I just feel this was inappropriate for the people who do not know the Bible. Very misleading. Please don't reply with some kind of excuse like I misunderstood. I did not. I heard what I heard. Just be careful in the words you choose to use. I wish I knew who it was who made this statement. Please do not respond to this review at all. I don't need apologies or explanations. I came again because 1. I LOVE THE BAND. It's like going to a concert, and I get hype. They have lyrics on the screen so it's easy to quickly learn the songs. The pastor is pretty dope, everything is pretty relatable, and you can find something that touches you even if you aren't religious. It's a cool church, which I don't think I'd have describle a church as "cool". But for real tho, when is the band dropping an album? I need that asap.

Father Malingumu gave a beautiful homily on gratitude to which the simple message resonates with many..there's many things we take for granted and we can do small tasks with great love to make a difference. The congregation itself is friendly and flipping through the bulletin there's plenty of things to be involved with and help the community.

Confessions are also offered regularly, which is a necessity for me. The interior of the Church is beautiful and the music is always lovely, and well practiced, traditional hymns. I especially enjoy listening to the reflective, contemplative song that the choir performs after everyone receives the Eucharist -- it's always beautiful.

Controlling and Communism at ASBC? I have attended ASBC for almost 30 years. There have been 4…read morepastors over that time. I have respected and trusted the former ones biblically. The current one has a style of leadership that has made me pause and wonder if it is a fit nor me now. Covid has affected every church, ASBC was one of the first to reopen in the area over 1 year ago, but with many restrictions. They have loosened up a little but still seem to have many state restrictions that have no medical or health benefits. Other changes was sneaked in and have disturbed me. It may be just me. 1. Bible study life groups are an important core of ASBC. It is a way to get to know a small group in a large group. When the pastor came about 6 years ago, he offered the option for the Life Groups to pick our own Bible Study Class info and books or use a study he chose. Option seems good. The pastor started a new about 2 year sermon study in Jan 2021. He now changed the Life Groups to be required to study only based on his sermon that week. He also provided the information to study that he wrote. No free choice in that anymore. (His indoctrination?) 2. Also tithing and Giving is very important to ASBC. In the past, You could tithe to any of the missions, pantry for the needy or regular church expenses you chose. I was unhappy to find out recently that the only option offered for donations is to the "Forward" program started about 2 years ago. (I didn't understand how that came about and my questions about that were ignored). I guess the pastor decides where your $ goes. That sounds a little too communism/ socialism than I prefer. I have decide to give the $ I would be giving to ASBC, to other Christian Organizations with common goals and beliefs. I like to be able to decide this for myself and not give that decision to others.

The Pastor is someone you can talk to and makes himself available no matter who you are and what you've been through, he's always a phone call away and mostly always picks up and ready to help at a moments notice. I can say this because I've known the man for more than 13 years, and he's as genuine today as he was when i first met him. When our family first visited the church I was a young and inexperienced Father and Husband with a bad track record. I was received with gracious open arms by the church members and the Pastor, even throughout the years as I've made mistakes at times I still received the same Love and Help as when i first visited the church. Like I said, you've gotta visit, but you've gotta see it yourself to Believe it. P.S. They've got really awesome Live drams and concerts every other Saturday which are fun for the whole family. Learning is play-based and student-centered - so important for this age group! The extra programs are such fun - like Mother Goose Day for the 3 year-olds and the annual Boo Bash - and parents are encouraged to participate in as many activities as they can throughout the year. This is a perfect place for your child and your family. But if sports TRULY matters to your child while attending high school, then, you may want to consider exploring different school where she can grow, develop, and be successful! Driving on campus for the first time I was in awe of the attention to detail that these folks are obviously serious about what they do, who they are and whom they represent. I was previously a member of a Christian organization for 35 years and with the prospect of relocating, we'll I was extremely apprehensive to say the least. But as the weeks went by, and we were so warmly received I couldn't believe we hit a grand slam the first time up to the plate. The Pastor and family are very gracious and humble, leading the congregation not prodding them, and that they have a school of over 200 students communicating to me they understood the importance teaching the children biblical principles, and with that came what was new to me, multi-generational depth of Christian experience and testimony. We were full members within 4 months and volunteer in different capacities throughout the week. Now having been with this organization for a little over a year we can attest the ONLY draw back to this church, is it's not visible from Virginia Beach Blvd. We'll see you there, Services Sunday 10:30 & 6:30.
