This year I was told there are no more free frames through my insurance company. I paid an extra $40 to have them look at the back of my eyes instead of dilating my pupils. When I went to look at new frames and order glasses. They told me I'm going to have to come back in a week and have my eyes dilated. Apparently the insurance companies wouldn't pay for it at the time. That $40 was cash out of my pocket. What a ripoff. When this was run by Cunninghams, it was very professional and close to my home. Needless to say, I will be looking around for a different eye doctor. Every year I have to go and get a printout of my visit. They always fail to send my primary care physician the result of my visit.

When returning a year later to have my eyes checked my birthdate, address and medical history was all incorrect, making them unable to find my insurance. I was interested in two pairs of glasses, everyday and sunglasses. The quote I received with my insurance was unaffordable for both and said so. When I went to pick up my everyday glasses, I had figured out a way to budget and pay for the second pair. I paid in full for what they said was $1,100 pair of glasses without insurance, but with insurance it was cut down to about half. (See the packing slip picture $79 for their $450 frames, not including lenses). Less than a month later, I got a bill for over $125. When I called they said it was an insurance issue. When I offered to return the unused sunglasses due to finances, they refused and said the store manager would call me. That was January. It's now March and I'm still waiting to rectify this situation.

Clarkson Eyecare - "A $700 frame but with insurance it's $450".... But really $79. I understand mark ups need to happen to cover store expenses, but $700?

The worst was my right eye which was 35 eye pressure and optic nerve damage. The left also had glaucoma. She referred me to Dr. Gago, specialist, and with two kinds of drops and laser treatments brought by eye pressure down to 20 and below. However, the damage was done. My eyes have been stable but I am afraid to have the necessary surgery which I can no longer put off. Hopefully she has learned from her mistakes as a Doctor but I would think twice about getting her as your doctor.

I really appreciate the time and consideration provided by Dr. Curcione. She explained everything clearly and made sure I understood. She also helped me find glasses and contacts that would fit with my lifestyle and sensory sensitivities. The staff were excellent as well at every point of the process. I didn't think the visit would be covered by health insurance, and they checked anyhow and informed me that it would be. The staff who helped me pick out glasses was very helpful. This is the first time I'm looking forward to wearing a pair of glasses (which is saying a lot as someone who's vehemently hated glasses). I'm so glad I found them!

Very unprofessional office: My son (19 years old) called…read morethis office and gave them his vision insurance info to confirm that they took his insurance. They told him that he was In Network. After her drove 25 minutes to his appointment, they told him that he was OUT of network. The secretary said "Just pay for the exam and you can call your insurance and figure it out later". He was smart enough to call me first to see if this was appropriate. I asked to speak to the secretary that was talking to him. I heard her say that she was too busy. After another 10 minutes, another woman came to the phone and said that they "usually verify insurance 1-2 days before appointments, but we must have been too busy". I asked them to call the insurance to verify (they had just went on the website initially). 20 minutes later, they told my son that he was out of network, so I told him to cancel the insurance and we would find another optometry center. I called to make him an appointment at SVS. I asked them to verify In network insurance so that this would not happen to my son again. The secretary was very nice and agreed, but she saw that Village Vision Center had not released/cancelled his appointment yet, so she could not access his account/verify that he was due for an eye exam until they released the appointment. I had to call Village Vision back and tell them to release his appointment. The secretary said that they released it "as soon as he cancelled his appointment", which I know is not true as it took me at least 10-15 minutes to call the second optometry office.... Shame on them for NOT actually verifying his insurance when he called to make the appointment AND then trying to get him to pay upfront and imply that the insurance would pay for it if he just called them later!

When I called again, someone walked the message to the Vision office, and I received a call. My glasses had been there for over two weeks. I had not been notified because Vision was calling a phone number I had not had for over five years. No one asked if that number was the correct one to notify me. While the exam was professional, the clerical staff is not up to par. Someone should have updated my information at the time of the exam. No one asked me for phone numbers: not my cell or landline or even my email address for a contact.
