused you to get haircutophobia?" I'll tell you a story. I was four, and I had lovely long, long, curls. My older brother was growing bored of cutting the hair of his teddy bear, so he thought it would be wise to attempt his newfound skills on his kid sister. Guess who started kindergarten that year with an awful bowl haircut to her ears? Yep. This girl. Sigh. As such, ever since that fateful day, my quest for the perfect hairdresser has been on. I realized I had bookmarked this place some time ago, and with an upcoming vacation I decided to call. I asked the receptionist who she recommended for long hair, and she said "Michael". Conveniently, he was available for an appointment the following day at 10:30 am. I came in this morning and met Michael, who recognized me from Sephora days, and I recognized him as well. We were off to a great start, and I immediately felt comfortable. He talked to me about what I wanted and we had our game plan. This is the first time ever at a salon that the person who cut my hair, also washed and blew out my hair. I was VERY impressed with this, as many salons will have one person shampoo you, then you get your haircut, and sometimes another person will blow out your hair. I have A LOT of hair, and I knew it can be a pain to have to blow dry but Michael loved it and said it was one of his favorite parts of doing hair. Umm...then wouldja mind coming by my place every a.m. to do it? Pretty please? I never felt rushed and the total time spent from start to finish was about an hour and fifteen minutes. Michael gave me an AMAZING haircut, I feel like a total superstar. Watch out, Beyoncè! Mandi's in town! This is one of the best, if not THE best, hair cut I have ever had. I've received many compliments already, my parents loved it, the boy loves it, I love it. And as an added bonus, I ran into a few people that I hadn't seen in a very long time at Target afterwards looking fab-u-lous. Don't ya just love that feeling? But no, when i tried to book with John again, I got a personal call saying I wasn't allowed back--because I didn't reply to her response on my review. If a business owner can't handle honest feedback without making it personal and petty, it says a lot more about their professionalism than any haircut ever could. since i can't reply to owners response i'll add it here. Thanks to the owner for confirming everything I said. Instead of accepting a customer's feedback gracefully, she chose to write a paragraph blaming my hair type, another salon, and me for not replying to her review response. I made my appointment for a full head of highlights weeks in advanced. Val suggested I highlight my crown since the hair at the nape of neck had some breakage. I was ok with that but, she still could have given me at least a half a head of highlights. The breakage was minimal, at the base of my neck and unnoticeable. I told Val I loved her Instagram and wanted exactly that - icy white highlights. The colorist I previously went to made my hair orange and I said I am looking to avoid that. She nodded as if she understood what I was saying. I asked for a blow out when we are done but, Val said she didn't have time and was running behind. I don't know how that is possible since she just cut my appointment in half by only highlighting my crown and not my whole head. Throughout the appointment Val seemed preoccupied and was on her cell phone most of the time. She seemed like she was rushing not because she was behind but because she wanted to get out of there like she had somewhere else she needed to be. I left the salon with a wet head and paid $275 for my highlights in my crown area. When I got home, I blew out my hair and noticed I had brassy orange spots throughout. I messaged Val on Instagram letting her know and she became pretty defensive and unhelpful. She was arguing with me that the orange I was seeing is from the previous colorist, she said I could come in and she would put more highlights in. She said she would get back to me with a time and day .. obviously that never happened. She just didn't seem to care at all and the NEW highlights were done incorrectly. Below is a photo of the freshly done color by Val and my old color done 4 months prior. I also posted a photo of my hair after 2 washes - the toner/gloss is clearly not there anymore and the brass/orange is even more pronounced. Like I said this was my first time there and my last. I wish Val cared and took her time with my hair like the work she post on her Instagram but, I did not get that customer service.

Today I decided to go there and dye my hair. It was strange as they called me two days ago to let me know to come earlier and that someone else from the person that I had booked online would take care of me. The person who was dying my hair for a year now is not there anymore. Most of the people who were taking care of me before are not there anymore. Today it was the worst experience ever! I am really disappointed with the service. My hair looks awful. I wish I have not used them. My advice as I run my own business--The staff should be more caring about customers and should not experiment with other people's hair. The difference of colors on my hair was absolutely obvious. My hair before was a clear blond color and now the roots are yellow/brown! They were pretending that was all great instead of trying to fix the problem before me paying and leaving the premises. As soon as they told me that I was done with the styling and hair treatment, I approached the register to pay and it was there I made the complaint. The staff knew in advance that they performed malpractice on my hair treatment. They were hoping that I would not have noticed but I stayed silent until I go to the register. I understand that people can make mistakes but no one has owned up to it to say I am sorry. They were making me feel that they were the victims when indeed they had control of my hair and head. If you love and respect your hair, you will not commit color suicide to your hair.

I want something with volume and texture, and I always walk out of there with flat hair that feels dirty in a day. It's just discouraging. I won't go back.
