I took my son and grandson to play there yesterday had breakfast in the snack bar. All in all I spent almost $230 . The employee with the dog moved at a snail's pace and paid more attention to the dog than the customer. I noticed there were no rubber tees on the mats and asked him for a rubber tee to use. He said" we sell the rubber tees" . I spent over $200 and he's going to charge for use of a tee.Ive been golfing for over50 years and never seen this before. Simply bad business on his part. His attitude was take it or leave it. So I left it! As far as the course is it was a nice shape and fun to play on the putting was in good shape as well. read more

So about a year ago we paid for a round online w cart included. It was a regular day not a holiday. We show up 15 min to our tee time and the young lady in there says there is no carts available. Remind you we have prepaid online for the cart and golf fee. I say I drove 50 minutes to play here and I'd like my money back. She says ok which I thought cool Ill be on my way to play elsewhere. The guy in the back name Freddy comes out and tells me there is no refunds after the young lady said she would refund us. I tell them if there is no carts then why am I getting stuck paying for 1 if there is none available. He goes on about how it says (in the small writing no one can see on there phones) no carts are guaranteed. So I say just refund me the cart at least and Ill go on my way because Im not walking and if I dont get a cart do to your shortage at least give me that. I will eat the cost of the round because Im not walking but give me the 20 for the cart back because you dont have it. He goes back and fourth with me for a while and then 2 carts magically appear from the back after he gets on his walkie talkie. Now this tells me 1 of 2 things. Those carts were saved for other people he wanted to give them to or those are the ones he rides around in when he's yelling at people on the course. The dude is rude and acts like he's a cop or something. Even if you just try and small talk the guy he wants to show his boss up personality. Now Troy that used to be there was a cool dude. They should bring him back. Fast forward a couple months go by and we go in on a holiday weekend and this time we didnt pay online because I know the hassle I previously had about him not wanting to reimburse us for cart shortage. We made the tee time over the phone. When we pull up I already see there are no carts. I walk in the club house and there is the Demon himself staring at me probably remembering the last time we had our run in. I say good morning (850 am) our tee time is at 910. He tells me there are no carts and there are 7 groups in front of me. I couldnt tell you how that many groups could fit in that 20 min gap but I said its all good and walked out. I dont understand why the guy acts like that. He's a grump and hardly ever see this guy talking to anyone. He let his little promotion get to him. I understand there are rules he must watch over while on the course but lets not be a prick in the clubhouse before we even reach the first tee. Have some kind of friendliness to the public. Another time I was paying at the desk and he runs from behind the desk to the front and starts yelling at some old man about going off the side of the curb. He said "We have new carts I better not see that again or you wont get another cart." Now the guy was in the wrong but dont embarrass the old guy. Anyways enough about that guy. The only reason I go back to play there is because I used to live there and the course is always green and in great shape. The greens roll true and the fairways are usually cut nice. The members there are always cool to join and for a public course I think the landscaping team does an awesome job. If anything those guys should be the ones getting the money on that team of workers. If you dont mind hearing a gun shot and sirens every now and then, this is a cool place to swing em! read more

Nice course, been playing it since i first started golf 30 years ago. Over the last year or so, their prices have gone up and down. Once again their prices have gone up. You'd figure during the down season they would want to encourage more people to come out but when you compare the prices they used to have and especially their hot deals, it's night and day. It's expensive enough to look at the prices for the course and say ehh for a little more i can go play a country club. When you look online and see all the bookings available, you can tell I'm not the only one feeling this way. Hopefully management gets smart and lowers their prices again so everyone can play. read more

Course is a fun little track. However, the pro-shop guy, maybe it is Troy based on the other reviews, STINKS! Incredibly rude. You are at a course in Salinas not Pebble. Relax. Gotta say love reading the reviews of places. I am at this range almost daily to hit balls at the range. As of lately the course is making some great changes. 1. restaurant is back open. basic food but done well. 2. NEW MATS on the range are the best ive seen in the area. thick and lush. 3. NEW CARTS too. I dont play often but they got new carts and they look sweet. 4. Its a muni course so dont expect pebble beach. 5. Not much staff here. usually a cart kid and shop person. they are all awesme tho and chat with me all the time. I feel sorry for these people that have to deal with all the golfers that have bad etiquette. No marshall or starter to help so they have to lock the shop up which is a bummer when i need more range balls, so i laugh when i see the complaints on here about the shop being rude. its usually the golfers that are complaining about not being able to play in 5somes or more or slow on the golfer course that get yelled at and then they come and complain. I guess i would complain too if i couldnt break the rules. read more

