Cute fan shaped menu.
Michael K.

After weaving through the aisles of the nearby Ikea for what seemed like all afternoon, my daughter, wife, and I selected Sakura for dinner. We hadn't been to a Japanese steakhouse for some time and thought we were overdue. We arrived around 530pm on a Saturday evening and were promptly seated at a hibachi table. Their dining room was larger than the typical Japanese steakhouse we had frequented, in the past with perhaps twelve (12) hibachi grills to sit around. Their menu was the typical steakhouse menu with single and combination dishes. Their prices were a little cheaper than other similar places we have dined at in the past. Additionally, they did not charge extra if you wanted fried rice instead of steamed rice with your meal. My daughter selected the filet mignon, my wife shrimp and scallops, and I filet mignon and scallops. Both my daughter's and my filets were cooked medium-rare and were delicious. The portions were also very generous. The scallops were disappointing as our cook didn't season them while on the grill. Speaking of our cook, he was very distracted cooking for us to the point where some of the food was burned, particularly the shrimp appetizers. The grilled vegetables were nicely prepared and included broccoli and mushrooms, which we hadn't seen elsewhere. The cook added yum yum sauce to the fried rice, which was new to us. None of us cared much for it as it gave the fired rice an unwanted creamy taste. The portions of fried rice, though, were huge, and the others at our table seemed to enjoy it. Our server was amiable and attentive. He did a good job keeping us hydrated from the somewhat salt-heavy-handed cook. We enjoyed our visit. Sakura doesn't serve a scoop of sherbert or ice cream at the end of the meal, which we missed. The generous portions made up for it, but we would have liked a more attentive cook for our meals.

Sushi dinner and sashimi dinner.

We were afraid to try this place due to all the bad reviews but we had a gift certificate, so carpe coupie... We're not big fans of teppanyaki so we sat at the sushi bar and ordered a sushi dinner and a sashimi dinner. Both were very good. The sushi chefs were great and friendly. The folks at the teppans seemed to be having a good time. We'd go back.

Chicken Teriyaki Hibachi

This review is for take out only. We typically go to Sakura at least 3/4 times a month. Decided to order take out for the first time. Just wow on degradation the portion and taste. The food is not the same, and if I could give 0 stars I would. I'm very disappointed considering this has been one of my family's top restaurants over the last 16 years.

This wonderful restaurant has some amazing sushi and hibachi! I love the specials for the sushi and have eaten the hibachi at lunch time ! Definitely a place to return to !

I found this place to be just ok. My husband and I just had a massage and wanted a generally quick bite to eat. We didn't feel like the hibachi experience so we opted for sushi. We were the only table sitting for sushi aside from occasional take out orders coming in-out. The hibachi place was hopping but the sushi area was quiet. I liked the seaweed salad. It was fresh and balancedZ the sushi was kind of mediocre. I did not like the specialty rolls. They were not well made. The soft shell crab was overly fishy and tasted burned on the outside. The salmon skin and spicy tuna rolls were pretty good. Overall I may come back to try the hibachi but was underwhelmed by the sushi. Generally pleasant service.

Sakura Chicken Livers, hibachi chicken & shrimp

Had to drop the stars because of the hibachi meal I had for carry out. The toro was bomb nice, fatty and just so fresh tasting. The yellowtail not so much. A couple of pieces tasted kind of old and it just wasn't that great. Now the hibachi was all the way flavorless especially the "fried rice" which tasted like old rice with some eggs thrown in it. Didn't even have the mixed veggies or the fried" taste I'm use to. I had better from Trader Joe's in the frozen section! The chicken livers and shrimp were the only good thing that tasted well. Oh yeah almost forgot to mention the chicken...which was tasteless as well. So I guess I really didn't need to mention it anyways...So for future reference I will not waste money on the hibachi if I come back here. Not sure if it would have been better if I sat at the table...but I guess I won't find out because that's the last time I'll try it.

The entrance is as welcoming as you can get on a Monday. Place wasn't crowded, but on a Monday evening, there were 3 tables full of people, which is usually a great news. As we sat on the fourth table, that as well didn't take too long to fill up. These are definitely good signs for a teppanyaki restaurant. Our server, Lee was really attentive and did great with us. Never missed a bit to tend our table. Although the soup should have been warmer, the salad a little less bitter, the appetizers did not fail the mark of great taste. My wife had chicken liver, which was cooked to perfection, and my mushrooms were hot and juicy. Rest of the food tasted great, especially with the yum yum sauce; and they also came in good portion. All in all, the whole experience is definitely return trip worthy. If we are in the area, and hungry again, would love to give it another shot.

