I had an extremely disappointing experience trying to book an appointment at Salon 184. I called to make an appointment with Nelson, but Monica answered the phone and was immediately rude and dismissive. She kept cutting me off mid sentence, didn't let me explain myself, and rushed me the entire time, all while I was simply trying to say that I had been calling for the past two days with no answer. When I asked about Nelson, she told me he was on vacation, again cutting me off and being completely unprofessional in her tone. I finally told her she was being rude and asked to speak with someone else, specifically Maria, who I knew was part of the team. The conversation with Maria was at least more polite and respectful. She listened, explained that Nelson was out, and took my number. However, when I asked who Monica was, she told me that Monica was also one of the owners. I explained how disrespectful Monica had been, and rather than apologizing, Maria tried to excuse her behavior by saying they were having a tough day and that the computer system was down. She even said she was sitting next to Monica during the call and that it "wasn't that bad." Let me be very clear...I felt ignored, dismissed, and completely undervalued as a potential customer. Justifying rude behavior because you're having a bad day is not acceptable, especially not from a business owner. Maria's response essentially condoned Monica's unprofessionalism. It was shocking. I told them to delete my number and that I would not be visiting the salon...ever. And I absolutely would NOT recommend this place to anyone. If this is how they treat people over the phone, I can only imagine what the in-person experience might be like. Terrible, unprofessional, and disappointing. Avoid Salon 184. read more

My husband bought me a gift certificate here, I really needed some pampering. It's not a super fancy salon but it doesn't matter much when the services are good. I got a haircut and blow dry with Nilson. He was excellent! He was fast and detail oriented. A lot of good layers and a killer at blow drying . Triny did my nails. She was great too! Definitely will be coming back. UPDATE: Nilson did my hair again and was excellent. I showed him the style I wanted and he customized it for me. He knows what he's doing. If you need a cut or blow dry it looks like they might do well. Their skills for elegant updo styles are non-existent. Spent 1 hour and $50 of wasted time and energy. Lying about how great it's looking and flattery just to deliver something a 14 hr old could do. Then my sisters turn to get her hair type blamed and fussed at. My sister braver than I and more honest said she didn't like where it was going pages for mine and walked out. Still payed 50$ for me to go home and undo it and redo myself. Honesty goes a long way. Triny and Elizabeth are manicurists/pedicurists. Once you have had a spa pedicure from Triny, you will forget all your tensions and worries. They make you feel like royalty and will become friends in no time. They are not only adhering to COVID guidelines, but going above and beyond for your safety and theirs. Man what a great experience! My husband and I came here to do our nails this weekend and we loved it! From the moment I called to make the appointment, Maria was very helpful over the phone, Monica was very responsive via Yelp, and the people that work there are very attentive. I just love Salon 184 and consider it a "find" after reading reviews in Yelp. My hair is long and damaged needing specific attention. Maria, one of the co-owners, has magic fingers that makes lemonade out of a lemon. Her work is dynamic. The salon is always happy and welcoming and takes care of you like family. Elizabeth has been caring for my nails and pinpointed situations long before a doctor did. She is my special nail tech. Thanks to Monica, the other co-owner, who has always been so helpful. I've been with my nail lady for 15 YEARS, I am very picky and a loyal client. As soon as I walked in they greeted me.. pedicure are separate from where they style hair and also manicures it was very clean and happy environment. GREAT PROducts! I write this as I am sitting in my house with a deep conditioner in my hair, repairing the damage that Lucy bestowed on me this afternoon. Thankfully, I only went in to get the dead ends of my thick, curly hair trimmed. I didn't have a styled haircut or anything like that so the hideous "style" that Lucy did could easily be washed away. I made an appointment with Lucy for a Saturday afternoon. When I first walked in, I saw that they sold Moroccan oil products, so to me this was a positive sign. Moroccan oil works really well on my hair and it is often used by professional stylists. However, when I met Lucy, I became a little bit nervous. I asked her if she was going to cut my hair wet and she said yes. I asked her if she could cut it dry since the last time someone cut my hair wet, it became evident that they had cut wayyyy too much once the hair dried and it was too short. Lucy became pretty defensive when I said this and replied with, "I know curly hair, okay?" I thought about leaving but I really needed my ends cut so I figured that it wouldn't be that bad since it's only the dead ends. And I was right. Lucy was able to cut the dead ends off but her style technique was atrocious. I was also right in the sense that my hair IS shorter than I would have liked. First of all, I realized by how harsh the lather in my shampoo and conditioning was that she didn't use the Moroccan oil shampoo. She more than likely used something loaded down with chemicals and I could tell by the feel that it was drying out my hair. After she cut the dead ends (fortunately no issue here) she proceeded to brush out all of my curls. Ummm... Most curly hair shouldn't be brushed after its no longer wet. I've never had a stylist brush or detangle my hair after the shampoo and conditioner. But Lucy went ahead and brushed out all of the curls, proceeded to load my hair down with some chemically heavy gel (and by load I mean my hands, face, and arms are currently sticky with the substance) and twirled strands of my hair around her finger to create curls. WTF?! Who. Does. This?? I felt like I was in some back alley, Hialeah salon! The final product was me with sopping wet hair looking like one of those Komondor dogs in a Westminster dog show. Ugh. I can't even believe that this is a professional salon. Not to mention, she was chatting on her blue tooth as she styles my hair and wouldn't listen to any comments that I made about how I like my hair with a little volume. Like I said, thankfully I only got the dead ends trimmed. That was my only need. I wasn't looking for a style or anything of that nature. I just wanted my ends trimmed and I was able to get that done here at a very reasonable price (which is the only reason I didn't give one star). But the styling was horrendous. To be fair, I got the sense that Lucy was a Dominican hair stylist. Everyone knows that Dominican stylists are THE people to go to if you have thick hair and you need it to be blowed out and bone straight. Maybe this is her forte? But if you have curly hair and you're just looking for a simple style, I absolutely, 100% would NOT recommend Salon 184. I hate writing reviews like this, I really do; but I just think that it's hard enough for us curly girls to find good stylists in South Florida. Why lie about a place where it's just not happening? Now, time to wash out my deep conditioner. read more

