The citric flavors explode in your mouth with just the right amount of spices and salt. And the chips they use are so delicious even by themselves. The staff is also super nice, friendly, and attentive. I saw chapulines (crickets) by the cashier and asked if I could try one - then was quickly chickening out - but they all encouraged me to try ("It's now or never!") so I did - and I have to say, surprisingly good! The upstairs deck lends you a breezy view to the marketplace while you sip the agua del día (watermelon for me) or beer of your choice. Such a perfect reprieve. We selected this restaurant because of the seafood. We have the the grill local shrimp salad. The shrimps are butterflied and grilled. It come with avocado salad. The fish there is very fresh as the owner brings the fish fresh from Veracruz. This is the second location and is a more refined restaurant with table cloths and napkins. The other location are table with plastic table cloths. Both a a great selection of fresh seafood. The octopus with hint of garlic is a top choice. My other choice is their fresh snapper grilled. Be aware that their shrimp broth which is very tasty is also very spicy. Be sure to order a cup as a bowl will be too much to enjoy the seafood main course.

Then, allow the friendly staff to bring as many items from the menu as you can handle. Come with a group so you can share. An absolute must is the whole fish done à la Contramar, one side of the split fish coated in a punchy parsley sauce and the other in a red adobo rub. Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from.
