The storefront is surprisingly small and the inside is pretty cramped. We ordered a lot of things but just to get a server to give us menus and bring us waters took almost 10 minutes. Service was quite slow and getting our check took the longest. However, waiting for the actual food to come turned out to be not quite as bad. We got a bento box dinner, roll, separate salad (my BF couldn't help ordering this as an extra even though it's supposed to come with most entrees) and a fried collarbone of a tuna (forgot this term). Prices were slightly higher than other places like this but it did have this gigantic menu that was fun to browse. Taste and presentation of dishes were fine. Nothing really stood out. It wasn't really a place I was excited to go to again, especially not on a weekend. I came here on a weeknight with a friend. The lot had ample parking and it was easy to get a seat right away. Our server was friendly and made some great suggestions. She advised us on which rolls were extra spicy and to get the oil on the side which was a great save since my friend felt that had she not removed it, the roll would have been too spicy for her to eat. I ordered the katsu curry with pork and the portion was huge. I had enough to take home for a second meal and the taste was very similar to what I had when I visited Japan. How is it possible that Akron, Ohio has such a great sushi spot? Crazy, but it's true. I have been dining here since 2003 and I have never had a bad meal! The service is always great. The sushi chefs are working nonstop, but are also friendly. It is usually pretty lively in the restaurant and can be loud at times. It's never been a bother, however. I asked my very friendly server, Tiffany, about one of the Specialty Drinks, the Wasabi Ginger Martini ($10). She said it was her favorite so I ordered it & it was refreshing w/ only a hint of Wasabi. No lunch specials on Sundays or I would have ordered the Chirashi which was a great deal. The lunch special had 10 pieces for $13.95 & dinner entree had 15 for $18.95, including Miso Soup & salad. Too much food for me so I ordered the Salmon Avocado Roll ($6.25) & Pepper Tuna ($9.25) w/ no smelt & extra ginger, but they charged me $0.50 for extra wasabi. I also ordered a Perrier Water which was $3.25, basically half of a roll. I was going to get a hot green tea, but they didn't have Splenda. Not a problem, but it got pretty pricey in a miscellaneous way. Overall, the food, service & ambience were outstanding. It was $31.23 + $6 tip for one person so if you're on a budget, come on the weekdays for lunch. As I said, the lunch specials look fantastic & half the price. I am on vacation & in Vegas, these prices would be normal to me. Also they have a large Specialty drink list & full bar. The tako salad (octopus) is amazingly succulent and flavorful. The hubs orders some kind of dinner combo and received what basically looked like a beautiful box of seafood chock-full of fish, rice, tamago, etc... It was such a bright, fun collection of food. I got the green spider roll and the Yishi shrimp roll. Both were excellent...they had a lot of texture...I love sushi rolls that have a crunch. Stopped here on a whim after going to bomba and they didn't have their full menu, we ordered 5 rolls and there was more than enough for three people, the rolls were a good size portion and they gave you plenty of sauce on the side for dipping so don't order extra! The Phoenix roll was probably my favorite. The dine in part of the restaurant is closed, you order through a window where the employee is 6 feet back behind another window, only one person in to order and pickup at a time but it goes fast. Got some delicious takeout on Christmas Eve. I got the Super Maki Roll and a side salad. The Super Maki comes with crab salad, tempura shrimp, asparagus, and is topped with eel sauce. Sakura was recommended by a fellow business traveler at the Holiday Inn. When I looked them up on yelp and found stellar reviews, I knew I had a winner. Restaurant is located in a sprawling strip mall. The sushi bar is large, with at least ten seats. Three sushi chefs were kept busy the Thursday night I was there. The sushi menu is extensive, with the basic rolls and sushi/sashimi (both come two per order, with an average price around $5), but most of the menu is 'special rolls'. Dozens and dozens of special rolls. They would benefit from a picture menu (hint!). I went with the scallop sushi and Twin Brother roll. The scallops were very fresh, sweet and smooth. The TB roll was spicy fried crawfish and cucumber inside with shrimp, sliced avocado and fish eggs on top. They also drizzled on eel sauce - I would have preferred a spicier sauce, but the roll was still tasty. $13 for 8 large pieces (slightly larger than Cali roll, for comparison). After watching my sushi chef (the one in front of me, who made my first rolls and sent out a little bowl of shredded krab and octopus - love that!!) make a roll wrapped in camo-colored soybean paper with a large crustacean tail sticking out, I had to ask what it was. Cowboy Maki. After checking the menu - tempura lobster tail (!) with cucumber, spicy sauce and fish eggs for $9 - yep, sign me up! While not the largest lobster tail ever, it was definitely more substantial than a shrimp. Not as spicy as I would have liked (roll did not come with a sauce on it), but the overall flavor was still outstanding. Similar size to the TB roll, but only 6 pieces. My waitress was busy (she got seated with some needy family tables), but others checked in on me too, with everyone keeping my water filled, and answering any questions I had about the sushi they took to their tables.
