I was scheduled for ankle surgery on 15 June. From intake / reception to discharge I had a great experience. After in got in for the surgery, the nurses, doctors, everyone took care of me. My anesthesiologist did great and my orthopedic surgeon was great with my surgery. My experience from start to finish was wonderful and I am thankful for the dedicated and professional staff, nurses, and doctors that took care of me. My outpatient experience was exceptional and would highly recommend the hospital for care. read more

I was hospitalized from Sept 17th through 28th. I was treated very well by nurses that I saw. Upon discharge, I noticed my purse felt/looked abnormal. My sister asked me to leave it alone until I got home n checked futher. Getting home, awe hell naw, this can't be. PLEASE KNOW THIS 5TH FLOOR HAS A THIEF LURKING. An ER visit is daunting enough with dreadful anticipation of long waiting time and debating if it hurts "that bad". However Saint Francis ER is a fast well moving operation. I've recently visited twice in a two year period, once as a patient with chest pain and then a caregiver (abd pain). Each visit was fluid, in and out in 2 hours! The staff is efficient and friendly. There is alot of back and forth to the front desk which can be annoying when you're not feeling your best. The waiting area is clean no trash or food wrappers in sight. The restrooms are clean as well. Parking is good but being a female it can be frightful at night with no visible security. There is a security staff person just inside the ER but I hope at least cameras cover the parking area. Otherwise, Saint Francis Hospital ER is great for non life threatening issues. They are personable and really empathize when you are hurting instead of making you feel like just another face. And the followup is great too! read more

If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. I got to the ER last week Monday around 2pm. They did the triage stuff, hooked me up to an IV/painkiller that immediately induced a migraine when I stood up. It was so quick, I didn't initially know if I was about to pass out or if I was, indeed, getting a migraine. I got my CT scan and waited. Waited. And, waited. Just before 6pm, I was told I had an "uncomplicated" appendicitis and they were checking into getting me into a room and when surgery would be. It was getting really cold in the ER so, my husband asked if we could have a blanket or something. NOPE! They don't give out blankets in the ER. Not even with me waiting on a room. So, my husband left to go to a nearby store and buy me a blanket. Around 9pm, a nurse came to get me to say they had a room for me. He brought me up, stopped at the nurses' station, and the nurses there were pissed that I was brought up. Apparently, there was no bed in my room. So, they argued and threatened to report the person who sent me up, while I sat there in pain. They eventually found a bed, put it in the room, and brought me in there. My first nurse that night had absolutely no empathy whatsoever. I think she was probably still pissed I was brought up. After she hooked me up to the IV and gave me a pain killer, my pain skyrocketed. I was crying and writhing in extreme pain. This lasted through the entire night until I was taken for my surgery around 9am on Tuesday. I was begging for relief and all I received was, "I texted the doctor. We can't do anything unless and until he responds." I begged for another doctor, a hospital administrator, someone who could do something. NOPE! Only if this ONE doctor texts/calls back. I was then told that there would be a doctor making rounds the next morning. No specific timing or anything, just whenever s/he gets there. I was also told that is when they will decide if they are going to do surgery. IF! So, not only was I writhing in pain all night, I had to worry about whether or not I'd have the surgery. Fortunately, around 9am on Tuesday, I was taken for surgery (still, no doctor had come to see me this point). And, it's a good thing I did have the surgery because my "uncomplicated" appendicitis had turned into a very infected, leaking appendix (aka no longer uncomplicated). I will never recommend this location to anyone. It was a horrible experience. I've had doctor and lawyer friends who have stated that no one should have been treated this way. I already complained to the hospital and they called. I'm not sure what they were asking when they called but, they "forwarded my message." I never heard anything else. Just terrible experience all around. Never again will I go to this hospital unless it is the last option. read more

Most of the nurses and all of the other hospital ladies did a great job. They were responsive and cheerful. Dr. Shappley had done the prostate surgery, and l kept hoping that he would come by and answer my questions. His nurse came twice, but l wanted to ask him whether they found cancer and info about the painful "bladder spasms". l feel that he should have checked on me, since he personally did the surgery. read more

Don't ever schedule a colonoscopy or endoscopy there. They will leave you waiting all shift long already prepped while other non emergency cases pass you by. The people who answer arent helpful but I guess when you're lying to people who've starved and prepped, there no way to put a positive spin on it after making them wait hours later. For the hassle alone, it's better to go to one of the rural hospitals, they seem to have a better chance of you keeping your appt without malnutrition. read more

