Every year, I am out this way for a conference, and every year I make sure to have at least one meal here (if not two or three). The food is outstanding. Service is quick and friendly. It is a small hole in the wall restaurant with a few tables and some seats at the sushi bar. It's a great place to get some food in a small setting. I'll be back next year. read more

Could have done better in their seating arrangement and lighting. Started ordering sushis and appetizers. Very unhappy that we paid $17.25 on their #20 Salmon Teriyaki, vegetable tempura and 4 pcs of CA role. They literally gave us a super skinny end part of a salmon fillet. Through the few times I have ordered here, I would say only get sushi here if you are in desperate need of it. If I had to give one tip, about eating here is do not order any roll with raw fish. I'm not sure if this place has sashimi, but do not order it. The raw fish always tastes of poor quality, does not taste fresh, and at times would taste rancid. Therefore, don't order any rolls that contain raw fish. I have tried many rolls in order to understand this restaurant strong and weak points. One notable roll is the basic salmon roll. Like stated, the salmon was definitely poor quality. On todays trip I tried the dragon roll, and it was delicious. The cooked eel with avocado, and the eel sauce really do make a flavorful roll. I love philly's roll's but in this place I did not appreciate it. Instead, I preferred california rolls which are just philly roll's without the cream cheese. Las Vegas roll's are also my favorite sushi rolls. Unfortunately, at this place it is not as crispy and the fillings are not as flavorful. The cca roll is good because they are generous with the tempura. In terms of the quality, ordering cooked rolls or even rolls with imitation crab are recommended. Avoid rolls with raw fish. The presentation is always nice, when taken to go. Now I definitely have a problem with the pricing. The pricing is the main reason I give this place 2 stars instead of 3. This place is incredibly overprices for what you are getting. The quality of food is not that good, but the prices are around $4-$7 higher than other sushi places. The portions are small. They give usually around 8 pieces. Many restaurants use a much larger nori sheet, in order to have more pieces. In other words the food is poor quality, overpriced, small portion. The flavor is there, but honestly, just go to other sushi places. The service is really pretty. It upsets me that I give this place 2 stars cause of the nice people. The time they out your food is usually fast. They prioritize small orders which is nice. The ambiance of the restaurant is also nice. I can picture a cozy place to dine when it reopens. The place is clean. Though, one issue I have is on every visit either a staff is not wearing a mask, or they are wearing it in a way that reveals their nose. The parking is kinda hard. Although, it's a big lot, it's hard to find parking because of the supermarket nearby. To end this lengthy review, I suggest only eating at sakura sushi if you are desperate to satisfy your craving. read more

This has been a restaurant my family and I have visited for quite some time. Personally, I've always enjoyed the ambiance because for such a small space, it feels more comfortable than claustrophobic. It isn't the fanciest place but their sushi is one I've continuously come back to. They're consistent in terms of service, taste, and atmosphere. Service-wise: They tend to be the kind of sushi bar that greets you as soon as you walk in. Menu already in hand, gesturing to the next available table, or pen in hand waiting to take your to-go order. They could be a bit invasive when there aren't many customers there which may at times feel uncomfortable because it's like they're just waiting for you to finish your food so they can take your plate already! BUT, at the same time your glass of water never goes dry. Also, it is nice when the sushi chefs know you because typically eel sauce would be $1 extra but by being a familiar face, you get little perks. Taste-wise: The sushi is fresh. However, like I said, Sakura isn't the fanciest of sushi joints one may come across but they're presentation and quality is fairly good for such a small business. They play around with new recipes so earlier tonight I took a chance and ordered their "T-Rex Roll" (inside: spicy imitation crab, outside: seared tuna, green onions, masago; $10.95). The chef delivered and both my dad and I enjoyed it! My usual order though would be Sushi Combo #5 (6 Spicy Tuna/CA Rolls, 6 Tuna rolls, & 5 chef choices). For all the times I've ordered that which is practically every time, I have always enjoyed it. Not to mention that $13 for that amount of sushi is a steal, in my opinion. Their prices on appetizers are a mild bit steep though. Atmosphere-wise: Don't get me wrong the venue is a tad bit small where all the tables are on the left-hand side as the bar is occupied on the right. Somehow even with the dim lighting, the restaurant provides a nice sense of comfortability. They had a wide-screen TV for the Lakers game that is normally already tuned into on any given night & they have a lit-up aquarium which is easy on the eyes for both kid and adult to enjoy. I've recommended this place quite a few times especially because it's one of the easiest places to catch up at over dinner when everyone's busy working. Main Advice: Become a regular. Servers are friendly, they'd put the customer info on file which makes me feel more close to them. It's a place good for friends, couple, and maybe little family cuz the space is not that big, but with comfortable environment. Purchased sushi today and asked for an Alaskan roll along with other rolls. Disappointed is an under statement because it was not cheap. $80 for 4 rolls + dinner plate; and the Alaskan roll was literally inedible and made with only half the ingredients and tons of rice instead of actual fish. I ended up spitting it out. Also asked for a yellow dragon roll which only had 2 little pieces of shrimp tempura only on the last piece and all other pieces had absolutely no fish whatsoever and NO eel sauce as described. The other rolls seemed dry and they charge $1 per sauce if you want. Do not recommend this place because the quality is not worth $80. read more

I love it here. Their sushi is by far the best and tastiest on this side of the valley and also, the most generous in size/portion for what you pay. It's nice and cozy on the inside and their is a cute little aquarium I love to look at whenever I come. Service is good too--attentive and kind employees that I recognize most every time that I am here. They offer dine in and take out which is also very convenient. My favorite things to order here are their lobster roll and hot hot hot roll for sushi, green tea for my drink, and deep fried green tea ice cream for dessert. read more

DEFINITELY THE BEST SUSHI PLACE IN TOWN!!!!! i used to live in Panorama city and ill go to this place at least 1-2 times a week, this place is the BOMB!!!! i live 30 minutes away from it and i dont mind do the drive to it, i tried other places but they dont get even close to SAKURA.
