Finally. 4 years later I've finally found someone who can cut my hair. I'm not saying other places weren't good. They just weren't great or even knew the style cut I wanted. I found Salon Surrey from someone I just met who had not only had amazing color but a perfect haircut that moved so beautifully and I just had to know where she went. Her stylist is Kailea, obviously an amazing stylist but when I reached out to the salon through Yelp (response time also amazing) and asked if there was a stylist who could do a butterfly or wolf cut, the owner recommended Jenna so I trusted that and booked it. So glad I did. Not only did Jenna know what a butterfly cut was, it was her favorite cut and DID she nail it! So over the moon with my new cut. I booked an appointment for my daughter right away with Kailea as she had an opening for the day we needed as Jenna was booked. But I've seen Kailea's work first hand and know that she will be in great hands. I don't think you can go wrong with anyone at this salon but Jenna and Kailea are brilliant stylist. Thank you Jenna for the best cut and head massage (did I mention they do a nice little massage when they wash your hair) I've ever had since moving to South Carolina. read more

Do not recommend for hair color I do not recommend this salon for any type of hair coloring. I did give them two stars, as they did try to correct the problem initially, however after two tries, My hair still looks awful. I don't want anyone in the same boat as myself, after spending $400 at Salon Surrey, I have another appointment at a salon to fix the damage caused here. I am now close to spending to $700 on a full highlight that should have cost around $250 or $300. I also have never complained about a salon service before, I have never had to. I don't want to give the stylists name as the intent on this review is not to embarrass anyone, but to warn anyone reading this to consider other salons. They use a color called keratin complex which is not something that is typically used by other salons. As I was looking for a color correction, I stressed that I really needed a knowledgeable stylist, I was assured by the owner that the stylist was very experienced. (there is no receptionist, the owner answers most calls) I don't think this was the case, and I feel very misled on the skill level of the stylists here. During the initial appointment, when my hair was washed, the roots of my hair turned bright orange. The stylist was very confused by this, so she put color on my roots after the highlight. Afterwards, my roots were much warmer than I wanted or expected but she told me to 'go home and wash with purple shampoo" after a week or so, the color turned very orange, I called the salon, and they did offer for me to come in and have them fix the problem at no charge which I did appreciate came in for a second consult, I thought there would be general concern, I was a little shocked to find the owner there getting her own roots done, not showing any real concern. Needless we booked the appointment again, to say when I left the second time there was really no change. The stylist again said "go home and wash with purple shampoo" I tried to do as instructed, but after 3 weeks of trying to deal with this, I asked for a refund or a partial refund, the owner blamed me for the situation, saying I I signed a waiver stating I will not ask for a refund if I don't like the color. She also blamed it on possible home products, shampoos, water that I might be using, She also stated I waited too long to contact them. It's possible the color they use did not take well to my hair. It's possible the stylist was not as skilled as I was led to believe. It's very hard to tell. Please keep in mind this is supposed to be an ash blonde all over highlight, with a slightly dark root. Of course make your own opinions, but bottom line is I spent $400 and this is what my hair looks like. This has been a very emotional ordeal for me, and to be fair the owner did offer a third time to come in and see if they can fix the damage. However this will be the 3rd major process in a month, not to mention I just do not have any confidence in this salon. read more

Katrina was amazing! I rarely go to the salon to get my hair done, I had a naturally curly tapered cut that was maintained by my sons' barber. However the style I wanted to achieve required a feminin touch. I searched several social media sites and the internet looking for a stylist in the CSRA. I came across Katrina's Instagram page and her work spoke for itself so I called to make an appointment. Katrina was amazing! She was very patient and attentive. She listened to all of my concerns and answered every question I had...she was very knowledgeable about hair in general and also about the other services offered at the salon that inquired about. I showed Katrina pictures of the style I wanted to achieve and pictures of what I didn't. We discussed the style and she let me know step by step what she'd be doing to my hair. And Katrina nailed it...the style came out better than I imagined. I left that salon feeling like a new woman. I can't say it enough but Katrina is truly amazing! She has been my color/stylist for the past year and she has given me nothing but stellar service and impressive results each and every time so I would follow her anywhere! I'm so glad she found this salon to be her new work-home because it's closer to me and the environment is very welcoming! It is quite cozy and has a posh/fresh look to the way the place is set up. I love how they had the color bar was set up in the center of the salon. I came in to see Sandy for the first time for highlights/root touch up. I had gotten my hair done elsewhere and it didn't come out as I wanted; more ashy blonde than platinum highlights. Not only was she able to get me in at short notice, but she also helped me get the look I wanted without more chemicals and bleach. Thus saving my hair in the process and cheaper too :) I was so impressed with her knowledge and the fact she cared about my hair to suggest a cheaper option. I highly recommend this salon overall. I ultimately left unhappy but I didn't complain at the time. They processed my hair color twice even though I was happy with the original results. I guess they felt it didn't cover up the original color? Either way, my scalp was on fire and my hair is still dry and brittle. I also had a manicure and by the second day every nail had split in an odd way. No real idea why. I likely won't be back. It's a shame because I loved the salon. read more