I was admitted here 12/04/2025 with chronic asthma attacks. Stayed overnight and had to advocate for myself my entire stay. Had to use call button every time to get albuterol nebulizers administered to me. Was not hooked up to any monitors, IV, etc for care the entire time. Morning of 12/05/2025 I called for a nebulizer at 6:17 AM while having an asthma attack and did not receive treatment until 7:05AM. As someone with chronic asthma this is completely unacceptable. I made them discharge me and immediately went to Germantown Methodist to receive treatment. I will NEVER trust this establishment with caring for my life. Hospital staff was extremely unhelpful and disregarded patient concerns. Nurse staff and doctors were often arguing about patient care. Miscommunication between staff prolonged treatment for my husband. ICU department didn't seem prepared or concerned about patient's wellbeing or comfort level. Hours between checks and if you need anything you will have to go seek out a nurse. No doctors in the ICU overnight, when asked about seeing a doctor I was told, one would be in at shift change (7 hours later). Doctors/nurses ignored current medication and denied him pain medication for his liver cancer even though he had been receiving pain medicine before being admitted. read more

what could improve is your communication with your staff that works in an emergency room. They're very rude under staff and are not helpful at all.. my mom ended up at your hospital again after five months and I did not want her to be taken there because of her last experience., once again, the Nursing home disregarded my choice of hospitals and since Saint Francis is the closest it's only supposed to be for emergency. Well, it only took a couple hours for her to get to Saint Francis so that can't be an emergency when she is right across the street at signature nursing home. going forward calling the main number to get to her room ., One person told me that my mom was gonna be in room 556. This was April. third 2026. No wonder no one answered the phone because she was not in that room. Someone says she was in room 650 the day she was leaving. I said why didn't someone say what room she was in and letting me think she was in one room. But this is not my major concern. A couple of the nurses were very helpful but the first nurse I encounter was Miss Tiffany and and she could not find my POA or file from the nursing home and had to get the supervisor to find it. She has no idea where to look.., going for my bomb head come in for lethargic, dehydration, low potassium. Her troponin numbers were high. Several days they did get her into a room, which is where I first talked to Tiffany and then I talked to Brandon and Brandon was very nice. He did not give me all the attitude that I got from Miss Tiffany. But what concern me was they released her and the nurse that I talked to that day I think her name was Shayna. I'm not really sure, I never got the correct name because nobody wants to tell you their name. But that can all be looked up for the time she was there and she was on the either the fifth floor or the sixth floor her name is Eleanor Brunetti my mom. I asked them did they do a urinalysis and they said they did and they felt that she was OK and all her numbers look good. I even asked twice about the urinalysis. Did everything look good and not normal .,I was concerned about her going home to the Nursing signature healthcare. Did not want to come back to this place that drops the ball twice.. now my mom came back for a couple days and she was still confused not going to the bathroom regular, nobody said anything about an assessment or medication. Turns out my mom my mom had a lingering UTI that no one picked up on until April 9. So how many days has my mom had a UTI probably about seven or longer?., now she has to have seven shots to get this under control. she would not have had to go under this strong anabiotic if somebody would have done their job. I know all about the labs and how long it takes to get information back. So I don't want to hear any excuse of why she did not get the results a lot sooner and you let her go home.. I honestly never want her to come back to your hospital not even in an emergency situation. You have shown me twice how you operate and you can make all the excuses you want, but I have seen it twice in five months.., now, if you'd like to reach out to me, I will be glad to discuss this whole matter with you and find out what really happened., Sandy Stevens I am sure they are good people that work at your hospital and doctors but not one doctor ever called me back one doctor did talk to my brother, but I specifically asked for them to call me since I was the power of attorney and no one ever did in four days. Okay. Like my heart team. Like my floor nurses. Wasn't happy with the multiple attempts to get a vein. Clean solo room. Bit worn, but still serviceable. A major thumbs down for the patient food trays served on the ward. Nasty smell. Nasty appearance. A hot style meal served cold. Not kidding...COLD! my daughter post surgery sent to icu for a week last year. exactly across nurses station where she could be observed. I cleaned her up myself. nurse was busy. after a day I looked at my socks and they were grayish black. I asked for a mop as there was poop and urine on floor and I would clean it up myself. no mop offered no one cleaned up I cleaned on my hands and knees with paper towels. Daughters I'v came out several times begged nurse to come. she wiggled needle around. a big no no! my daughter developed staff of course in the icu room!! night nurses very indifferent to everything. daughter slept on bare plastic mattress because I changed the sheets and couldn't find more so she was left with tubing from surgery to back pressed against plastic mattress. I will never forget that nightmare of hospital. I'm a retired nurse and tend to defend nurses for being over staffed but the cold indifference was too much. I saw a cleaning woman once in that week the day my daughter was leaving. never ever again! state run hospital would take better care and concern. I heard other families up and down hall say never again. hospital should be condemned and demolished . a open toilet within inches of hospital bed and a nasty sink just above toilet? I am so disappointed in this hospital- the location on Park. They are unorganized. My husband was discharged and given a prescription. They have not called the prescription in, Dr. Qureshi, and no one can find this man to get the prescription called in. I have never seen such foolishness in my life, not even when dealing with The Med. Emergency or not, we will not be returning and someone should come in and see what they are doing because it's a mess. read more

