My husband ordered the sukiyaki beef dish and felt sick shortly after trying it. The beef tasted off, as though it had spoiled, and should not have been served. We called the restaurant to inform them and the manager was dismissive and argumentative. We were told no one else had complained about this particular dish and were asked to bring the food back for inspection. They refused to give us a refund or discount. I've been a loyal customer of Sake for years, even sticking by them through their infamous New Year's Eve police raid during COVID. But after tonight's appalling experience, I'm done. We had 3 people in our party for hibachi but they wouldn't let us do regular hibachi and said we could order hibachi at restaurant (hibachi was empty). The food was an absolute disgrace to hibachi. It was nothing like the fresh, sizzling, experience we expected, nothing remotely close to the hibachi we've had here before. It was clear they slapped together some subpar ingredients and called it "hibachi" to appease us. When I raised my concerns with the manager, it only got worse. He had zero people skills, no empathy, and couldn't communicate effectively. His dismissive response? "We use the same sauces, and next time you should do regular hibachi." Excuse me? That's no apology or solution--it's an insult to loyal customers who've supported this place through thick and thin. This was a slap in the face. The refusal to provide the full hibachi experience for a party of three, the abysmal food quality, and the manager's rude, unprofessional attitude have ensured we'll never return. On a Wednesday (place was not busy) at 6:10 I placed an order for pickup and I went to get my food at 6:40. They only completed half of my order and said "the second page didn't print". I had to wait for 20 more minutes to get the rest of my food. I expressed my concerns to the manager about how the other food sitting will get cold. He did not care in anyway and told me to just wait and he will make the food come out quick. My food was cold and tasted horribly. After a lousy experience I gave this place another chance. We had a party of 16 and requested experienced chefs. The chef for my table was ok but copped an attitude when we asked for light sauce and ignored our request and loaded the food with soy/teriyaki. The other chef undercooked the meat (chicken was pink) and burnt my nephew hand when he threw the salmon on his plate. Hot pot isn't actually a hot pot. They cook it in the kitchen and serve it pre cooked vs you making it yourself at the table. Staff looked at me like I had two heads when I asked if it was table side. Ambiance is nice. Good music and decor. Miso soup was very good. read more

Food is always fresh and delicious. Honestly some of the best fried rice if not theee best. Only issue I have with them is once the chef is done doing the hibachi thing they push you out. We dined on a selection of standard-fare maki rolls at Sake, California roll and the like, and none of the chef's specialty rolls. While the meal certainly didn't knock my socks off, it was fine and the service was good. My litmus test for sushi is did the soy and wasabi need to carry the roll and I would say that mostly the answer was yes but the rolls were a decent wasabi delivery system. The roll with eel sauce was the most flavorful and the shrimp and avocado roll was good too. I will return and sample some of the specialty rolls on my next visit and update my review. This is the kind of place that makes me want to petition yelp for half stars, a solid 3.5 for now. The tab was a bit steep for the experience but I am willing to give it another shot. read more

A fun hibachi experience. We went on a Friday night with no reservations. We were able to get seats at the hibachi grill pretty soon. The entertainment aspect of the grill was fun. Definitely a place for a party. We sat with another group and it was still entertaining with the chef and cooking. Food was good. Not the best but not bad. They start with a salad which was nothing special. Miso soup was simple but good. Then they bring out the ingredients and start with the fried rice. It's decent. Not the best and not the worst. I would have preferred a bit more flavor and maybe more onion or garlic. Then noodles. Same for flavor. Then the protein. And vegetables. My main issue is the veggies would have gone better with the noodles and it would have been nice to have the rice with the protein. In other words the pacing was slow and it would have been better for me if more was combined together. read more

If you like fried rice and yum yum sauce with your hibachi experience DON'T come here. You literally get 1 measuring cup size of rice and 1oz of yum yum sauce. For hibachi, it's basic, and not as good as others nearby. The ambiance is just OK, and the manager's attitude is unpleasant. So, why 4 stars? The sushi quality and the servers are stellar, especially for a suburban strip mall joint. In 50+ visits, I've never had a bad piece of sushi here. The creative maki are tasty and well composed (Blue Ocean and Red Sox are favorites of ours). There's nothing fancy about the sashimi selection, but the fish is good quality and sliced well. The seafood soup is a lovely, light comfort on a cold day, with plenty of protein. The servers are friendly and attentive. I order gluten-free; they are knowledgeable and flag any potential menu concerns. There can be a backlog at the bar due to light staffing, but the cocktails are worth waiting for. read more

