Also worried I'd get a bad, expensive cut, which has happened in the past. Kimberlee was my stylist. She looked through some Pinterest images I had saved and was receptive, honest, and asked great questions. She put me at ease by being a great listener. The cut and color turned out beautiful! I really couldn't believe how great it looked on me. It's a rarity that I post a selfie on FB, but this time I felt compelled to. Kimberlee is a warm, wonderfully talented stylist. 100% professional. SO....I go to Valerie, who by far best highlights(Full/half) I have ever had. I am a dirty blonde and I get highlights half and full depending on the year, and she is the best colorist I have been to in town. Some girls go too blonde(White) some too Orange! What a find! We are new to the area. I was quite concerned about finding someone who would be able to cut my wavey hair. Christ

I went to Salon A after months without a cut due to Covid. 5 stars all around, seriously. I had made an appointment at another place, which was canceled on me last minute for the 4th time. I got fed up and stopped rescheduling and instead called Salon A, hoping they could get me in same day. The woman who answered the phone was really kind, listened to my story, and said that there was only one stylist who she thought *might* be able to get me in, but that she was doing a wedding so it wasn't a sure thing. She took down my number and said she'd get back to me. Within 5 minutes, she called me back and they got me in. When I got there, I was a little early, and was told that the stylist would be back soon, so I waited. Upon looking around, I could see that these people truly care about safety. The chairs were set at least 6 feet a part, I didn't have my measuring tape on me. There was hand sanitizer, everyone wore their masks, and they took my temperature upon checking in. The woman who cut my hair (forgive me if I'm wrong but I think her name was Valerie) did an excellent job. She was kind and good to talk to. I dont know for sure, but it kinda seemed like she doesn't usually work Saturdays, that she came in because I had called needing a haircut. She did exactly what I asked and I couldn't be happier with the results. read more

I discovered this salon when I became a customer of Doran (the esthetician who whose room is in the salon). The owner (April) is very friendly (and I personally observed) has good customer service even with annoying customers. While getting my hair cut by Kimberlee, I watched April work a miracle on a head of older, flat, straight, thinning hair. For that alone, I would not be afraid to have her be my stylist. But, I was fortunate enough to get Kimberlee. I have type 3 (spiral but not kinky) curly hair and was looking for someone to give me a cut that would bring out the curl and creat a great shape with volume. Kimberlee did just that. I shows her some pictures of the shape I was going for and she consulted with me throughout the whole process. She even verified twice before she cut off a few inches (I used to hate when stylists wouldn't, and you'd go in for a trim and end up w hair 4 inches shorter). She took extra time to style at the end which I really appreciated. Overall, the shop is clean and simple but modern looking. The prices are more than reasonable for the service you get (wash, cut, style were included in the price). I would definitely recommend the shop, and while I don't know about the other stylists, I'd recommend Kimberlee and April without hesitation. Park in the lot on Tyler & Franklin. She has never canceled late, no-showed and has been patient with me when I was running late a few times. I started getting haircuts by Valerie a few years ago at another Salon. It was a total game changer for a guy who ALWAYS wore a ball cap. I was never really happy with the appearance of my hair. I would typically go anywhere and say "just give it a trim, all I care is that it isn't sticking out of my hat all crazy like." On my first visit with her, Val insisted. "Yeah, lets give you a real cut and make you look good without the hat too." She has never once disappointed! The hat more than often stays at home, my hair gets done daily before work now, and I receive compliments often! I've followed her to Salon A, and in my eyes it was an atmosphere upgrade. Years ago, I went to a stylist in Phoenix for 6 years...the most ever. Her name was April. Well, fast forward to the last 5 years in Monterey and I've not found a stylist that got my business twice. All I really require is a nice cut that fits my facial features and that pays attention to how I part my hair....not rocket science. I went to Salon A with my sister and my cousin's wife for my bridal make up.They did great job on hair . However make-up was terrible. As a international traveller , I had make up in really different and cheap places when I had no choice. This make-up was the most ugly make-up I have ever had in my entire life. Indeed , my sister and relative as well told me I look old and terrible. (you can see their concerned face without looking to mirror). I could not imagine how the make-up artist can do such a that terrible job. I looked liked crying raccoon in the end. We had to run to another salon crying and fix the face. When we came in for our first - time appointments, it turns out that our stylist Matt had booked us on the wrong day. Totally understandable, however I feel that we should have been greeted and checked in. Instead we sat while another person was given a haircut, then spoken to about the error and asked to come back in an hour. When we returned, the client was still being worked on, again totally understandable, however when that client was finished, our stylist then proceeded to give someone else a haircut. Very inconsiderate, uncaring, and unprofessional attitude. I think If we could have been told immediately of the error and asked to return another day, all would have been well. Instead I never want to return to this salon, why would we when there are many other salons that could have given my daughter the same (20- 30 minutes that it took) haircut and be treated courteously? I realize this review will probably be discarded, but hopefully the owner will get the chance to see it first, so she can make sure that future clients have a better experience. read more

I have had Lisa cut and color my hair for over ten years. I am picky and she has never disappointed me! I have a weird shaped head and very fine hair and can tell you there are few people who can actually make it work. I will say this... be careful what you ask for. Lisa actually LISTENS and will do exactly what you want. My experience is it is better to let her take the lead. She knows much more than I do about what does and doesn't work for my hair. She will be my hairdresser for the rest of my life or until she fires me! read more
