    Cute fan shaped menu.

After weaving through the aisles of the nearby Ikea for what seemed like all afternoon, my daughter, wife, and I selected Sakura for dinner. We hadn't been to a Japanese steakhouse for some time and thought we were overdue. We arrived around 530pm on a Saturday evening and were promptly seated at a hibachi table. Their dining room was larger than the typical Japanese steakhouse we had frequented, in the past with perhaps twelve (12) hibachi grills to sit around. Their menu was the typical steakhouse menu with single and combination dishes. Their prices were a little cheaper than other similar places we have dined at in the past. Additionally, they did not charge extra if you wanted fried rice instead of steamed rice with your meal. My daughter selected the filet mignon, my wife shrimp and scallops, and I filet mignon and scallops. Both my daughter's and my filets were cooked medium-rare and were delicious. The portions were also very generous. The scallops were disappointing as our cook didn't season them while on the grill. Speaking of our cook, he was very distracted cooking for us to the point where some of the food was burned, particularly the shrimp appetizers. The grilled vegetables were nicely prepared and included broccoli and mushrooms, which we hadn't seen elsewhere. The cook added yum yum sauce to the fried rice, which was new to us. None of us cared much for it as it gave the fired rice an unwanted creamy taste. The portions of fried rice, though, were huge, and the others at our table seemed to enjoy it. Our server was amiable and attentive. He did a good job keeping us hydrated from the somewhat salt-heavy-handed cook. We enjoyed our visit. Sakura doesn't serve a scoop of sherbert or ice cream at the end of the meal, which we missed. The generous portions made up for it, but we would have liked a more attentive cook for our meals.

    Sushi dinner and sashimi dinner.

We were afraid to try this place due to all the bad reviews but we had a gift certificate, so carpe coupie... We're not big fans of teppanyaki so we sat at the sushi bar and ordered a sushi dinner and a sashimi dinner. Both were very good. The sushi chefs were great and friendly. The folks at the teppans seemed to be having a good time. We'd go back.

This review is for take out only. We typically go to Sakura at least 3/4 times a month. Decided to order take out for the first time. Just wow on degradation the portion and taste. The food is not the same, and if I could give 0 stars I would. I'm very disappointed considering this has been one of my family's top restaurants over the last 16 years.

This wonderful restaurant has some amazing sushi and hibachi! I love the specials for the sushi and have eaten the hibachi at lunch time ! Definitely a place to return to !

I found this place to be just ok. My husband and I just had a massage and wanted a generally quick bite to eat. We didn't feel like the hibachi experience so we opted for sushi. We were the only table sitting for sushi aside from occasional take out orders coming in-out. The hibachi place was hopping but the sushi area was quiet. I liked the seaweed salad. It was fresh and balancedZ the sushi was kind of mediocre. I did not like the specialty rolls. They were not well made. The soft shell crab was overly fishy and tasted burned on the outside. The salmon skin and spicy tuna rolls were pretty good. Overall I may come back to try the hibachi but was underwhelmed by the sushi. Generally pleasant service.

Had to drop the stars because of the hibachi meal I had for carry out. The toro was bomb nice, fatty and just so fresh tasting. The yellowtail not so much. A couple of pieces tasted kind of old and it just wasn't that great. Now the hibachi was all the way flavorless especially the "fried rice" which tasted like old rice with some eggs thrown in it. Didn't even have the mixed veggies or the fried" taste I'm use to. I had better from Trader Joe's in the frozen section! The chicken livers and shrimp were the only good thing that tasted well. Oh yeah almost forgot to mention the chicken...which was tasteless as well. So I guess I really didn't need to mention it anyways...So for future reference I will not waste money on the hibachi if I come back here. Not sure if it would have been better if I sat at the table...but I guess I won't find out because that's the last time I'll try it.

