I originally requested a Friday appointment and was told the salon would be closed that day, so I rearranged my schedule, extended my trip, and agreed to come on Saturday instead. I traveled from NYC for this appointment, adjusted important personal and work commitments, and made the effort to be there on time; only to arrive and find the salon completely closed, with absolutely no call, text, email, or any attempt to notify me. To make matters worse, I had received an appointment reminder email the day before, which confirmed to me that my appointment was still happening. Afterward, I discovered through Instagram that they were on vacation. Let that sink in: appointments were still on their calendar and being confirmed while the business was apparently away, and clients were not properly notified. The deposit is one thing, but what bothered me most was the complete lack of respect for my time, travel, planning, and professionalism. I had to rearrange my entire weekend right before a work trip to make this appointment happen. To his credit, the owner eventually apologized and offered to refund my deposit, but a refund does not undo the time, money, and inconvenience this caused.
