Dear Saint John's United Methodist Church:
Remember me?
Sure, you may only see me and my wife at Christmas and Easter. But you see my mom-in-law every week. Even though she moved way south, she still comes all the way back to Allandale to see you.
And it's pretty easy to see why.
Even though we're only occasional visitors, we always feel welcome and included. You put the "commun" in "Communion", by inviting EVERYONE, and not excluding anyone that wants to share, unlike what I was used to growing up. And, you shocked us both by now having a gluten-free option for those with Celiac allergies, instead of the usual "breaking of bread". Maybe that's standard these days, but, we're pleased that you made the effort to care.
I love the decor of the sanctuary (posted a pic). The wood-covered ceiling is warm and inviting. The 'jumbotron' in front helps us follow along with prayers and songs when we don't want to use the handouts or books. Your choirs, and bell ringers provide varied ways to give praise. And you're right across 2222 from that cute little gift shop in the HEB shopping center that was conveniently still open after Christmas Eve services.
You're fine by me, Saint John's United Methodist Church. See you in a few months! read more
