We wanted to get more involved so we went a small group in Cedar Park for a while. I also worked with a young fellow who attended the church. Then we interacted with members on Facebook . The common thread is that they HATE. Not brown people , not poor people but Republicans. I don't remember any of them calling attention to Jesus . No room for anyone of different viewpoints. It's an "us" versus "them" hotbed. . So much for "no perfect people ... emphasis on the word ALLOWED since they no doubt run everyone else off. One of their "members" Nancy even said on FB that NO Christian SHOULD honor Charlie Kirk. I'm sure it's a wonderful place if you believe there should be only one political party in the US. .... Something about the culture there since it's the common denominator , Right ? If it's a root level ground swell of members so be it ... but if it's a top down thing : James 3:1-12 Amplified Bible (AMP) Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity], my brothers and sisters, for you know that we [who are teachers] will be judged by a higher standard [because we have assumed greater accountability and more condemnation if we teach incorrectly].

But during the service, something felt off. The pastor kept pushing the idea of "planting a seed," and he tied it almost entirely to giving money to the church. He didn't acknowledge that planting seeds in Scripture can also mean serving, loving others, or growing spiritually. The message made it feel like if you weren't giving financially, you weren't planting seeds at all. At one point an older woman gave over $2,000, and instead of feeling inspiring, it felt like the pastor was emotionally pressuring the room. The whole moment had an almost staged quality, like he was trying to create dramatic emotion rather than letting anything genuine happen on its own. The atmosphere reminded me of those scenes in movies where the preacher is overly theatrical and everything feels a little too rehearsed. I still appreciate the kindness of the congregation and the sincerity of the man who baptized me, but the sermon itself didn't feel aligned with the gospel or with authentic faith.

I love how he stands by the entrance both at the beginning and at the end of the service, making time for people in such a personal way. Today after 12:15pm service, my father and I were waiting to greet him. I dreamed about him last night, so it felt important to at least shake his hand, introduce him to my dad who is visiting from out of country. Pastor Brad was in conversation with someone else, and because of his kindness and desire not to be rude, he continued to give them his full attention. My dad grew a little impatient, and we were about to leave, but just as we were walking away, Pastor Brad noticed us and called out with such warmth: "Hey!" He greeted us so genuinely, as though he had been aware of us the whole time. That moment carried such light, humility, & thoughtfulness- it reminded me of how Jesus notices people, even in the smallest details. It may seem simple, but it meant a lot to me and my father. Pastor Brad's example is a true reflection of Christ's heart. The worship here is my fav. It's powerful, uplifting, Spirit-filled. I've also been deeply blessed by the Freedom Group. Although I haven't quite found close community yet, I still love attending service because of the worship, the Word, and Pastor Brad's Christ-centered leadership. Such a great welcoming team and praise God for the parking team.

However, we did not feel the sense of community and truth we were looking for. We then found Austin Ridge Bible church. From the first sermon we were very pleased about what we saw and heard. Brad and his team put a lot of effort into every detail of the sermons, the themes, the programs, and everything in between. Personally, I crave the sermons here. I did not grow up in the church, so I still have a lot to learn about the bible, and that is exactly what they teach. Every theme, life lesson, philosophy and idea is based upon teachings from the bible and nothing else. They are committed to staying focused on this notion. BEWARE OF "CHURCHES" THAT DO NOT USE OR READ OUT OF THE BIBLE. Furthermore, this church does a lot for people in and outside the community. They even help people internationally. This church's main focus is not about making people feel good... rather, its an active group of people that are devoted to becoming closer to Jesus through the truth of the bible. They are about action in getting out into the world and making a first-hand difference. Nothing is sugar-coated here. This results in a life-changing experience that actually helps people grow in a real way. In summary, Austin Ridge Bible Church has had a huge impact on my life and spiritual growth. I recommend that anyone who is searching for more meaning to life or for the next step in their walk with God start here. If Yelp had an infinite star choice I'd select it!

The vision is clear and biblically aligned with the Great Commission. It is written everywhere, spoken about consistently, and lives in the hearts of the people. The pastor has built an incredible team of staff and volunteers who carry the mission forward in a way that is not dependent upon him. The name of Jesus is magnified and there is excellence in everything that is done no matter how big or small. The presence of the Holy Spirit is evident and powerful every service. If you are looking for a church home, do not skip over City Reach without carving out time for a visit.

Thankfully, a good friend of ours recommended City Reach; and after checking out the church over a couple of Sundays, we made our choice. We enjoyed and continue to be delighted by the friendliness of the church member community here. The parking team does a wonderful job each Sunday to make sure we find a parking spot, and they have a shuttle that brings us to the entrance. Drip coffee and hot tea are provided if you'd like to enjoy a hot beverage while worshipping and listening to the sermon. The worship teams are truly in the spirit and sing in the name of Jesus. The worship sets are powerful and we can feel the Holy Spirit moving within us, and we see how others around us have been impacted as well. The pastor is unapologetic in preaching what is written in the Bible. He doesn't add fluff but stays true to the Word. His expository style is appreciated as he highlights the main ideas while calling out key points. They also have a children's program, from infants through high school. Their new campus is beautiful and has several parking lots to choose from. There is also overflow parking available with a shuttle provided. City Reach Church isn't charismatic nor is it traditional (we've been to both kinds in the past), it's actually fun and we look forward to going each Sunday! The style here is unique, though it's not necessarily for everyone. If you're curious to learn what a relationship with Jesus looks like, are new in your walk with Jesus, or if you're looking for a new church home, we highly recommend giving City Reach a try!