They still suck! Ended up there due to ambulance driver. I had a seizure & it was closest. Had to cancel ALL meals again as whatever they serve is nothing recognizable as food by site or taste. Gave them benefit of doubt & tasted it but my mouth automatically refused as inedible. Was in ICU where I was given excellent care by nursing staff. I did at least get my sheets changed 1x in 4 days. Housekeeping brought her nasty self in contaminating my personal items after I requested her to please leave it. She came in with gloves on & after touching the doorknob, curtains, & a chair proceeded to touch & contaminate food & beverages on my table. Nasty attitude because I don't want my stuff getting nasty. Dirty nasty person. Housekeeping never bothered to empty trash & only appeared 1x in 4 days. Nurses had emptied trash. It's really a shame you can't be alone there without feeling vulnerable & unsafe. I was never so relieved to be released! My animals eat & are better cared for than the mess housed on Park. Tenet drained every penny & ruined a decent hospital. Avoid, avoid, avoid. read more

Improper medical checks (treating patients based on the opinions of next kin or personal-work morale), limited patient care/opinions, and unsanitized rooms-poor bed dressing Failure to inform the patient before invading their body and misrepresenting patient communication Unfairly financially penalizing patients for doctor's and nurse's mishaps and excessive usage of medical machinery. Insisting on the patient being transferred due to morale. It is with deep sadness I am writing about this unfortunate situation. I was recently a patient twice - first in hospital same day surgery then after another surgery admitted to the 5 th floor. Each time I had excellent care. The nurses who handled pre op were caring snd professional. Shay was my post op nurse and made sure I was command had everything I needed to recover. The dietary assistant even made an extra trip to see if I wanted some tea as she had gotten me some the day before and wanted to see if I would like another cup. The customer service representative is a very sweet and nice lady. The lighting is good, the rehab equipment is always cleaned before and between each usage. The staff is professional and very caring. They make sure treatment is the best. Social distancing is always mandatory. Stay away from Dr. Aneeta Khanna in internal medicine... especially if you have ehlers danlos syndrome. She could kill you. She treated me for sepsis from a complicated uti and put me on an antibiotic that the FDA warns NOT to give to ehlers danlos patients because it can cause strokes and heart failure. I'm covered in bruises from the blood thinning effect of the medicine and I actually am feeling worse now than when I went. I'm experiencing mental health issues and issues with tendonitis now...all are serious side effects of a medicine I shouldn't have been given. She has zero bedside manner and to top it off she FORGOT to discharge me for an entire day. She actually showed up in my room and said the words, "What are you still doing here? I meant to send you home yesterday." I loved my nurses in the ER and my DAYTIME nurse when admitted to the 9th floor. The night time nurse had no idea how to treat an EDS patient and had an attitude when I was crying out in pain because of an improperly inserted IV. I will never forget her walking out of the room swishing her hips and glaring at me when I asked that the IV be stopped. She never came back in the room after that. In three days, I had FIVE veins blown by IVs. I also had to SPELL and explain ehlers danlos syndrome REPEATEDLY for staff. If I hadn't been released the day that I was released I was planning to go AMA and go to another hospital. What followed was seven days of feeling like I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, bruising for no reason, being unable to move my arms because of pain from blown veins, and finally finding out that my antibiotics were doing all of it to me because I shouldn't have been on them. Had another medical professional actually say the words, "You got lucky," when informed what medicine I was on. The antibiotic is so hardcore it is used to treat ANTHRAX. I also still am fighting the UTI I was admitted for. To top everything off, the hospital is FILTHY. Look at the photos. Seeking legal advice after my experience and will NEVER return to St. Francis. Oh, and if, like me, you go there because you are a Catholic and want to be around the spiritual advice/comfort of a hospital priest...go elsewhere. No priest but they do have all the Catholic imagery and chapel. That's offensive! read more

