I needed a quick haircut that wouldn't be $60 and didn't have time to make an appointment anywhere…read moreelse. My friend told me about this place, saying it was $20 for a shampoo, cut, and blowdry but that they only took cash. So I came with $24 bucks in hand, knowing it should be enough for the whole shebang and tip. Upon walking in, I saw a sign on the side wall that said $20 for shampoo and cut. What? That kind of sucks. Especially considering it was a cold winter day so in order to be able to pay for this, I'd have to skip the blowdry, which according to the sign, was $28. Sigh. The place was pretty empty for a Saturday afternoon. The girl who cut my hair was nice and I think she did a good job. I'd be a little hesitant to go here if I want a special cut or style, but for a quick trim, it was good. Standing at the counter with my hair dripping wet, she tells me my total was $15. What?! So I guess my friend was right. However, I didn't want to ask them to dry my hair and risk having it be more and not having enough, so i just paid the $15+tip and left. They should really update their signs. And maybe take credit/debit because I'm sure they would get more business that way, and at least I could have left with dry hair.

She left asking "let's schedule another appointment". The vibe is super chic and all the staff were friendly and engaged- not something you see that often these days! Strands is an A++ !

I regret going to Opulent in Palos Heights. I wanted to try a new salon and they 100% ruined my…read morehair and still charged me $90. I have blonde hair and went in to get highlights and also add a few lowlights for dimension. She didn't do any highlights and when I sat in front of the mirror after washing my hair was brown with blonde blotches. After being there for 4hours they tried to fix it by stripping my hair and adding literally 6 highlights on top. My hair is still brown with an orange tint. I cannot emphasize how terrible my experience was and how they tried to downplay it. They offered to "fix" it if I wanted to go back in (for hours) but you can see from the pictures what a "fix" looks like. I've never posted a negative review on here until today. I cannot emphasize how terrible the overall experience was and still told that I had to pay.

I bought the…read moreLiving Social deal they had for $25, so I said what the heck, I really didn't feel like doing my own hair. The place is really nice, warm, relaxing, and inviting. The receptionist was nice and friendly as well as everyone else. My hair washer was nice but nearly scrubbed my head to death, she was scrubbing really hard that it hurt, thankfully she asked if it was to hard and she eased down a bit. But she didn't use a detangling shampoo on my hair therefore it tangled all up. She asked me if my hair tangles this much and I told her not usually because I use a detangling shampoo and I always comb my hair out before washing it which she never did which resulted in my hair being a big tangled mess after she washed it. When she was trying to comb it out I could tell she was having a hard time and she tried ripping my hair apart which I could hear my strands of hair being pulled apart and she did not finish getting the tangles out of my hair before putting me in the dryer for a deep conditioning. My hair washer was black like me so I would have thought she would understand how to wash my hair properly. Oh and some of the shampoo actually smelled like smarties candy, lol. My hairdresser Amanda was really cool, she blew my hair really straight to where it already looked press, so I really liked that. Amanda's work if very articulate she really takes the time to make sure she does everything to near perfection. She did a good job on trimming my ends, although I really didn't care for the hairstyle. But for $25 it was nice to get my hair washed and straighten. The flat iron left my hair smelling a little burnt. They use Aveda hair care products which worked on my hair nice. So all in all, for the first time I think they did good, I think I will try them again in the future maybe. Update: they used my contact info to send me emails which I never agreed to, as well as text messages. I hate when companies do this, it's quite annoying.
