    Damn good salad!

Jan Littlejohn Local Guide·37 reviews·13 photos I dropped by after the November election and I wasn't really happy about how it turned out and my emotions were all over the place including tears. But the ladies here cheered me up and gave me hope regarding the future. My salad was missing some items I requested but I should have checked it before I left(my fault). I will be returning in better spirit. Check them out for sure!

The Salad Chic is located downtown on W. Market Street and I've been wanting to try it for a while. We went for an early lunch today at 11:30 AM. When we first arrived most of the table were empty and there was no line to order! The menu consists of mostly salad trays, where you pick your lettuce and then up to five toppings are included. The menu says $12 each, but I think they have raised prices since I was charged $13. They also have fruit cups, chicken salad sandwiches, wraps and homemade soups. I opted to build my own salad, which was overwhelming. So many choices! I chose the romaine/blend with beets, eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes and bacon bits with French dressing. I paid for my order and was given a number. Unfortunately they don't have tap water and only bottle water and tea to purchase so I didn't get a drink. We chose a high top table by the front door. Lots of seating inside, with 2 seater high tops along the wall and 2-4 seater tables in the middle. My salad arrived quickly and it was huge. The ingredients were very fresh! I had wished I would have picked more adventurous toppings, but I'll plan better next time. Towards the end of our meal the owner walked around and personally thanked us for coming in. She also recommended the chicken salad sandwich. Overall very friendly staff, plenty of seating, quick service, and many options to chose from. As we were leaving there was a line of 6-7 people, so go early and plan what you want ahead of time!

Called in my order to go. Everything was delicious! I can't wait to eat there again. The portions are huge!

Really good! My fiancé and I built our own salads for lunch. I wish I had gotten a picture before digging in because it was beautiful. Very good salads and the staff was extremely friendly. Very quick service. Only complaints are that it was a touch pricey in my opinion and that I ordered avocado as one of my toppings and got maybe half of a slice, not enough. Will be back!!

My co workers and I decided to get a few different salads from this place on Friday afternoon. This was recommended from a fellow co worker so we ordered a few different salads. I must say the size of the salad is two meals in one. They are very large and you can get any kind of salad you would like and has many add on. The price for each salad is $10 and it is worth each penny. You can add three different meats and different cheeses and dressings. It is a very tasty salad that I recommend highly.

I typed "soup" into Yelp and The SaladChic was the first place to pop-up. It's a short walk from my office so I decided to try it out and I'm so happy! First of all, everyone was so friendly to me. Since it was my first time the young woman behind the counter walked me through the ordering process and offered a few of their favorites as I made my choices. I came for the soup, but got a salad as well! The salad was super filling and had just the right amount of kick. Everything went well with the ranch dressing (I'm ranch obsessed ). Now the soup - oooh - this place is going to be on my frequent list as the weather cools. The soup comes in 16oz containers and I thought "no way am I going to finish it." And I proceeded to devour the whole thing. It's rich, creamy and hit the spot. You can tell it's all fresh. I don't particularly like cooked carrots but they add a nice flavor and texture to the soup. I basically used the saltines as a spoon. So. Good.

Oddly enough, as much as I'm in the area I had never noticed this place. We checked online. You can order online and pick it up so perfect. Order placed. ETA given. Walk to pick it up. They place your order in a bag with your name on it at the door. You don't have to speak to anyone. Perfect! Walking up to this place feels like you're transported to another dimension. It doesn't feel like Louisville at all. The place was busy. Atmosphere was inviting. I could definitely hang out there while I eat. I'll try some more of their dishes but I do have a few things to note. The cost: It's downtown so an expectation of higher prices is expected. They do give you a decent portion size but with other options and the ultimate option of bringing your lunch with you, it's going to be hard for me to revisit this place in the future. I do hope I can give their breakfast a try if I'm down there early enough. Even with their breakfast, it better be DOUBLE GOOD because the PNC building has breakfast nearby and you can have an excellent breakfast there for 5-10 bucks. The food: Achiote Chicken Taco Bowl - White rice. Achiote Chicken Thigh. Diced tomato. Monterrey jack cheese. Sour Cream. Tortilla Chips. Avo smash. Cilantro. Charred pepper ranch. It was good but nothing really stuck out about it. Bites had flavor but eventually it turned into a bland dish. I ended up saving it for later time leftovers... but when trying to eat it later on in the day, it had that same bland taste that developed. I think the biggest issue with it was all the smashed avocado. It definitely didn't need so much. It ended up overpowering all the other flavors. It's a good spot to change it up from other options downtown but I can't rave about it until I come across my 'go-to' dish here at some point.

