Then when I came back for my appointment, I was pushed into getting full highlights (which are so much more expensive and damaging). I told the stylist that my hair was too susceptible to chemical damage and I wanted minimal highlights, and was rebuffed with the claim that I needed more and they would absolutely not damage my hair (that's just never true). I don't know why I didn't just leave. I went along with it, and after she finished she showed me my hair and it looked Terrible and uneven! I showed her places to fix it, and she tried to, but it was still brassy, uneven and very damaged. I was told to keep my hair in a certain part to make it look better... I've never had a worse experience. Salon Femia - Listen to your customers. Make it right while they are there. Don't charge people for unfixable mistakes.

This salon is run by a lovely mother daughter team and you definitely experience the heartfelt effort that they dedicate to making their clients happy. It's rare that you find a hairdresser who listens to what you're asking for without imposing their own preferences, and I've found that the team at Salon Bellamar is super respectful of following what I want. In fact, over the past two years they've helped me grow my hair out to the length that I was hoping for. And! They were kind enough to help me pick out the color and length of my new clip in extensions, which they ordered for me. They offer a free consultation service for extensions, and they're very thorough about making sure the color and length is correct for you. Highly recommend these sweet and knowledgeable ladies!

Meh. Got an okay cut from Savvy last week. I was inspired to check them out thanks to the range of…read morepositive Yelp reviews, as well as the proximity to my house. The bright blue façade was kind of cool too. My cut was with Joanna, and her heart was definitely in the right place. She asked me the typical life questions, and also what I wanted to do with my hair. It's not a bad cut, but it's lacking the wow-factor I thought I'd conveyed in my explanation of the fabulousness I wanted. Also, she cut my bangs too short, which is a pet peeve of mine and also something I explicitly said. The price was nice ($38 for a cut and blow dry), but I didn't love her styling efforts or the waxy goo she put in my hair. Sigh. Convenience aside, I will return to my stylist at Floyd's for my next cut.

Let me preface this review by saying that as an African-American woman, my hair is VERY important…read moreto me. I have relaxed hair that I get permanently straightened once a month, so I am always looking for an affordable hair salon that can get the job done. Savvy Hair design seemed to fit the bill when they quoted me at $30 for a perm and blow dry, but the experience that I had there is probably the worst experience I've ever had at a hair salon. Danielle was VERY nice and very personable but it took over an hour for her to apply the chemical relaxer to my head, and anyone who gets chemical relaxers knows that when you leave it on for over 35 min it BURNS YOUR SCALP. So, I politely asked her to wash it out and she did , but I was left with a few scabs on my scalp from the burning. Then, she told me that the perm didn't even STRAIGHTEN my hair! I was a little frustrated, not with her, but with the situation and with the fact that I cannot seem to find a hair salon in the area that can do African-American hair properly. The blow dry was ok, she left the roots a little wet which, again, doesn't really work for African-American hair, but whatever. Moral of the Story- If you are an African-American woman looking to get a relaxer done here, BRING YOUR OWN PRODUCT or go somewhere else.

I booked a haircut with George and for whatever reason he decided that he didn't want to cut my hair. He asked Frankie to do it. There was literally no one there. I said sure whatever. I just had a baby. All I want is a haircut and get out of there. First of all it took 2 hours instead of the 1 he quoted. He blew dry my hair and he was super rough and he burnt my scalp. I asked for bangs and he literally grabbed a chunk of my hair and cut it short: At that point I was really annoyed since I told the babysitter an hour and I was an hour late already. George had to come in a fix his shitty bangs. Finally done and I left. I was so tired that I didn't really check but when I got home I realized that it was superrrr uneven. I tie my hair up and you can visibly see how uneven it was. I had to grow my hair out to get it fixed. I had to wear it up for a few months just to hide how bad my haircut was. Went to another place yesterday and the stylist confirmed it how uneven it was. I think the worst thing was George (believe he's the owner) checked my hair to make sure it was even and he said it was!! Very disappointed in this place since I wanted this to be my go-to place.