The entrance is as welcoming as you can get on a Monday. Place wasn't crowded, but on a Monday evening, there were 3 tables full of people, which is usually a great news. As we sat on the fourth table, that as well didn't take too long to fill up. These are definitely good signs for a teppanyaki restaurant. Our server, Lee was really attentive and did great with us. Never missed a bit to tend our table. Although the soup should have been warmer, the salad a little less bitter, the appetizers did not fail the mark of great taste. My wife had chicken liver, which was cooked to perfection, and my mushrooms were hot and juicy. Rest of the food tasted great, especially with the yum yum sauce; and they also came in good portion. All in all, the whole experience is definitely return trip worthy. If we are in the area, and hungry again, would love to give it another shot.

I did that, got the text, then a few minutes later it got canceled because I wasn't there yet. I called back and explained what I was told, and they fixed it. When I got there, the line was long, so I'm glad I did that ahead of time. Service was a little slow, and it seemed like they might've been short staffed. We had to wait for a lot of things, and they were out of quite a few items. My brother ordered chicken tenders and they later said they were out. They didn't have the sauce for the lamb chops, and I wanted mac and cheese without bacon but they didn't have that option. But the food we did get was really good. The lamb chops were good, this was my sister's first time trying them and she loved them. The spinach dip with pita bread was good, and the complimentary bread and mashed potatoes were good too. I ended up getting parmesan crusted fries instead of the mac and cheese, and those were good too. My siblings didn't really like the lemonades, but everything else made up for it. They also gave them a little birthday treat, which was really sweet. Overall, even with a few issues, we all agreed this is one of the best restaurants we've been to. The place was clean, the food was good, and we'll go again soon.

He gave us the history of the restaurant, it used to be at the watergate hotel and former president Reagan was a huge fan of the restaurant. Right after he got shot his wife had a surprise birthday party here. The original chef passed away and they lost their lease so this is the location now. Just some fyi for all you history buffs. The food was fantastic yet again. For the hors d'Œuvres we got the Merguez which was lamb sausage with ratatouille. It was very good. We also got a Brie and prosciutto platter with pickles and spiced pears in a red wine sauce. It was interesting for sure. The Brie was St Stephen's from Stephentown NY. I love Brie and this was a good one. Very interesting flavors. I got the seafood special this time. It was scallops, risotto, asparagus, and a shrimp crab cake. I wasn't a big fan of the shrimp crab cake it was dry but everything else paired well. My husband got the filet mignon. The side was these stuffed potatoes and asparagus. The stuffed potatoes were stuffed with a creamy filling almost like crab Rangoon but better. So yum. The waiter found out it was our anniversary and he went all out. He also gave me half a dozen roses and proposed to me in front of my husband . Yall just go here, and ask for Dennis to be your waiter. He's the best.

Outside sitting, full large bar, sports on several TVs above the center of the bar, and a lot of servers milling around here. Great lighting, not loud but not quiet either, just chill. We were starved so our eyes ate. Brunch was still being served till 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays so I grabbed the French Toast and the Steak and Eggs. My friend had allergies with gluten so she went with a salmon and some super salad dish. She was happy as all the dishes had markers for gluten free, food free, soul free, etc. Very helpful for all allergy infused humans. Great waitress btw. Fantastic service. Food came after some time, we requested for everything to come out on time. Steak and egg was okay but I'd go with the prime rib next time. The steak came out sliced with 2 poached eggs on top. The hash on the side was on point. Salmon okay too. Salad was okay but we should have added a protein on top. A little dry on dressing maybe but we could have requested more so that's on us. On the other hand, the French toast had me scratching my head. It was cubed challah bread but eggs was 0, zero, nada eggs on it. I thought I was eating croutons which would have gone great with the super salad dish thinking about it now. The French toast really bunched up my undies, French toast is my favorite breakfast thing you see. They explained it was prepped that way for allergy sake due to the egg. Well, I'm not allergic and never said I was, but my friend was but she wasn't eating my dish so why make it in this fashion. Overall, this experience was just okay. Nice environment and service but I realized how lucky I am not to be allergic cause if I have to eat French toast like this forever, I'm not sure what to do. Definitely not up to eating croutons with syrup.