I recommend Salinas Fairways it's one of the easier courses in the area I love playing the front nine it's beautifully manicured the service here is great the back nine can be a little difficult as there's no tree lines protecting the fairways read more

The course conditions are generally fair for the pricing so this review isn't a reflection of the course itself I have no issue with the course. The issue is with customer service/management/ general manager. I booked an online tee time through the course website for a foursome and pre-paid, come the day of play, I only had a threesome. No problem I'm told by the front staff, a young hispanic male tells me I'll get my refund of $51 for the unplayed round. I said cool but I'd rather just take a round voucher instead don't really care for a refund, he says no worries we'll issue a refund. This is a Saturday, the following day I get a phone call from the same kind gentleman to confirm by bank card info and to say he's issued a refund and it should go thru in 3 days and to call back and get in contact with the general manager if I don't get it. The refund never processes so I call 3x in two weeks and 2x a middle to late aged caucasian male answers the phone and is rude and condescending says "they don't issue refunds", after I explain as above, says he'd leave a message for the general manager to call me back, gets my name and #, and literally hangs up on me before I'm finished with my sentence, does this two times in two weeks. I never got a phone call back from the general manager and I never get a refund. I don't even care for the measly $51 dollars, all I wanted was a round voucher to catch another round. It's the principle and treatment of your core customer that matters and for that they get a lone and deserved 1 star for the rude, condescending attitude and the inattentive, unresponsive general manager. read more

I've been a caddy on the Monterey Peninsula since 1988 working at some of the best courses in the area like Cypress Point, Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach. And before you ask "No, I can't get you on Cypress Point". I will say that for a public course run by the city of Salinas, CA it is a great place to tee it up and it is affordable. Green Fees are somewhere between $25-$45. Golf Carts are around $13 for 9 holes and $21 for 18 holes. The greens are Poa and run about 10 on the stimp meter. The fairways & rough are Kikuyu grass. The Pro Shop staff have a good boss and they are helpful and polite. The snack bar is good. I usually eat lunch here after the round and it always hits the spot. The driving range is located right near the 1st tee. Like most ranges you must hit off mats. Bathrooms are next to 2nd green, 6th tee, left of 6th fairway, 8th tee, at the turn in the snack bar, right of 11th fairway, behind the 14th green & 17th green. Come to think of it this course gets an A+ for total bathroom spots. read more

FIX YOUR FREAKIN' TEE BOXES! Whoever the superintendent is, he/she needs to be fired. How difficult is it to level the tee boxes? There are a number of holes where your ball is either way below or way above your feet. And a grounds keeper is yet to be seen anywhere, so I can only assume they don't have any(?) For as much as the course charges for a round ($57 -walking $77 w/cart) you'd think they can make some improvements around the course. Ridgemark is $56 to walk and $78 w/cart. At least with there, you get your money's worth. read more

On 02-24-23, my buddy and I arrived at Salinas Fairways to play a round of golf. The pro shop was locked with a sign stating the course was closed due to the weather, which was understandable. I had prepaid our green fees, so I called the course a few days later to request a refund or a rain check. I spoke to a couple of guys in the pro shop, but they didn't know what to do. I was then transferred to the voicemail of the club pro. I never heard from him, so I sent a couple of emails to the course. True to form, they also disappeared into the black hole with no response. A muni-owned course contracted out to an out of area mgm't. company. Greens - 4.5 stars - roll true and well maintained Fairways and rough - 4 stars - kikuyu, usually well kept, rough not high. Tee boxes - 0 stars - terrible - almost all sloped, tee blocks set on side hill or downhill slopes. Be careful, the blocks can be aimed any which way. Practice green - 4 stars - well maintained and good for putting & chipping. Driving range - 0 stars - mats are worn and torn. Bring your own rubber tee. No grass to practice off of, no way to tee up a hybrid or fairway wood. Pro shop - 2 stars - has had constant turnover last few years. Not much interest in customer service from a couple of the counter people. They even put out a tip jar! Snack bar - 3 stars - they have one. Overpriced, but aren't they all? Prices - 3 stars - like all courses, keep going up. Cart prices are too high for carts in dubious condition. But compared to some courses in Monterey area, it's more affordable. I am writing this review to express my utter disappointment with the management and, in particular, the performance of the golf course manager, Troy. My recent experiences at this establishment have been nothing short of frustrating and disheartening, prompting me to share my concerns with the public. Disheartening is the lack of professionalism and customer service exhibited by the manager. On multiple occasions, I have witnessed their dismissive attitude towards patrons, unresponsiveness to complaints, and a clear lack of interest in ensuring an enjoyable experience for golfers. A manager should be the face of an establishment, representing its commitment to customer satisfaction, and falls short in this regard. Moreover, the scheduling and management of tee times. Supervision have been nothing short of chaotic. Players are subjected to excessive wait times on tee boxes and between holes, leading to a disrupted and unpleasant round of golf. It is evident that there is a lack of competence in managing the course's operations efficiently. I will say the cart guys have been very helpful and polite. Have had a great pleasure with dealing with these gentlemen. Majority of the other workers have been great to deal with. Also before this management took over I had no complaints. Prices have risen and just not a pleasant time anymore. As a passionate golfer and a paying customer, I expected a much higher standard of service and course management. Unfortunately, my experiences have been far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my grievances with others who may be considering playing at this facility. Customer Service needs improvement. This course is not nice enough to screw over their customers. I made a reservation day of and there were plenty of spots open, only 1 group in front of me with plenty of space behind me. I reserved a tee time for my girlfriend and I at 9:52 am which only allows 2 people during the slot. I was going to rent clubs for my girlfriend but they didn't have any (which is fine). I asked if they could just take my girlfriend off the roster since she cant play without clubs and we are both swing with different dominant hands. So i'm paying $62 for my girlfriend to just sit in the golfcart, the man at cash register said he won't be able to refund me just for her and even though she won't play I still paid for her to play. So i paid over $124 just for one round of golf for 1 person. There was no one to pair up with me. Terrible customer service. The golf corse is in mediocre condition at best, food is okay at best. read more