Quality of fried rice needs no frozen vegetables and using fresh shrimp should be a must. Our tempora was so bland it had to be dredged in a sauce..by then you don't know what you're eating, soggy vegetables so soggy they weren't distinguishable. This is a wonderful Japanese restaurant featuring both hibachi (cooking show) and a la carte options. I love their squid appetizer (a whole squid, lightly grilled). The sea bass in XO sauce is a must try. I'd return to this restaurant (despite its distance to Boston) just for this dish. They have many colorful and tasty desserts. I've been going here for years with my family. Today was my last visit! Manager totally unprofessional and sushi subpar. My daughter choked on sushi because the seaweed was dried out and wouldn't break down. I tried a piece same thing happened to me. She ate none of it ( spit up piece) manager said no refunds and that he doesn't do samples!! I was floored. He said there was nothing wrong with the food. We tried to go to this hibachi as we were in the area and hibachi is one of our favorite experiences. Once we mentioned food allergies we were told that our food would have to come from the kitchen, they couldn't handle them at the hibachi. This is a first for us. I asked if they had Serve Safe Allergen training and I was told they want to keep costs down so no. They have not been properly trained to handle allergens. This can literally be LIFE & DEATH, but money is more important. Utterly terrible management. I ordered two sushi rolls and an appetizer. When the tuna avocado roll came out, I immediately noticed that the tuna was gray, meaning it has spoiled and is probably not safe to eat. I got the attention of the waitress to ask if they could remake the roll with fresh fish. She then brought it to the manager who came over to talk to me directly. I explained that I thought the fish had spoiled and I simply asked for a different roll. He tried to tell me that some tuna is gray and that no customers have ever had a problem with it, so I was clearly wrong. After a small dispute over payment, he told me never to come back to the restaurant. I hadn't even touched any of the food yet. Needless to say, I wouldn't have gone back anyways. read more

The sashimi salad comes with a generous amount of sashimi. I like eating the sashimi with wasabi and soy sauce, like I would a assorted sashimi dish. The fried oysters were crispy with a nice juicy inside. Sake was a very fun experience with the hibachi grill, a great selection of sake, and the various dishes they offer. Food was good and the hibachi chef was characteristic and fun, however, the wait staff was awful and I do not recommend this place. There's better hibachi with nicer staff all over. For the record I never leave bad reviews but this experience I need to vent about and honestly I hope my waitress sees it. My friends and I made reservations for 10, when doing so my friend asked if they could handle a sesame allergy and they said yes no problem I could order anything and they could make it in the kitchen if it was going to be contaminated. When we got there and I informed her of my sesame allergy she immediately tells me I cannot have hibachi and informs our table if at least half the table doesn't get hibachi then we can't sit at a hibachi table. It was immediately hostile with her but we just told her no problem I would get sushi cause of my allergy and 7 of the 10 people with us were getting hibachi. This was established immediately. Then soup and salads come out and they were great, except I took one bite and the dressing is sesame. Not wanting to make a big deal out of a honest mistake I didn't say anything and my boyfriend left to get me Benadryl. I only had a bite so I was fine but was uncomfortable for the rest of the night because of it, but the lack of allergen awareness isn't why I'm complaining. It took them over half an hour to get our drink orders correct and out to us. One of my friends was going to get fried chicken and rice he ended up with just rice because while ordering the waitress cut him off by saying "no hibachi?" And just moved on when he said no, this place has way more than hibachi. He couldn't get her attention back to order the rest of his meal and when she did eventually come back over and my friend asked "can we put in another order" she had an attitude and said "why for what" at which point my friend decided he didn't want anything he was over it. We had a second waitress who was very nice. Then a third who was asking how we were paying before we even finished. The staff was clearly talking about us cause they were standing around sending us looks and I honestly don't understand what we did to them, other than ask to finish ordering which my friend didn't even get to do. We were going to get dessert but they just brought the check over, and we were fed up paid and left. Entire experience was bizarre beginning to end so can't say I recommend. Also their decor is ugly they have huge blown up photos of food cooking like it's a McDonald's. Thats my peace now I can never think of this place again. read more

Ordered a tuna roll and a salmon roll for appetizer. The seaweed wrap was rubbery and chewy, the rice was dry, the fish was tasteless. We could not tell the difference between the tuna and the salmon, flavor wise. I had the shrimp hibachi, no side sauces served with it, had to ask. I had to pull out the tough woodsy asparagus stems as they were so woodsy. There were no asparagus tops at all. The zucchini was flavorless and mushy. My meal was placed in front of me 10 minutes before my husband got his. It sat getting cold as I waited for him to get his. He ordered the Katsu Don chicken which he thought was good. I like the pork gyoza, Bento box (lunch - you get a lot of food for ~$11), spicy tuna roll (the consistency of the tuna is really great here - anyplace else and I have a real texture issue! Came in for dinner. Sat on the non-hibachi side to get a table for four. Hibachi side crowded and eventually the non-H side filled up as well. Tables are best suited for two, with four its pretty crowded when you have appetizers, drinks and entrees on your table. We had two kids and two adults - four adults would have been a bit miserable. Kids ordered chicken wings - 4-5, which were kind of pathetic in size. Tasted good, deep fried, but a bit anorexic in size. Son and daughter split pad thai and an order of california rolls. Pad thai was lacking in flavor and color - little bland looking. Diced peanuts, bean sprouts on the side, but still lacked flavor. California rolls typical. Wife had a Shrimp Udon Hot Pot. When we think Hot Pot, we think bowl of steaming "hot" soup - soup was very warm, but far from steaming hot pot. Noodles were good, ingredients okay. I had a Chicken Yaki Udon - "fried" noodles in gravy with chicken - tasted good, better than the Udon Soup or the Pad Thai.. Split with my starving son. Meals came with three salads and two soups. Not certain which meal came with which, but we shared. Overall, a fine dinner in Mansfield. Place was busy, service was fine. No leftovers and typical price - $$ for four. read more

I was disappointed with these. I didn't not like the dough and the filling was lacking and wet... The hibachi dinners come with miso soup and salad. Both were good. I loved the dressing for the salad. I ordered the steak hibachi. Then hibachi show was good and your typical show. You get noodles, rice and veggies with your meal. All in all a good experience.