Stay away. They have the worst nurses that do not care about the patients. There's no customer service whatsoever. My husband had to stay overnight after a procedure and the nurses had the worst attitude like you were disturbing them. It started off with the hospital having the wrong appointment time for the procedure. The appointment nurse had an attitude. The nurses aid took his blood pressure and was supposed to give the nurse a message but the nurse claimed she never got it. However, the nurse showed up 4 hours later and acted unbothered saying she had other patients. He's on the cardiac floor and had to have his medication after his procedure. If it wasn't for us keeping up with his medication times he may not have gotten any. She didn't check on him all night. He had to call for assistance to the restroom and didn't even help. She came in removed a monitor so he can go and left right back out. Also, his leads to the EKG came off and no one came in to check on it. We don't know how long it had been off when it was noticed but the next morning they came right in when the lead came off. The nurses name is Rachel. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would!!!! I went here after work due to abdominal pains. I was barely walking and it actually hurts to walk, cough, sneeze, laugh or anything else that puts strain on the abdomen which includes bowel movement. I was here from 6:30 till 11:30 only to be told nothing was wrong with me. The only thing they did was draw blood and take an urine sample to run them in the lab. They came back stating that all of my results were negative and they found nothing to be wrong, gave me a prescription and sent me home. First of all, why would they write me a prescription not knowing the nature of my condition, for that matter, if NOTHING IS WRONG?!!! So, 3 days later after the pains had gotten worse, I decided to go to Baptist Memphis. The upside to all of this is, I did not fill the prescription and I'm glad I didn't!!! At Baptist I was diagnosed correctly and was told if I had taken the prescription given to me from St. Francis, it would have made matters a whole lot worse. The doctor that I was seen by was Dr.Dewight Cowley. MD. aka (Dr. Kevorkian). I feel like these people were trying to kill me. People please be mindful when a doctor tells you nothing's wrong and get a second opinion!!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE OR TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR LIFE!!!!!! read more

My husband is a patient at St. Francis on Park Avenue every since 12-28-2023, this got to be the worst hospital in Memphis. Everything that could happen has happened, of course very little staff, when my husband got into his room, he had to make his own bed, he was not given a welcome kit upon arrival, I took him the things he needed such as toothpaste, toothbrush, food, Vaseline, etc. After I complained today 12-31-2023 then everything start happening, bed got changed, garbage emptied, bathroom and shower sanitized, Welcome Kit. That is really sad that I had to complaint to get things going. My husband acting doctor came around to visit him yesterday 12-30-2023 and told him he had COVID and my husband replied i think you are mistaken, the doctor said he would go look again at blood work and get back to you he never came back until today 12-31-2023, we had to find out from the nurse he had the wrong room., that doctor should be fired or written up. The food at St. Francis is terrible not edible at all, I have been taking food to my husband, I mentioned to the nurse about the food and she replied you have to bring food to your husband or use tge vending machine, how sad, the hospital use to provide food. St. Francis has gone all the way down in their service to patients and that is not good, they always using the short of staff excuse, well in case you don't know that's when upper management steps in and help out. I feel like they need to reimburse me for bringing toiletries and food that is what they should be doing. Last St. Francis need to update their rooms they are very old, paint peeling on window seals, and baseboards are rotten, and rooms are too small. St. Francis shut down or get it together. I really want to give Big Zero rating. None of this is acceptable. read more

I had a total hysterectomy last Wednesday at St. Francis hospital. I had to go prior to my surgery for pre op and the nurse was wonderful. I arrived for my surgery and the process was very easy. The pre-op nurse Tom was quite funny and made me feel at ease. I was wheeled by Charles to the holding area of which I was was greeted kindly and my needs met. The anesthesia doctor was very caring and very concerned about my post op complication at my last surgery. I wasn't even nauseated post surgery thanks to the anesthesia doctor. Jennifer was my intra-operative nurse and she was very nice. Of course, I really don't remember much after arriving to the surgery suite. My post operative nurse was very caring. She made sure my pain was well controlled. I was taken to the surgical floor and mostly slept the rest of the day. My day shift nurse was so very nice. They changed shifts and my night shift nurse was very caring and funny as well (I think her name started with a K). A lovely occupational therapist Tina helped me walk to the vending machine. When the vending machine wasn't working she went to another floor and bought me a snack. My day shift nurse was wonderful as well. She took excellent care of me. I had the most unpleasant visit in the er by the Dr.I can't remember his name but he's light skin with a baldhead.He was so mean and seemed as if his job was the worst job in the world.I know people are stressed and overworked but the unpleasant approach with patients should not happen at all. read more

My son was circumcised here after birth and I regret it every day. My mother was in the room when they came and got him out I wish she would have waited till I came back, but his urine comes out side ways they clipped him uneven. If you are unsure about getting your son circumcised I would not do it. Don't do it, I regret it and I hate it I just hope this doesn't affect him when he grows older. read more
