Fed 4 people with apps, soups, salads and specialty rolls. all sub a Benjamin. And we had togo boxes! They give fried wontons and sauce when you sit. Went through them faster than EL Taco shop chips and salsa. They were definitely a huge hit with everyone. We had a Bento Box that was filled with yummy tempura veggies and the specialty rolls were delicious. I had the Cowboy roll and they added masago (sp) and crunchies to it for me. The server overheard us talking about being her birthday and the owner brought out a plate of sweet treats for desert. Definitely worth coming back! read more

I've tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt multiple times as it's close and affordable - but today's experience was awful. The sushi is 6/10. Not terrible. But not great either. Fish and other raw food is kept at room temperature which isn't always a welcoming notion. This was my fifth visit. Four of five visits had screaming infants and children's YouTube videos blaring in the background. NOT a restaurant for peace and quiet. When ordering a roll, I was offered the choice of soy or seaweed wrap. I opted for soy and my roll arrived a couple minutes later. The sushi itself wasn't bad, but again the bombardment of an infant screaming and YouTube programming really detracted from the experience. I'm uncertain as to why some parents believe their three month old would benefit from a raw fish experience. Unfortunately come time to pay, I noticed a little extra than advertised on my bill - an up charge for soy paper. Now small amounts aren't normally a big concern - provided the customer is notified of an upcharge fee when ordering. Not only was I not told, but it's not mentioned anywhere on the menu. When I inquired about it, my server was kind enough to take it off the bill. However, he then proceeded to argue that "generally people just should know that it costs more" and "nobody really says anything". Look - it's a matter of principle. The cost of doing business is what it is. But TELL people you're going to charge them extra. DON'T sneak it on to the bill and assume everyone knows. That's a shady nickel-and-diming tactic that will eventually get noticed. And don't try to defend it when you're caught red handed. read more

I have met the rudest hostess in my 60 years of dining out. The hostess was on the phone so I waited just a moment when a waitress came out and motioned me to a table. She brought sat me and put down a little dish of wonton strips and dipping sauce. I told her that I would like to place my order to go but would eat the chips while I waited for my to go order to finished. She said "no problem, they are free anyway." A minute later the hostess came back and said, "You can't sit here, this is for dine-in customers. You have to sit over there." It took every fiber of my being not to flip out and walk out the door. She went on to say, "We sat you there because you said there was only one of you." I said, "No, I didn't say anything because you were on the phone at the time and the waitress sat me over there." The service here is really good, staff very nice and friendly. Always making sure I ah e what I need. Yes sometimes they get busy and you have to wait a lil while, but the food is fresh. My favorite/go-to sushi restaurant in the area that provides parking and has a great staff. Their menu is large with many options, not just sushi. They have great combination/box sets to choose from. Pricing is fair. Food is yummy. Spicy mayo has an after taste I am not use to. Finally we have a sushi restaurant on the east side of town. If you strictly want the Pros & Cons, scroll to the bottom of this review. This building was a Pizza Hut for many many years. It has since been several other businesses that didn't last long at all. Sakura opened roughly 10-14 days ago. It is very nice inside & decorated beautifully. They did a great job reinventing the space. Which is difficult since it is a small building when you compare it to other sushi restaurants in town. We arrived with 2 friends around 1:15pm & the seats were about 1/3 full. Our 1st waitress was polite but seemed to struggle with her English. We decided to order soups & apps while we continued to look at the menu. She took our drink order & my wife and I ordered miso soup. But before we could order our crab rangoons, the waitress left the table. About 10 minutes later, she came with our drinks & I told her we weren't done ordering when she walked away. We ordered the crab rangoons & so did our friends. They were delicious. To me, it's easy to mess these up if you don't have the right combination or ratio of ingredients. The miso soup was also very good. Another 10 minutess passed & a new waitress showed up to complete our order. She recognized our friends because she works at the Gourmet House on the east side. She had already stopped by the table prior to this to grab empty plates. She began taking our order as though we hadn't had anything yet, asking if we wanted soups or apps. I reminded her she had just grabbed those dishes from us. She said " Oh did you order it with the other waitress or..." Or what? How else would we have gotten it? Anyway, we placed our order which was as follows: Me: Shrimp Yakisoba & 1 order of the 2 piece salmon nigiri sushi (which I pointed to on the menu as I ordered since she seemed confused) My wife: Filet Minion (medium rare) & seared scallop dinner with extra mushrooms in the veggies Our friends: (Her) Seaweed salad & 3 rolls for $10.99 special (Him) Steak (medium rare) & Shrimp dinner By the time our entrees began to arrive, there was only 1 table with patrons still there. It became very clear that they had waited quite some time before beginning to prepare our order. Her seaweed salad came out 1st & 5 mins later her husbands meal came. He was pleased & said it tasted good. When he was almost done eating, the waitress walked up with what she called the salmon box sushi dish. I told her it was not what I ordered , and repeated my order. She went to the girl behind the register to clear it up & I could hear her explaining what I did in fact order. The waitress came up with a to-go menu & pointed to the section that I had pointed to when I ordered. She asked if I wanted sushi or sashimi. I repeated my order once more. At this point, my wife was upset with how long it was taking since at this point, we were the only people left in there. About 5 minutes later, our dishes arrived along with our friend's rolls. My wife's added mushrooms for her veggies were on top of my dish instead. The waitress said she would get her a side order of mushrooms. A little while later she brought my 2 piece sushi order. The salmon was fresh & was a nice size on top of the rice. The rice however was an odd color, similar to brown rice, but it wasn't brown rice. Although it was the ratio of rice to fish that I prefer (not a huge wad of rice with a tiny piece of fish) it didn't hold together well at all when I picked it up with the chopsticks. My wife enjoyed her meal. The filet was very tender & flavorful, as we're the scallops. The rice however, was bland. This is one thing we had been told by others who ate there already. I enjoyed my meal with 2 exceptions. The misguided mushrooms were soggy & tasted like old oil. I love mushrooms & put them in plenty of dishes, but these were gross. I am also a veggie lover. But these appeared to be previously frozen because they were so tiny & soggy. The onions were fresh. Most any Chinese or Japanese dishes (even on a buffet) are fresh cut veggies & are typically cooked half way. There veggies consisted of broccoli, zucchini, onions, bell peppers & baby corn. I did love the noodles & the overall flavor was good. The waitress eventually came check on us & I told her not to bother with the salad that came with my wife's dinner since she had not brought it out & we were done eating. Sje tried to divert attention from what I had just said by saying " You like the mShe said "Oh yeah, I forgot the salad. Sorry". I then asked for 2 boxes, 1 for me & 1 for our friend's rolls. Ten minutes later, I shouted across the room (which isn't far) If we could please have 2 boxes. She says "Oh yes, I get them right now". She came over with the boxes & our bill, which she had deducted $2.00 for the missing salad. Pros: Overall the food was good & you can't beat the prices. Clean & nicely decorated. Cons: Painfully slow service & repeated mistakes. Veggies not fresh. read more