Having worked in the beauty industry, I recognize talent when I see it! I've been growing my bangs out for at least 9 months and haven't had a haircut in 6 months. Needless to say, my hair was shapeless and needed a lot of blending. Mackenzie was professional, warm and technically sound. She really did a great job blending my grown out bangs and listening to what I wanted. It's not common to find a Stylist with all those attributes and she's a Master Colorist too. I'm pumped to have balayage down with her in the near future! P.S. She did my friends hair too and it's curly and coarse. Mine is the opposite, straight and fine. This salon is fine if you have straight hair, but I would never get my hair done here again. The owner swore that stylists at this salon could blow out and straighten curly hair. I told the owner I could come on another day if there was someone who was better at straightening curly hair, but she insisted that I come and see the stylist she recommended. I even showed the stylist an old photo of me and what I wanted my hair to look like. The stylist seemed to be bored or tired halfway through doing my hair because after she carefully blew out my hair the right way, she just started blow drying and fluffing up the rest of my wet curls (kind of like when you watch your dog get dried at the groomer). Then, she flat ironed my hair. She didn't pay attention to what my roots looked like. Obviously, they wouldn't be straight since she didn't even blow out the section properly. I had to wear my hair in a pony tail. It was a waste of over $100, and, honestly, I wouldn't have cared about the money if it was just done right. When my coworkers saw how the stylist "straightened my hair," I became a spectacle because people kept pointing to my head and saying what the stylist did wrong. They "felt sorry for me" and gave me referrals to salons with stylists who can actually straighten curly hair. I've been to two different stylists to get my hair straightened and I'm not impressed. This was really a two star experience, but I'm giving three stars because there was nothing wrong with my trim (done after my hair was straightened) and I'm sure they can style straight hair. read more

So, I will begin this review by saying that I'm happy with the end result and Carmen and Allie were very sweet. However, getting there was kind of a journey. I went in a natural dark brunette with some highlights from the summer hoping to go to a brownish black with some subtle highlights. The root color goes on, so far so good. They come in and start doing more highlights--wait, what? I wanted to go darker. I decide to relax and trust the process, except the process is BUSTED and I end up lighter than I started. She puts a second toner on and I basically look the same as when I came in. Oy vey. I'm trying to explain to them that like, this looks absolutely nothing like what I described or the picture I showed them, but I have a pathological need to be liked so I'm just like haha...umm...I did want to go darker than this? Why did we put so many highlights in? They put a darker root color on and cover up some of the highlights and I come out of the whole thing 5 hours later reasonably happy with the color, but mostly feeling too bad about making them work on my hair for 5 hours to say otherwise. My main complaint is that they charged me for the highlights that were both unwanted and unnecessary: I don't think it's fair that I'm paying for their mistake, but yknow. Im sure that painting my hair for 5 hours straight wasn't on anyones bucket list, so it's fine. Thank you Carmen and Allie! read more

I went here for a cut and color (with a picture for reference) after I didn't like the last salon I visited. Well, the color turned out fine, but my haircut turned out uneven and I have what might be called layers. These layers are really just a chunk of hair at the back of my head that are not blended in at all, so there is basically a section of hair at the back of my head that is roughly two inches shorter than the rest of my hair. Needless to say, I will not be going here again. read more

Scott did an amazing job, this review isn't toward him. I would 100% give him alone a 5 star review. I don't typically write reviews, but the more I've thought about this, the more it blows my mind. I went in wanting my black hair touched up and my money pieces lightened. We did a test strand for the money pieces that ended up taking an hour which is no ones fault. But while the test strand was on, Scott got someone else's opinion to see if we should continue with the bleach. It was a lady with pink hair and a pixi cut. She didn't say we shouldn't do it, but she said "you need to have her sign a consent form" so I pitched in and said if there is ANY possibility of it seriously damaging my hair, I don't want to do it and I want to dye everything black. (keep in mind, my hair was already black, i just wanted it touched up) When I said that, she said "yeah it will probably fall out" so obviously I wasn't going to do that. So I said I wanted it all black and she said "can we not do black?". A little taken back, I said I want black. She continued to tell Scott to use DEMI PERMANENT dark BROWN hair dye. At the end of my service, I was charged $270 for him to dye my hair one color with temporary dye, and not even the color I wanted. I didn't get any highlights, balayage, not even a trim. and I was charged TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY DOLLARS! I've been to many salons, and the most that I have ever paid is $150 for balayage, highlights, bleaching, etc. read more
