The food is expensive (please, skip the $5.75 microwaved pretzels and the $4.75 bag of Cracker Jack that is mostly air, in a fancy bag), but the tickets and beers are cheap, so it all evens out. This establishment has lots of potential, but unfortunately it hasn't been applied. There is definitely room for improvement on the food quality, ordered two hot dogs and nachos. The hot dogs were basic but lacked Mayo, onions, and other grilled veggie options. The nachos were very bland and the cheese did not taste like nacho cheese should. I figured it would come with something but not a thing. You get the same seat as there is down by the field and a room that has an old dirty couch and a room that probably has not been cleaned for 4 to 6 months! You also get to pay a service fee if you order food. The food was mediocre at best but very expensive!! With 12 people there is no place to seat other than outside. Minor league in every respect. No ticket prices posted at the ticket windows. I asked why - was told it was too complicated as prices change from game-to-game - complete B.S.!!! Stadium adjacent to I-5, so you will mostly be hearing constant traffic noise during your time at the ballgame. Parking $5. I suggest buying GA ticket and then just sit wherever you want. No ushers. Pretty empty even on a Fri night. Concession prices fair. $2 water. $6-$8 beer. They run specials for $3 for Coors Light during the game when a designated player for the opposing team strikes out. Feels like a time machine back to 1970's minor league baseball. That has both good and bad elements. If the stadium were located away from the freeway and the incessant noise - I would have enjoyed my time there much more than I did. read more

We live near Oregon city, and baseball is my partner's happy place. So we've been to Hillsboro Hops games and Salem Keizer volcanoes games (and lots of other baseball both major and minor league)- with no real loyalty to either team. Pros- the stadium is old, but still pretty nice. They've done some updating. I was surprised by the number and variety of food vendors. Cons- The announcer was not very good and made a lot of mistakes. "Next at bat, #16".... um, no, #16 was the kid who was just out. He said the sound system was new or recently improved. But the sound was terrible- was way too loud, and scratchy. They played ridiculously obnoxious canned sound effects all night long- lots of buzzer sounds, a line from a movie, the law and order dun-dun, 80s video games beeping, air horn effect, so many dayo's, short clips from so so many songs (lots from the 80s), loud cartoony Woohoos, and much more. Constant overly loud scratchy noise all night. Two lines of a song into two lines of another song. The umpire had to tell them to stop playing loud music while a player was at bat. If you find baseball relaxing or like the pace of it, Salem Keizer might not be the place. I have never heard sound effects like this. A kid from the opposing team got hit while at bat, and they played a loud dun-dun-dun, which was pretty tacky. Any time anything happened and anytime nothing was happening. They played 5-10 seconds of easily 30+ different random songs- EMF unbelievable, rhinestone cowboy, dirty deeds done dirt cheap, what is love, boot scootin boogie, 9 to 5, shut up and dance, Batman and A-team themes, etc etc etc. It was so obnoxious and gimmicky that it detracted from the baseball. I don't know whether I want to go back there. read more

I'm so embarrassed to call this my local team. Grew up watching the volcanoes (starting from when the built the stadium), and unfortunately, this is not the stadium I loved. The men's bathroom sinks barely work. The employees act like they wish they were somewhere else. The food was terrible, let alone waiting 30+ minutes. They were out of almost everything (not at the end of the game, but 30 minutes before it even started). The ketchup bottle shared by all the visitors was disgusting. No care was taken for food safety, or sanitation. The person taking money would also go directly to handling the food with their hands (no gloves or hand sanitizer). The players wouldn't even look at my son who was sitting right behind them warming up to bat. Maybe it was an "off night", but based on other 1 and 2 star reviews from here and google, I gather this was not just a bad night, but more of a lack of care taken by the new owners. I'm sorry volcanoes stadium, but I'll drive to Hillsboro the next time I want to take my family to watch baseball. read more

I used to work for this outfit.. i feel its my responsibility to warn people that this place breaks all the health and safety rules.. when i worked there the concessions had a rodent problem and they weren't properly cleaned.. Also, we received a box of hotdogs that were covered in green mold. Jerry Walker, the owner, came in and scrapped the mold off and told us to cook and sell them anyway... and yes, people ate those... Many many great memories here. I love going here. This is a great little ball park. If your lucky, you might get to see a few players before they move on to the Major league. An earlier reviewer described this place as an upgraded high school field. Well, that's just about right. I mean, I know this is short-season Single-A, but come on. You want to at least give the impression that you care. Concessions? Well, nothing to write home about. And that's being generous. I've been to Pop Warner and Little League games where the food is roughly the same quality. Stale chips, tough, chewy hot dogs, soggy garlic fries, and watered-down sodas. And they don't even offer lids for your drinks here. Not because they think you're hiding alcohol or anything. It's because the Salem-Keizer faithful are too messy to make sure their drink lids end up in the trash, and the Volcanoes employees aren't interested in cleaning it up. But hey, their concession stands finally take charge cards. So there! One nice thing -- gates open up two hours prior to games, and you can catch the visiting team's batting practice. If they're loaded up with right-handed power hitters, hang out on the left-field porch to catch anything that heads out that way. read more