We found nearby street parking and came right at our reservation time and were told our table wasn't ready, so we walked around outside and were able to get seated about 10 minutes later. The space is super nice and trendy, feels small but cozy, dimly lit, and trendy. Loved the lights and indoor plant vibe. Our server was super friendly, helpful, and attentive. Overall, we thought the branzino was the highlight by far, it had excellent flavor and texture. Although on the pricier side, it was nicely done, flavorful, and had good texture. The cauliflower wasn't anything crazy, but we thought we'd try it since we saw lots of reviews about it. Probably would try something different next time though. We enjoyed the hummus and pita. The rice that came with the branzino was flavorful, but not my favorite. Had a really strong sweet herb flavors that I didn't love, but maybe that's just my preference. Overall thought it was a nice experience! Big portions so we took a lot to go as well. Definitely a bit on the pricier side and didn't feel totally blown away (maybe had too high expectations from all the hype and booked out reservations), but overall good quality meal and nice for a special occasion. Would be down to come again to try other dishes!

The colorful, fun signage actually made me feel more at ease, especially since "build-your-own" spots can feel a little overwhelming at first. I appreciated that they also had pre-made menu options for those of us who don't want to think too hard. I went with the Chicken Chipotle + Tortilla broth, and my boyfriend ordered a steak bowl, both were fresh, flavorful, and honestly hit the spot. Service: Smooth and welcoming Food: Fresh, healthy, and well-seasoned Environment: Clean, bright, and easy to navigate Now, the total came to $34.81, which is a bit on the pricier side, but in today's economy, that's becoming the norm. And for where I am in my health journey, being intentional about what I put into my body matters more than anything. For me, it was worth it. The Verdict: Worth it for a fresh, healthy option, especially when you want something quick but still aligned with your goals. If you're in the Louisville area, I'd definitely recommend checking out this spot, it's the only one here, and it delivers.

Tucked away on Frankfort Avenue, it's a little off the beaten path, and parking can be an adventure. There's a small lot by the restaurant with overflow parking further down the hill. Somehow we managed to snag the only open space right outside the front door, which felt like winning a very specific Louisville lottery. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and the place was already buzzing. It was packed with locals, which is usually a good sign. While our table was being bussed, three different employees checked to make sure we were being helped. We let them know we were just a little early and waiting on our table, but it spoke volumes about the attentiveness of the staff. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a neighbourhood pizza spot: relaxed, lively, and unpretentious. The soundtrack quietly floating through the speakers was a crate-digger's delight, full of songs that have been sampled throughout hip-hop history. Hearing Lynn Collins' Think (About It) while waiting for dinner felt particularly apt following the recent passing of Rob Base. The song's iconic break became the foundation of It Takes Two, one of hip-hop's most recognisable records, and it was a nice reminder of how deeply great music connects generations. To start, we ordered the Olives & Togarashi, a bowl of Castelvetrano olives coated in a wonderfully aromatic blend of spices with notes of fennel, sesame and citrus. My son tried his first olive and was genuinely shocked by the flavour. He'll come around eventually. For the main event, we ordered three large pizzas: the DOP Margherita, the Funghi and the Original Sting. The DOP Margherita showcases imported buffalo mozzarella from Campania alongside basil and San Marzano tomatoes. The Funghi is loaded with an incredible blend of mushrooms, taleggio, pecorino cream and mozzarella. The Original Sting combines soppressata, fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato and spicy local honey in a sweet-and-savoury combination that completely works. Now, let's talk about the crust. It is perfect. Pillowy and light, yet substantial enough to give you that satisfying chew. The wood-fired oven creates just the right amount of charred bubbling around the edges. Our server offered house-made ranch and other dipping sauces for the crust, but we politely declined. This pizza doesn't need any enhancers. The balance of flavours across all three pies was exceptional. I've eaten pizza all over the world, and Pizza Lupo belongs in that conversation. It really is that good. We had a plan: sample all three pizzas and leave just enough room to split the tiramisu. Thankfully, we stuck to it. The tiramisu was fresh, light and beautifully balanced. Not overly sweet, nicely moist, with just enough espresso flavour coming through. It was the perfect finish to an outstanding meal. The service was fast without feeling rushed, friendly without feeling scripted, and genuine throughout the evening. We left full, not bloated, and happy as spring lambs, already talking about what we'd order next time. We'll defo be back. Cheers, Sam