We had come late at 2 pm and the restaurant closed at 3 pm for lunch. Mia made sure I got my orders in before 2:45 pm when they stop taking orders for AYCE meal purchases for lunch time. There is an additional fee if you don't finish all the food on your plate for AYCE purchases to prevent wasting food & money and to keep prices low. The place was quiet despite having customers at a late time. Loved all the booth seating there and interior decor. It was a mix of modern design & Asian style. Very comfortable, clean, and spacious restaurant. Bathrooms were clean, chic, & modern style Large television screens in the restaurant. One of the televisions had cartoons on it - for children I guess. I selected the AYCE sushi for $27. First order was two sushi rolls: The Christmas roll and Ola sushi roll. The Christmas roll had raw salmon, avocado, masago, and tobiko. The Ola roll had eel, crab, cream cheese, and cucumber. I also two single white tuna sushi, 2 single masago sushi, and 2 single tobiko sushi. It was splendidly displayed on a wooden dragon platter. Despite being full, I ordered a second round of sushi to sample food items I never had: 1 tofu skin sushi, 1 mackerel sushi, and 1 yellowtail sushi. Plus two pieces of takoyaki or fried octopus balls. My husband ordered hibachi shrimp fried rice and said it was delicious. We both ordered Diet Coke. I made a mental note about how I should have skipped meals for two days instead of one before coming here for AYCE. Total price along with two drinks was $43. Not including tips for our server and the sushi chefs. They do give military discount with ID. Definitely a go see restaurant for great Japanese cuisine and AYCE. If you go for the AYCE meal deal, try skipping 2-3 meals and eat it on an empty stomach.

We never felt rushed and honestly felt like they'd probably wanted to just keep feeding us lol but either way they were super Duper nice and I would come back for the service alone. The interior was pretty nice and spacious. It's a pretty generous menu of both hot appetizers, cold appetizers, and sushi. Kids under 4 are free. We very much enjoyed the beef dumplings, crab Rangoon, and shrimp tempura. The kitchen appetizers are spot on and fried to perfection!! The sushi was pretty good, although I would personally prefer the rice to be a little softer. The fish, however, was tasty well prepared. Avocado was very fresh and flavorful. My husband also tried the mackerel which he enjoyed. Overall I definitely give the place at least four stars. We come back and probably bring our toddler and see what he thinks!!

After being seated around 8 PM, we didn't see a cook until about 9 PM. During that time, we even had to flag down waitstaff just to get water. I also failed to mention that while we were waiting in the bar area, I ordered an appetizer and they bought me out the wrong thing. I ordered the steamed shrimp shumai and they bought me out fried shrimp shumai. When I asked the waitress about this, she said she didn't know why and that was all she said. I understand it was Valentine's Day and things can be busy, so I tried to be patient. However, the restaurant didn't appear overly crowded, and it was disappointing to see three tables who arrived after us receive a cook before we did. To top it off, there was an automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill, which may explain the lack of attentiveness we experienced. I'd be open to giving this place another try, but probably not on a holiday.

Eggs & Sushi is one of those hideouts and if you're not careful, might end up eating 7k calories before you leave. You'll only know this place exists if you live or work in the Lorton area where Eggs & Sushi stands firm. If not for Google Maps, you may drive on by without a thought. I stopped because their simple sign but just some quirky in a strange way caught my eye and it's in the middle of a warehouse street where you would not expect food places to be. Surprisingly, there are always little cafes in these kind of places that feed the immediate workers there. They are sometimes the hidden gems nobody will hear about unless you work in that area. This is one of them. Walking in, it feels like a small diner, yellow walls, lots of menu above the grill area displayed on multiple screens, properly lit dining area. They take orders at the end and at a kiosk as well. Window seats, couple of tables, and some bar seats also. Seems simple enough but this place is the ultimate trap for the hungry. Be careful! When you look up, you realize they have a vast menu and varied in the most fantastic way. You have your generic American style food, eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, sandwiches, coffee, smoothie, an all day breakfast menu. Then you keep walking around to look at the menu, you see sushi, rolls, poke bowls, ramen, some dons, etc. You might think, hmm, they might be overloaded on the menu. Wrong! They make fantastic sandwiches! Smaller not overpriced ramen but with lots of oomph flavor! These guys bring the umami and drip it like masters. The dons hit, the ramen hits, the sandwiches hit, and my all time favorite breakfast item, the elegantly simple French toast hits. They are serving hits here and only a few know about it. Service was adequate from their high school kid waiters. The owners at the grill are very friendly if you get a chance to interact with them. Just a very chill ambience. It's diner that makes me want to move to Lorton. If you find yourself here one day, be careful. The menu makes you want to try everything. I haven't touch everything yet so I'm definitely coming back to try more. I just hope all these reviews won't mean I can't find my cozy window seat in the future.