The tuna tataki is some of the best I've ever had. The tuna tartare is also one of my favorites. I've been three times and got these two items each time. The prices are also inexpensive which is nice. I gave 4/5 because some of the rolls are hit or miss. I've had some I really enjoyed and others that weren't so great. The atmosphere/appearance is also a little off. I don't feel like the appearance matches the food, and the music choices can sometimes be distracting. read more

I ordered for pick up, had never stepped inside the restaurant before. We got multiple specialty rolls to split and a few boxes, and a kids meal. When I arrived it was drizzling at night, I walk In and the hostess already knows who I am, somehow. She went through every item I ordered, made sure I had everything I needed, she even gave me a free mushroom soup (which was delicious) and a free tea. BUT THE BEST PART, to me anyway, I was trying to hold and gather all my items to bring them out to my car, she said "no,no,no you go ahead, I'll carry this" she carried all of my food to my car, in the rain! My co-worker ordered crawfish rolls and it reeked of fish and she said it tasted as such. This place is actually pretty good. I ordered the Hibachi lunch, which was rather tasty. I ate it too fast, so I didn't end up taking any pictures. I will say the veggies were a bit soggy...The tempura fried cheesecake was truly out of this world. I still just think the flavor profile of that thin, crisp crust combined with the delicate texture of cheesecake is just genius. On another occasion, I ordered crab Rangoon and a fried shrimp roll. We went in for lunch at noon. Service was fast and staff was friendly. The food was ok if you need something quick, its just not very tasty. Inside was very dark, cold and messy. I have picked up food from here twice while in town for business. I ordered the clear soup, salad, tuna tataki, crab naruto, and the hibachi vegetables. The seasoning on the vegetables is delicious and I can say that I will never be able to order from there again without ordering them. The crab naruto is simple and to the point and didn't come with the scallion and masago listed on the menu, but tasty none the less. In the future I am going to maybe add avocado if they allow to the naruto. The tuna tataki was good, but I don't think I would order again. Clear soup is simple and good. I was a bet skeptical at first being the prices where so low compared to the local competitors. Surprisingly so the food was well pretty good. There where a few concerns with the Hibachi vegetables as they were cooked down too much and the sauce they used made it seemed like they were soaking in for while before being cooked. The veggies were wilted but still tasted ok About 2.5 stars. As far as the sushi goes they were consistent and tasted good about 3.5 stars. Staff was friendly and courteous. Fried wontons with sweet chili dipping sauce arrived free with our drinks. Tuna tataki was fresh and we scarfed it down too quickly. My fiancé ordered filet mignon and lobster hibachi. (usual sides: soup, salad, hibachi vegetables, and fried rice) He said it was all very good. The lobster was grilled with great flavor. I have to comment on the soup. It was the best clear soup ever. He also ordered the roll that has fried shrimp, fried catfish, and fried soft shell crab. I personally think it needed an asparagus or a jalapeño or an avocado but don't get me wrong, the roll was really good. I ordered the sushi sandwich which I will order again every time I go. It was so fresh and so amazing. I also ordered the 911 roll which was also delicious and fresh. Our entire bill was rounded around $70 which at any other sushi joint, it would have been a heck of a lot more than that. We are returning customers for sure. read more
