My fiancé and I were researching jewelers in the Monterey area to downsize my engagement ring…read more Since bold jewelers is relatively close to our place, we decided to pop in and met Eduardo who seemed to be very straightforward and polite when we were inquiring about down sizing my gold band. The initial size of the ring was 7.02 and we wanted to get it downsized to 6.5 During our visit, he took the size of my ring and had me fill out some information so that he could contact me when the ring would be ready. Eduardo stated that since the drop off was Monday the 14th he would have it done no later than Wednesday the 16th, no pricing was stated by word of mouth or even written on the slip that my ring was placed into. Upon picking up my engagement ring, we said our thank you's and Eduardo said somewhat awkwardly "oh, who's going to pay for the service?" My fiancé and I looked confused so he followed up by saying he doesn't work for free. Very shoddy. Now I'm not one to make a fuss because I believe every vendors gotta make their money right, but usually the price of the gold is taken by the jeweler and calculated against what the labor was. We are very disappointed at the lack of communication when pricing for services, if we had known it would be $150 to downsize a simple gold band, we would have waited and taken my ring back to the original jewelers where we originally bought it. I think the salt in the wound is after taking a closer inspection of the ring, you can definitely tell where Eduardo took apart and soldered back together the ring as there are scuff marks along the bandyou would think for $150 I would get quality work, but this is just another Monterey shop trying to get money off of tourists.

Bryan has been great at handling my overcomplicated upgrades for my Schecter and old Ibanez and pointing me in the right direction with the techs. He was also a pleasure to talk to on the phone when he called to provide updates. Their tech Alex was super helpful when discussing an upgrade I didn't think was possible. I asked, on the off chance, if we could put active pickups in a 25-year-old passive Ibanez. Alex accepted the challenge with positivity and excitement. He said it would be no problem and explained what he was going to do. He also went ahead and installed some custom Guyker locking tuners on my Schecter. They are red and chrome, matching my body. He did a fantastic job! Robert is a dedicated guitar tech. I first met him when I came in to upgrade my Schecter. I had a complex humbucker set unad he was so positive and confident that I knew I had found the right place. I went back on a whim to see if I could replace my old Ibanez passive humbuckers with the ones he removed from my Schecter. I genuinely thought I was going to be laughed out of the shop. However, Alex and Robert both thought about it and were once again positive and enthusiastic. I handed over my guitar and parts, and the shop just had a very can-do attitude. I got a call after a few days to say it was done. I'm amazed at their turnaround time, as the technician's room always looks stacked with axes. Robert also went above and beyond when installing the active humbuckers in my Ibanez. I originally asked to keep the middle pickup just to be kept in but dead because I didn't want a big hole in my body. Not only did he get the actives in, but he also managed to wire it so the middle passive is still live! So my old, crappy guitar can now shred but also go back to my old punk-pop days . She described her husband as wealthy, but didn't quite know what he did, she didn't "need to know". She seem to be in possession of a lot of designer clothing and wanted to sell it to me, I don't need designer clothing I have a lot of designer clothing. So after cleaning my home washing my dishes, I noticed she was also very nervous, almost shaking, she said she had anxiety, OK that made sense. She said she needed to go to your jewelry store, she said she had an appointment with your jewelry store, but wanted to know if we could stop at the post office first. She showed me a Rolex watch and a wedding ring that she needed to pawn basically because of her cash flow issue. My question was "where was her husband?" She didn't answer. She also didn't have money to send a box at the post office to ask you to pay. Again I noticed how nervous this woman was, a new friend, didn't want to judge her, not assume she was using drugs. Then she told me the truth, her husband had left her, that's why she needed to sell the ring, and a very expensive Rolex watch.