Neilson did an amazing job with my hair! I have had experiences with MANY salons since my fave Anasa hair closed down. None of them have compared to Salon 184 in price or skill. Neilson actually listen to what I wanted done to my hair....he did not tell me what he thought I should do or how even though I wanted X, he was going to do Y. He did exactly what I wanted and it turned out perfectly. On top of that, I am use to ridiculously high prices which typically leads me to say "no blowdry please" to cut down on a couple bucks. However, I had full color, partial highlights, AND blowdry (I have long hair) for only $130! I have NEVER had even just highlights and blowdry for that price before, not to mention full color. Neilson was focused and motivated to get me out in time (I had mentioned I needed to meet with fridge repair people and could not risk them showing up when I'm not there, never to return again). Although my fridge STILL is not fixed (alas, I digress) my hair looks fabulous and was completed in a completely realistic time frame. I have spend over 3 hours getting highlights before (HOW?!). Neilson completed my full color, highlights, and blow dry in less than 2 hours! I would absolutely recommend Salon 184 and Neilson to anyone looking for great service and price!! read more

Just left salon 184 a couple of minutes ago. I must say it was an EXCELLENT experience. The staff is very nice, welcoming, and friendly. I was lucky enough even to get my hair done on a whim with Lisa. As a person who has hair that needs extra TLC (relaxed) I am so confident after her first time dealing with my hair that this is who i ultimately needed to find to get my hair going in the right direction. My hair is soooo soft, bouncy, and smells great even though Ive got damage. Most importantly she did exactly what I wanted and really listened to what I had to say. She did so well that im sure someone who isnt aware of hair care would never notice my hair is having some trouble. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. read more

Nilson is amazing! I have long coarse hair, which can be hard to work with, and Nilson always manages to make it look great. He's a master at layers, highlights, and blow drying! You never feel rushed when you see him, but he's also quick and efficient. And he's so nice and kind on top of all of that! I live in NYC, and so unfortunately only get to see him when I'm visiting my parents in the area. But I end up always waiting to come to FL to get my hair done, because no one in NYC can compete!
