I always prefer raw sushi and had the tuna and spicy tuna. It reminded me of what I've had at Edo in Madison: pretty good, but not to die for. . One of my colleagues suggested to stop at sake House. I always like to try a new restaurant so we went. I had a sashimi deluxe which I have quite often at different places. This one was very nice I love the cuts of meat and they were very fresh and well-placed looked very nice. We had already passed Beaver Dam heading up to northern Wisconsin, but when I used Yelp to find restaurants near me, this restaurant appeared. It sounded so good, especially because it was mid-afternoon and the reviews said that even at that time of day the food was good. We turned around and drove back. This is by far my favorite sushi place. I have become a regular since eating here. I work in town and will get some to go for dinner quite often. My favorite is the bamboo roll with soy paper (don't like seaweed wrap) with a side of eel sauce. Ever since I noticed Sake House's sign go up over their restaurant location, I have been eagerly awaiting their opening. I love Japanese food and have been so excited to have a Japanese restaurant in the area. I definitely did not get my hopes up for nothing. First off, the interior is beautiful, more so than I expected - they're located in the little strip mall near Piggly Wiggly/Shopko, which doesn't exactly scream elegance, but elegant it was. I was a little surprised by the lack of hibachi tables, though. I love the experience of hibachi dining, so I was a little disappointed at first, but the quality of the food and service more than made up for it. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and helpful when we had questions. And the food...the food was absolutely amazing. Everything had incredible flavor, was so fresh, and it even looked beautiful. At our table we went with a variety of dishes, from hibachi to the bento box to some of their sushi rolls. We all agreed that everything was absolutely delicious. And so were the prices! Very reasonable for Japanese, and downright inexpensive compared to other Japanese restaurants we've been to. If you're in the area and love Japanese/hibachi or have ever wanted to try it, you need to go to Sake House. I personally cannot wait to go back! read more

I absolutely love Sake House. Amazing hibachi options and the sushi is wonderful. My favorite special rolls are the Golden Age, the Bamboo Roll, and the Rainbow Roll. I live in Milwaukee now and have many more sushi options around me, but I still always crave the food at Sake House above the rest! Probably the best restaurant in Beaver Dam (although unfortunately that isn't saying much). But Sake House is really very good. Our first visit was on a Friday night shortly after they opened and it was pretty busy with a good 30 minute wait, but TOTALLY worth it! I had the sunshine roll and a spicy tuna roll. Soooo good! My husband had steak and chicken hibachi which was also excellent. Make sure you get a bottle of their ginger sauce. So good I almost snuck it out in my purse. The one area for improvement would be to have a bartender so you can get a drink while you wait for your table, but I think they are still a bit short on staff being so new, so I can understand why they couldn't spare a set of hands on such a busy night. I hope they can make a go of it. I will DEFINITELY be back! And I have. Food is still great. We usually get take out and the times we've eaten in haven't been as busy as our first visit so the bar area problem hasn't been an issue since we get seated pretty quickly. I've been a fan since they opened more than 7 years ago. The sushi is outstanding--and I've had sushi on 3 continents and more than 20 cities in the US. From coast to coast, this location nicely rooted in my modest home town of Beaver Dam knows how to do sushi. The wine selection could improve, but the sake selection is better than most Midwest sushi houses. If you're passing through, I highly recommend it. If you don't like sushi, the Habachi grill is top-notch. The Chinese entries are par for the course IMHO, but I never order Chinese in-house (take out only for me). Why not order sushi? I've dined her at least 150 times in the last few years and will keep coming back for as long as they will have me. read more

Personally the only place in the area I will eat sushi from, authentic food choices. The gyozas are delicious and i highly recommend the crab ragoons. Love their noodle dishes and beef with broccoli. On occasion food is served on the luke warm side. Service can be hit or miss, one issue I do have is 9 out of 10 times our appetizers come at the same time as the meal. Proportions and price are fair, if u order to go for pick up make sure u check ur order before u leave they often forget sauces. read more

I will start by saying, walking in, the place is beautiful. And clean. I came here with my husband, 3 year old, and 7 month old. My husband isn't really a sushi person but he saw that there were other options on the menu. I will say the sushi wasn't the freshest sushi I have every had but it was still good and as others have said, absolutely not fishy smell. The miso soup was as described by others, nothing incredible. The service was top notch. Very friendly and attentive waitress. All in all, I'd say it's a place to go if your craving sushi and as others have mentioned...the bento boxes are a great deal. Would love to go here again :) read more

When sake house opened, I had sincere doubts that it would have good food or survive a full year. I was wrong on both counts. They have really good food, a nice clean and trendy atmosphere and have flourished for many years. Really good sushi in little ol Beaver Dam. Couldn't resist the chance to give this place another try since we were in Beaver Dam for lunch on Wednesday. This time my husband tried the Chicken Teriyaki Bento and I had the steak and shrimp hibachi. Both were terrific! Alex waited on us this time - boy, does that young man have great customer service skills!! Alex was very attentive and the service was flawless. I did not even have to ask to have my water glass refilled. The food came hot to the table and for the price was more than satisfying. I especially liked the vegetables that accompanied the steak and shrimp hibachi- delicious and the sauce was perfect. Once again my husband said the rice with the Bento was some of the best ever, and he loved the variety that came with his lunch choice. this will definitely be a go-to spot for us in Beaver Dam from now on read more