Went to a game and the stands were almost empty. If it weren't for the groups who were having events I don't know that they would have any any crowd at all. The game was good and you really can't beat the price, but I would advise you to eat at home. We used to come to the games quite often and they were known throughout the league for having some of the beat ballpark eats. I don't think that it still the case. The service,was extremely slow...I missed the better part of an inning to get a wrap, and the wrap was just so-so. Consider that the park was almost empty so there was no line so not sure what the holdup was. I will continue to go to watch games, but I will be eating elsewhere. read more

So MLB stadiums allow food to be brought in, but this minor league one doesn't. You have your games at dinner time, but except NO ONE with any type of allergy or intolerance to come to the game. I don't know how I can even write this without crying. My dad was put on hospice care this past week, and as one of my dads dying wishes he requested to attend a baseball game with his family and grand kids. Due to his health being so bad special accommodations were needed for his comfort. All I can say is that this place went above and beyond to ensure that my dad had an enjoyable visit. As heartbreaking as the circumstances were, these people who didn't even know my dad showed what true humanity is all about. Speaking for myself and my kids this was a visit that will never be forgotten, and will be a memory that would've never been made possible without everyone involved making the experience so memorable. There are no words that can express my gratitude, or thankfulness towards our experience, so from the bottom of my heart thank you again! read more

should have known it would be bad when i pulled up the online ticket system & it looked like it was built in the early 2000s to be compatible with dial up AOL. Reserved seating for this game was pretty much all blocked out even though I was logged in within 5 minutes of the initial onsale date & time so I went with GA seats. (as I type this top of the 2nd and the stadium is 75% empty so I'm guessing they hold reserved seats for thier booming Groupon business) My options for ticket delivery was either will call for a $2 fee or print at home by using my own ink & paper which was also a $2 fee. I opted for will call in an effort to get my money's worth. WRONG CHOICE. Showed up at the stadium 30 minutes before first pitch and went straight to the will call table where I was told that my tickets were not there. Showed the staff member my order confirmation and even though the ticket windows were RIGHT NEXT TO THE WILL CALL TABLE, I was told by the staff member that since he didnt have the tickets at his table I would need to go to the back of the line of 75 people who were looking to buy tickets. When I asked to speak to someone in charge since I only had GA tickets amd just wanted to go in to sit on the grass, I was again told that I needed to go to the back of the box office line. Thanks to having to wait in the line I missed the top half of the 1st inning. I coud probably go and buy something from concessions to review but my guess is the food options are probably as horrible as everything else I've already experienced...I'll just keep my money in my pocket. read more

Went to baseball game with my family on July 6, 2018. Everything about the game and field is great, the food situation was horrible. By the 2nd inning, they were out of meat and beans for nachos and out of chicken and rice for rice bowls. They didn't tell their customers, so people continued to pay and lining up, but we ended up waiting over 30 minutes for them to "warm up" more food. We missed 2 innings of the game waiting on food. In the end, my daughter threw away her $9 chicken teriyaki noodle bowl after we watched the food handler grab her chicken and noodles with the gloved hands she was using to touch everything else in the food booth. The food quality is not worth paying for, or waiting for, and I'm disappointed the stadium can't execute on better food options, which will draw out more people. Guess we'll stick to the hot dogs next time. read more

I saw the "Salem-Keizer Volcanoes" play host to the Vancouver Canadians in Keizer, OR on 8/21/2012. It was my 2nd time there (I was there a couple of years ago). The Volcanoes won the game 3 to 0. The "Salem-Keizer Volcanoes" are in the NWL. Parking was $3.00, my ticket (front row) was $20.00, and the program was $2.00. I love minor league baseball. read more

We went to the Beaver - Pilot game. Fun game and we had great seats. But, how can you run a stadium and not have food ready to sell. We waited in a long line to get a sausage dog. And, when we finally got to order, we were told we had to wait 5 more minutes. What were they doing for the 45 minutes that we were in line. I could see good management running low on food or having to wait a little in the later innings while more is being made. But, how could you be unprepared for customers at a sold out ballgame in the 1st or 2nd innings? How about a little customer service. That was a management issue tonight. Really bad. read more

I absolutely love afternoons at Volcanoes Stadium! Most of the staff and vendors are very friendly and helpful. I love how they have a couple of players sitting on the concourse and signing autographs at the games. The food is priced as it would be at any sporting event but it's really good! I love their rice bowls and the Angry Orchard is always nice and cold =) Can't wait for the season to start so I can sit in my favorite section and root for the guys! read more

We attended the Beaver/Pilot game in anticipation of a wonderful evening. Instead, it was ruined by the insanely long lines to get anything to eat or drink. I waited in line for 45 minutes to get a beverage and a hotdog. It looked as though I had at LEAST another 45 minutes to get to the front of the line so I cut my losses and returned to my seat empty-handed. Others were doing the same thing. In fact, it seemed that the only movement in the lines were people opting out of the ridiculous waits. All of the other lines were moving just as slowly. I would never go back to this stadium unless I ate before i attended and required nothing to eat or drink while there. read more

