I stopped by Eddie's hoping they had any kind of soup even a stew or Chili bowl, but they were closed, but I eyed the business next to them, a sushi place and found they had an outside menu with noodle soup and my favorite.. RAMEN! Best of all, they were open. Me and my co-worker got seated quickly and the menu was literally huge, with loads of food to choose. I chose Ramen with chicken and ordered an appetizer of 4 egg rolls. My co-worker ordered Dynamite Sushi. They brought us some ginger and wasabi, I can tell you first bite and it opens your senses quick. My co-worker got his Sushi in about 10 minutes and 5 minutes later we got the egg rolls, then maybe 15 minutes later I got my soup. The wait was worthy, my soup was hot and tasty, the environment was nice to look at and the customer service was great, of course with my co-worker I joked about the wait but again the tasty food, service, environment with me feeling healthy and happy made it a great experience. read more

I've been here a few times since I moved here two years ago, and after multiple visits, I think I can write a fair review. This seems like the go-to sushi place for a lot of people on the military base. When I first started going here before the pandemic, I never thought the rolls were that great. They were never rolled tightly. The priority seemed to be making the rolls as big as you can instead of focusing on the basics. Flash forward to November 2021, I think the rolls are a lot better. One of my favorite rolls is the baked salmon. Other reviews (please keep in mind that most of these are older reviews. I have not gotten them recently): -Beef Brisket Pho: great! Would come back and get this again. Especially during the winter. -Beef Bulgogi: I got this on Sep. 10, 2021, to-go, and it wasn't good. It was a bit dry. It also took forever because it was dinner time. -Gyoza: decent--I've had better, but it's not bad. -Chicken Katsu: terrible. very dry. -Tamago sushi: ehh, not the greatest -salmon and tuna sushi: seems fresh. -Dessert, Macaron ice cream: YUMMY -baked lobster roll: I got this to-go, and it wasn't good. Finally had enough of cooking! Right Brain offered a take away meal. NO CONTEST! So, since we like this place and missed it we ordered through Door Dash. I have not yet had a bad experience with sake, The food at this establishment is always above and beyond for me. The beef bulgogi is out of this world! It is served on a hot plate that comes out sizzling. The sushi is really fresh which is a must when dining out for sushi. And the pricing is really good for what you receive. The staff is always super polite and eager to take care of your needs. For instance I was having trouble using chopsticks and my waitress asked if I would like chopstick trainers which is a small tool to help you learn how to use them. All in all the food is always a delicious treat whether it be after a long work week or any day of the week for that matter. read more

Just left a few minutes ago and now eating at the competition's joint, Sushi Teri. I signed in on the waiting list and Tablet Yelp app stated 21-36 minutes. No biggie, I will just kick it in the car, listen to my podcasts and stroll back inside in 15min. I return and see that the ladies who I let in the door before me are sat, so I figured I would be up soon. Didn't happen - even after letting the girl at desk I registered on the tablet at front of restaurant. While still waiting patiently, a large group without a rez walked in off the street and were sat immediately. The overworked servers / hostesses never looked my way. In fact, a couple went to the front desk to pay their bill because they were waiting so long. They told the girl at the desk no one had stopped by their table in a while. I checked in at 7:48pm and walked out the door at 8:30pm. What's disappointing is that I come up to Lompoc for work on a regular basis and make it a point to go there at least once during the week. I really was a big fan of the food and previously great service. The food at the other joint is that good that I might not return to Sake the next time I am up. So my advice to potential diners, make sure the place is not crowded before you decide to eat there. I get that places have off days once in a while, and I tried to give them a chance to get it sorted out. But got the cold shoulder and look away one too many times.... I hope the owners and management take the time to read this post. I will be returning to Lompoc many times over the next few years and would like to enjoy their food again. read more