A "Wow" public/ municipal golf course for hospitality, respect and cordial welcoming ambiance. When two older women want to practice and play a little golf, this place is stellar. The PGA Pro. Dave Anderson is a gem. He operates a successful operation, because of the positive open win-win attitude he exudes. His staff is friendly, efficient and fabulous too. The course is easy to walk (flat) and nice, not beautiful. This location is a very affordable experience. Spring has arrived and what an awesome way to get some exercise and fresh air. Very good little course, there's nothing spectacular about it. It's pretty much flat which makes great for walking, two water hazards and three par 5's. It tends to get crowded specially on Saturday's when they often host tournaments. They also recently started offering more specials online and by email, they have also adjusted their prices compared to other courses I thought it was a bit expensive. They also they started offering unlimited golf for a monthly fee, about $60 to $80 a month. It's great if you play here often unfortunately I don't play here that often to take advantage of it. The staff is very helpful as often friends have been late or we show up without a reservation, they will often sneak us in. read more

Rude people that work In the front, the young man that works in the front register came up to my nephew and I then passed lots of judgment on what clubs we were using and made us feel dumb. We asked how it works, and he said there's signs all over, then said there's ETIQUETTE and was a real jerk. It was our first time and just wanted to learn. Not coming back here. It was going good until he came around to try and make us feel dumb n out of place I'd give this place negative stars if I could!!!! Checked out this golf course while working in the area. Looked it up on Yelp and it was the closest course to where I was. Got to the course and was able to get in 9 holes. Good little course, this is probably the cheapest GC in Monterey County (aside from the little 3-par); next to it Pacific Grove. This is a great "Plan B" if you can't get on any other courses in the area or you are not wanting to spend the $80 anywhere else. The course is very flat, has a few water hazards, and wide fairways. Some of the holes are really challenging, and fun. However, this is not a "pretty" course or one which is special. It is easy to get on though and easy to walk. So when you are all burnt out from playing Pebble, drive 35 minutes to Salinas, and hit this course. read more

Honestly a hidden gem, I walked 9 holes for 15$ after work, really good greens with really good fairways. The staff was super friendly as well. We played here on 5/13/14 7:50 am tee time. Friendly staff .The course was in great shape, butter smooth fairways and greens were just in perfect condition. Never felt pushed or was held up by anyone the entire game. We will play this course anytime we are passing thru this area without question. Then you have the price which is icing on the cake. I come here often with my husband, mainly due to price. The course is alright and it offers a wide fairway but the grass is kind of dry. I love their twilight deal which is $12 after 3 pm. It gets really windy, especially the back 9. Overall, this is the best golf course in Salinas. read more

I came here one Friday morning a month ago. I bought my tee time from Golfnow, I learned I only saved about 5 dollars. I was paired with 2 senior male koreans. It just rained that morning and the golf cart they gave me was wet and had no windshield which annoyed me. The course was an old muni course and really begs a makeover.