Was not told there would be two separate phone charges on my bill for $1.00 each, also was charged $2.00 for being able to print the ticket at home. After spending a lot of money there over the years since it's been open my last few experiences there were finally enough for me about a year ago. I got tired of the consistently rude staff in the office by the same couple of people and found out why it's seems to be acceptable behavior after I spoke with the owner. My last experience there I attempted to purchase tickets through their website for a special event game that was on their schedule but there was no "buy ticket" link button to click on for this particular event. I called them on the phone, a young man answered & I described the problem with the website. The kid responded rather arrogantly telling me I could buy the tickets online or I could pay an additional $2 fee to purchase them over the phone (even though I just explained there was no link to pay for that event online). I reminded him of the problem & he told me he couldn't see what I was seeing because he looks at the site through an admin view (apparently nobody there can take a second to get on the internet and look at their own website as everyone else views it). I explained to him I don't want to pay and additional $2 phone fee when the option to buy online wasn't available, his reply was "I don't know what you want me to tell you, other people know how to buy them online" as if I wasn't smart enough to figure it out. I asked to speak to his supervisor and after a couple minutes of being on hold a female got on the phone & I explained the same thing to her about be website, she rudely told me that It wasn't possible buy tickets online for this specific game and that I had to buy them over the phone or in person. So after the guy basically calls me an idiot for not knowing how to click the buy button (which wasn't there) the supervisor tells me it's not possible to buy online for this one. I conveyed my displeasure with her about the horribly rude tone and comments and in the middle of my sentence I hear the guys voice in the background say something and she starts laughing and then tells him to stop. I asked her if this was her idea of customer service and she replied that she told him to stop making comments (after she was laughing about it). At this point it was clear the "supervisor" was as much of an unprofessional rude jerk as the guy was so I asked to speak to her boss and of course her reply was "he's in a meeting". I asked what the guys name was that I originally spoke with and that made the comments in the background and she paused and said "I don't want to give you his name" as if she was protecting him her boss. I asked if this was her idea of customer service, withholding information in order to stop a complaint from being up-channeled & she said "I just want to deal with him myself, I'll take care of it" I said yeah I heard by your laughter with his rude background comments what your idea of "dealing with it" is. I explained that I wanted his name or if I didn't get it I would just explain the whole situation next time I saw the owner out. She decided to give me his name and then magically the owner was done with his meeting and she put me on hold to speak with him. When the owner got on the phone I told him what happened and he rudely replied "what do you want me to do for you!?". I figured as a business person he'd want to know what his employees were doing yet he didn't seem to care as he explained to me that since he wasn't there to witness anything he couldn't know if it actually happened or not (as if I had nothing better to do with my time than make everything up). We decided that day that after years of spending our money at the Salem/Keizer Volcanoes for the love of watching baseball was no longer worth the rude disrespectful staff, outrageously priced food and a deteriorating ball park....but ultimately it was two staff members and an owner that made that decision an easy one. An update to this story was that not too long after this incident some friends of ours had attended a game and purchased their tickets at the window, without knowing about our experience yet they had told us that their night would have been better had they not had to deal with a disrespectful smart ass guy with the beard at the ticket window before the game. This is a good example of how poor leadership breeds poor management and poor employee behavior. A respectable business would treat the people that made their business survive (the customers) with some basic respect and professionalism. read more

I had to feed the kids again after we got home. One of the major downsides is that GA is basically only out in the grass out in left or right field. I love the Volcanoes! The ballpark is really nice (the grounds crew deserves a round of applause) and the staff are all friendly and welcoming. The annual salute to cancer survivors is very special for me personally, and I enjoy all the other events, too. Other people have expressed concerns about the quality of the food, and yes, it could be better. However, I don't go to the ballpark to eat...I go to watch the game. A cold drink and maybe some peanuts are enough for me. Overall a great place and a great experience! read more

The response by Jerry is completely ridiculous and flat out untruthful. If three attempts were made, one by each staff member and they're idea of making a customer happy is to first be rude, isulting and disrespectful as well as being inaccurate with the information they were providing for the initial reason behind the call and then by having the initial call taker bad mouth and disrespect the caller while he's standing next to the supervisor after she is requested and on the phone and her response is to start laughing at his comments while the customer is still on the line with her and then attempt to keep the customer from talking to management by lying about a meeting they are in and then attempting to withold the name of the initial call taker because at this point she knows she will be named in the complaint, then I would say anyone who reads these can clearly see what their idea of handling the situation is. As for the third person (the owner) his idea of taking care of the situation was to neither confirm or deny the behavior of his employees and then tell the customer he's going to end the call because it's a waste of time. Years of spending money there (and this isn't the first time we have had insulting, unprofessional behavior from the ticket office), I will find some other business that's not affliated with the owners for my friends and family to put our money towards. By the way, I'm not sure if one of the other reviews that was left on yelp here a long time ago by a former concessions stand worker who was told by the owner to scrape the mold off of the hot dogs they had been shipped and sell them anyhow is true, but after dealing with him and his staff as a customer, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. read more
