My first visit to Salon Cipolla was ok. By "Ok" I mean it took 4.75 hours for a relaxer, the woman doing my hair refused to wash out the chemicals when I asked, despite me letting her know multiple times that my scalp was burning, she was very messy when she finally did wash it out, water all over my face, neck, back, and ears, no concern for protecting my hair as she would go over the same piece of hair about 10 ten times while blow drying and flat ironing). However, that was still nothing compared to this evening's visit. I called at exactly 4pm as a last resort since my usual Salon was booked. I was told to come at 6pm. I arrived on time and was not greeted upon entering. After waiting for 40 mins I was approached by the owner and told to "Come on" (great customer service). She started applying the relaxer to my roots and at first she seemed attentive, asking if it was itching anywhere and making sure to wipe any areas on my face or ears where the perm had gotten. When she was done applying the treatment (which took much longer than it should have) she set the timer to 10 minutes and went to assist another customer. At 5 minutes I let her know that it was starting to tingle and asked her to wash it out (by this time sections of my hair had the chemicals in them for about 20 mins since the application took so long). Instead of taking me to the sink to wash it out she got her comb with the perm still on it and began to comb through the roots (I never understood why people do this because it disturbs the scalp and makes the customer more prone to chemical burns). I asked politely 2 more times for it to be washed out as the back was really burning. She took me to the sink and started to wash out the back of my hair, avoiding the front half (when I asked for her to wash it out I meant my whole head). I let her know that the front was also burning and asked if she could wash it all out. She said "Ok" then reached for the perm comb and started combing through my scalp at the front. At this point I am very mad. Not only is it burning more than ever (since she's now scraping it is) but she is completely ignoring my request. I'm not a newcomer when it comes to relaxers. They are made of extremely strong chemicals and can burn through skin easily. I had to ask her two more times (RIDICULOUS) to PLEASE wash it out as it feels like my scalp is on fire. She finally obliges and what should feel like a relief to my scalp is now almost worse than having the chemicals still on because around my edges and throughout other parts of my scalp are raw from the harsh chemicals. She then shampoos my hair 5 times to get rid of it all and applies conditioner twice. After the second time she leaves (without saying anything) to go assist another customer who is waiting to have rollers taken out. I expected for her to take out the woman's rollers and return to finish washing out the conditioner but no. I hear her blow dryer turn on and she is actually starting to blow out the other woman's hair. Now I get that hairdressers have to split their time between customers but I am literally sitting with my head in the sink, soaking wet with conditioner still in my hair. Only when I raise my head to see if she is even going to acknowledge me that I realize that my entire back is soaked. I'd already been sitting there for about a half hour (way longer than I should have) and no matter how many times I to try to her attention she continues to ignore me and chat in Spanish. About 45 mins in I get up to text my mom and husband to let them know what's going on (God forbid I made plans; it's now past 9 pm, 3 HRS AFTER I GOT THERE AND MY HAIR IS STILL SOAKED! A RELAXER SHOULD NOT TAKE MORE THAN 2.5 HRS) only when she sees me stand up does she say "One minute sweetie". Not one minute, but 15 mins later she finishes with her customer (blow dry and flat iron) she comes running over saying "Sorry sweetie". She sloppily detangles and rinses me and takes me to the chair. I tell her I do not want it roller set since it's now 9:30. Realizing that I am extremely upset she and another woman (yes, two blow dryers) start blowing it out and they both short circuit. After multiple attempts to get the dryers working I let her know that I am going to leave. I get my stuff and head to the door and the other worker says "Wait, you still have clips in your hair!". I take them out and open the door to leave and she shouts "Hey! You can't leave without paying!" Though they didn't deserve one red cent I went back and in and let them know I was NOT paying full price. The other woman was EXTREMELY rude and arguing with me as if I no reason to be upset. $50 and 4 hrs later I leave with wet, curly hair and the worst salon experience of my life. Please do not support Salon Cipolla. It may be partly my fault for giving them 2 chances too many but they clearly do not value their customers and are only looking to make a buck. read more