Came here for my mom's birthday lunch while we're in town visiting family that just moved here. This place is very clean and appealing! I've never been to a place that serves Japanese, Korean, AND Vietnamese cuisine.... We were not disappointed!!! Literally the biggest bowl of pho I've ever seen for the best price. Started off with Shrimp fried rice which I have never seen basic white rice color in a fried rice dish it's usually yellow-brown color but was about 1 cup cooked White rice with 6 shrimp placed on top (sad) and a disgusting overpowering fish sauce. Baked Salmon Rolls and Baked Lobster Rolls are covered in mozzarella cheese like a pizza and it's one of the worst combinations you will ever eat on a roll. Why? Just why? Service was definitely a ZERO, they never came for drink refills but stopped by table twice to leave bill and collect payment but never to ask for a refill. We have eaten sushi in Bakersfield and Ridgecrest Ca also Carson City Nevada and those are places you expect to disappoint and they never have but in Lompoc Ca 10 min away from the beach I expected so much more out of you and now have witnessed a zero star dining experience. Don't be fooled by the 3 star review, I've been back here more times than I can count during COVID. The ambience is great, the servers are polite, the entire aesthetic is amazing, and I'd love to come back to dine in post-COVID, when AYCE is back. That being said, the one thing pulling my review down is the KBBQ. The sushi was delicious, and good price for the value. The KBBQ was overly saturated with oil, and not up to par with the rest of the food. Remove the KBBQ, focus even more into the sushi, and my review would go way up. read more

I don't care, I always order the same thing and it's always wonderful... It's sushi... The reason for the four stars is cleanliness. The tables and booths seem to be clean, but other surfaces in the dining area, and definitely in the bathrooms need more attention. Guys know what I'm talking about. Standing at a urinal in a restaurant that serves great, not cheap or fast food, should not be like a urinal at a gas station or fast food on I-5. I'll stop there. We mentioned this to the waitress who seemed to be concerned and thankful for the input, so I'd like to see if things change in the near future and hopefully update to 5 stars. This used to be our favorite place to eat in Lompoc. Recently, in the past couple of months, the quality and kitchen safety has gone way down. 2 weeks ago I ordered a salmon skin salad which used to be my favorite thing here. They delivered a sashimi salad took it back to the kitchen to bring the right order. When they brought my (cooked) salmon skin salad back there were still bits of raw fish left on the salad. All the kitchen did was take the raw fish off the salad and put the hot cooked salmon skin on top. It was gross. When they finally brought a fresh salad, the salmon skin was limp, soggy, and slimy. It is suppose to by crispy but I'm sure they just put the original salmon skin on another salad again and it had gone cold and soggy. Tonight I came in and ordered two veggie rolls. I was looking forward to eating them until I pulled a black hair out of my pickled ginger. I told them and they took it away and there was no apology or mention of it. This place is gross. So sad to see it in decline. They also don't filter their water so my green tea tasted of tap water and soap. I don't know where the soap taste came from and I don't want to know. Overall great place to eat for a casual lunch or dinner. The restaurant is in an easy to access location in Lompoc. The dining facility is very clean and modern. They have easy read menus and a great selection of items along with several lunch specials. The service was nice both times I went in and the rolls had great taste. They offer 15 percent off for military which is generous in a military town. They even have a roll named after the base which I thought was a nice tribute to the local community. Sake Sushi used to be my family's weekly budget sushi place, we could get 3 people fed generously for roughly $62 + tip & were almost always satisfied. HOWEVER it has REALLY gone down hill in the past year. Not only is the quality of food and service lower than when we first started coming here, but the prices have become utterly ridiculous since their recent menu update. Why is a roll that was previously $12 now $16? Why is a roll that was previously $4 now $7? Why is the angus roll that used to be $6 literally $12 now?! That is DOUBLE the price. Everything has been raised 20-50%. An order I got 3 months ago for $62 is now $98, not counting the tip. I understand a gradual increase in prices, but not 20-50% price increases overnight. In addition to the horrendous pricing, they get at least one thing in our order wrong literally every time we go now. We ordered and pay for a cut roll, they give us a hand roll. We order a roll that says it has spicy tuna on top, it comes with some sort of white fish. We order 6 rolls, we only receive 5 of them. Not to mention they are all falling apart because someone doesn't know how to properly roll. Bottom line is, the quality and pricing has made it so my family will no longer be eating here after 3.5 years of dedicated patronage. There are places that cost the same or LESS yet give way better quality, and that's where we will be going. read more
