I love going to the salon to get my hair done. That's because of Azan's. I've experienced services…read morethat I didn't get at other black-owned salons I've been to, which may shock some. 1. My appointment starts on time. As soon as I enter and register, I'm taken around back to start my hair. I'm not sitting waiting for my stylist for 45 minutes nor am I waiting between services. I've once had my hair air dry while waiting for someone to be free to blow dry it. This DOESN'T happen at Azan's. 2. I don't spend all day at the salon. I can actually plan other appointments/events for my day. 3. They don't charge black market kidney prices. My wallet is not as badly affected and they have special pricing for students. 4. My hair has never been healthier. I relax my hair and using chemicals strips it of natural moisture, usually causing it to break and appear like it's not growing. However, my stylist, Karin, really takes care of my hair. I know I'm in good hands and it shows...right there on my head! For these reasons, I keep going back to Azan's.

I live in NY so I have a U.S. bank and wasn't able to pay the $20 deposit because I don't have e-Transfer, but I emailed the salon and they said it was no problem and not to worry about it. I was able to use my Visa credit card (they also take Mastercard) to pay. If you do pay the deposit, $20 is deducted from your total. The hair washing station is really relaxing, with lie-flat chairs so your neck doesn't hurt and sparkling lights on the ceiling. I'm so happy with my cut ($80 CAD before tip) and I think I got a great value for the level of service. I highly recommend Sam and this salon, his technique was so meticulous and I love my cut.

Our appointment was for 11 am but at 1030, Amanda text us that Bella was stuck on a GO Bus and wouldn't be able to start until 1130. Normally that's not a big issue, but I was dealing with really tight timelines because of nap times and attention spans, so I couldn't just burn 30 more minutes than expected. I explained this to Amanda, and she said if I could get there soon, she would cut my daughter's hair. The salon opens at 11, but Amanda started with us at 1045. The level of customer service was unreal. Friendly, accommodating, apologetic and I got what I came there for - a sophisticated haircut for my daughter that wasn't just a "who cares you're a kid" cut. The salon is beautiful inside, the sparkling lights about the hair washing station was a nice touch. At the very end, Bella did show up and she seemed nice as well, but Amanda really came through for us. We will be back!!

Toby was helpful in terms of giving out suggestions. He started by asking questions on the kind of lifestyle I have so that he could give proper suggestions. They're very experienced with Asian hair and really take their time when you first meet with them for a consultation. I highly recommend to book an appointment prior to coming here. As soon as you arrive, you'll be offered a cup of tea (hot or iced) and magazines while you wait. I have been getting my hair styled by Frances and I cannot rave about her enough. She has helped me take such good care of my hair and does her best to give you what you came for. They will give you the price prior to actually doing anything to your hair, walk you through what they are doing, and go out of their way to make you comfortable. They even brought me a phone charger since I was sitting there for 7 hours. I can confidently say that my hair colour that has been done by Frances has been phenomenal - I'm always in love with the end result and I really trust her when it comes to giving me a new colour. In conclusion, yeah, it's super expensive, but you pay for what you get. If you want a unique hair colour, get it done at NC.

It was my first time at NC Salon. I've always heard about this salon and knew of the great services…read moreit offered but to be honest, always shied away because of the price list. Last week, I decided to get some major length off and wanted to treat myself so I decided to book a haircut. The time and day I wanted, there was only a director's cut available, $65 for cut and wash. Let me tell you, best decision I have ever made for myself and my hair. Originally, I wanted to have a "V" shape at the back of my head because I always knew that was what looked best on me. My stylist Joe suggested that I had a wider V, almost like a U instead because of my face shape. I was in awe with the techniques Joe used on my hair and left very happy. You can tell why Joe had the title "Director" under his belt. The staff there was very friendly and they even made my waiting guest some tea! Worth mentioning, the scalp and neck massage was a bonussssss and much needed during this stressful school time! Will definitely be back again! A week later and I am still in love with my hair and cannot rave enough about this salon.
