Great meal. Fresh and hot. Waitresses on the ball for picking up plates and getting beverage refills. Reasonably priced for seniors.

Pretty good food here. Best to go during typical busy hours. That way the food tends to be fresher. Staff is good, quick and friendly.

The turkey is always done to perfection, the ham yummy and plenty of sides and desserts. The salad bar was completely vacant, however...this was somewhat disheartening, considering how supposedly "health minded" American adults are these days. That was our first stop of the day. Cabbage slaw, carrot salad, macaroni salad, olives, huge delicious slices of beautiful tomatoes, gorgeous slices of cucumbers, nicely green lettuce, several types of peppers and ham. Cheese, salad dressing of every kind...best stop so far! Smoked pork, ribs, fried fish, yeast rolls, sliced roast beef, ham, turkey slices, meatloaf, fried chicken, baked chicken, green bean casserole, mac & cheese, cornbread dressing, turkey gravy, mashed potatoes, lima beans, black eyed peas, creamed corn, greens, rice, fried okra... Pumpkin pie, pecan pie, lemon meringue, peach cobbler, soft serve ice cream, chocolate cream pie, cookies, brownies...oh, I'm exhausted just from trying to list everything! There was so so so much more than what I even listed here, plus the absolute best waitress and Arnold Palmer maker! Why cook at home, burden yourself, spend HOURS cleaning up afterwards and hours more packing everything away? Take yourself and your loved ones out to Ole Times Country Buffet just one time for the holidays and you'll never go back to cooking again! (I sure haven't)

So I had to check it out. There are three separate seating areas. Plenty of tables and booths. It's like a lot of other buffets: you seat yourself and serve yourself everything except your drink. You pay at the register when you leave ($15). You can get food to go as well and they will weigh your container. The buffet itself is pretty small but has everything you'd want: grilled chicken, fried chicken, fish, chicken dumplings, mashed potatoes, beans, corn bread, etc. There is a separate salad buffet and dessert buffet. Service was friendly and efficient. Paying was quick and easy. Bathrooms were clean. And did I mention the fried chicken was perfect and the cobbler outstanding?

The building…read moreis plenty worn around the edges, booths have certainly seen better days, but country humor and hospitality abound. They sell seasonal produce from behind the front counter as well. Everyone is super-nice though you won't normally need much interaction with the waitstaff: you just say what you want to drink, they bring it to you, and you go get your buffet. I don't know if there is also a kitchen menu to order or not, but everyone goes for the buffet--that's clear. The menu changes daily and is written very neatly up on a small chalk board in the front however it's going to be country cookin' at it finest regardless. Saturday night is apparently the fish fry: they had a variety of fried seafood plus a shrimp scampi and fried chicken--also ribs I believe. They apparently always have fried chicken and it's very good fried chicken, too--not the very best I've ever had, but quite good. Of what they had on Saturday night that was good--beyond the fried chicken--I'm a fan of the mac'n'cheese (very good), butter beans, fried mullet (local I would bet, tasted very fresh), coleslaw, and hush puppies. The fried shrimp and shrimp scampi on the other hand seemed to be from frozen and not very good, overcooked. Crayfish were ok. Sweet potato casserole was bland--I've had much better. They fixed four or five cobblers and those I tried were pretty good--apple, peach, and a bread pudding-like one with blueberries. It's not quite five-star but it's an experience at a good price and overall good food. I'd be curious to try the lunch buffet--I kind of felt they were just trying too hard at the Saturday dinner and had a bit too much out to have quality the highest across the board. Still for $17 including your drink you cannot beat an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring very good fried chicken and the other fixin's plus fried mullet--I mean, forget all the other main dishes, that's plenty and a deal at that price. Certainly worth checking out if in Madison.

I noticed today that someone deleted that review and most of the other ones from other people. Didn't think they can delete their reviews.... Today the food honestly wasn't as good as last time. A few months ago 3/4 of what I got off the hot bar buffet was good. Today only about 1/4 of it was good. I ended up getting the salad bar which was really good and a lot of desserts which were also really good (btw; I love desserts). The staff and service were super nice and friendly. I think they need to improve on their cooking skills in the kitchen. * So today; the service I gave a 5. Salad bar and desserts I'll give a 4. The hot bar buffet I give a 1to 2.

I never saw my server. I never received the Dr. Pepper I purchased. I did not complain because I was leaving. After eating my salad, in which the lettuce had dirt on it, I went for the entrees. MISTAKE. I should have left at the salad. The mashed potatoes were runny. The maccaroni and cheese had absolutely no flavor at all. The BBQ chicken was so dry and chewy I could not eat it. Finally, the baker came out and announced he had fresh cinnamon rolls. I headed up to get one. It tasted like week old dough. Do I recommend this place? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Do yourself a favor and eat cardboard. It's much cheaper. The $20.73 price tag was outrageous for such a mediocre meal. I did not take photos. I didn't want my camera to break.

I requested eggs to be cooked over medium and they were absolutely perfect!!! I was thrilled because this is not a typically happens when I order this type of egg. That tater tots Tasted like they were cooked in fresh oil and the bacon was amazing. A friend ordered the same except with home fries and a hot cake. She was a little bummed at the home fries as they were just sliced & just not what she expected. Her eggs and bacon were also amazing and her hot cake was wonderful. Coffee was nice and strong with good flavor. I visited the restroom and although the building is obviously old it was very clean. Crystal was our server and she was warm and engaging. 10/10. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area!!

I've tried the Mapo Tofu, the Sesame Tofu, and the General Tso's Tofu and they were all amazing. I keep going back for the General's Tofu with vegetable fried rice on the side. I eat a mostly vegetarian diet, so I haven't tried many of their meat options. I did enjoy the Crab Rangoon, the Shrimp Rolls, and the Spring Rolls however.
