I booked us the Deluxe Pampering Scalp and Facial treatment for 75 minutes, but after a thorough exam of both our heads under their digital scalp microscope, our specialists recommended the 90 minute Premium Special Treatment and Facial. I've known my scalp had its issues before coming here, like crazy dandruff, and a mix of oily and dry scalp issues from all my time in the sun and not knowing how to take care of my hair and scalp. I was surprised to see a lot of redness on parts of my scalp, too, so I was happy to pay a little extra to do the Premium Treatment. My bestie had dry scalp as her issue, and our specialists, Nina and Sue, recommended and went over different products for us, catered to our unique scalp issues. They take the time to explain what each product does, and why they chose this product for us, which I really appreciated! The Premium Special Treatment and Facial was 90 minutes of full bliss. My bestie and I were sooooo relaxed and happy afterwards, and nearly fell asleep during our treatment because it was just so good. Now I zoned out from most of my treatment, but from what they told me, this treatment comes with the aromatherapy massage, a scalp scrub to exfoliate along with shampooing and massaging, hair mask, hair steaming, neck and shoulder massage, and a deep facial cleanse, and it ends with a Dyson Airwrap blow dry and style! Wow! When they say this treatment helps relieve tension, boost blood circulation, and relieve headache stress, they mean it. My bestie was so relaxed afterwards, I could feel her drifting off to sleep hahaha! I was, too. She is a curly hair girlie and her specialist, Sue, even took the time to ask her how she usually dries her hair to maintain its beautiful curls and styled it to her liking with the Dyson diffuser. After the treatment, my hair felt so smooth, it looked visibly healthier, and my dryness and red spots were ultimately gone. I know it's not a one-time-fix-all treatment, so I even took some products home. I love my at-home care products with a passion and have been implementing to my daily hair and scalp treatment routine as I really want to get rid of my redness and dandruff issue! We plan to go back every quarter of the year (4x a year) as a traditional "treat ourselves" day now. Our next booking is already on the calendars because we just loved our experience so much! This 90 minute is equivalent to their $148 service. I am writing this as someone who has been to many headspa businesses in OC and LA and I usually get the 90 min services. When I arrived I circled the area once to see where the best spot was to park. They had street parking in front of the business but Las Tunas is main street, but I preferred to park on the small street nearby for safety reasons. I came a little early as instructed on ClassPass. They lady told me to sit but then she was distracted with other things. I'm like in that case can I use the restroom? Might as well be productive while I'm waiting for her. They have 1 station in front for the initial scalp exam, 2 head spa beds with curtains as separation, and 2 stations in the back for blow drying. So the 90 min Scalp Spa here comes with a few typos on their menu but it's basically a scalp exam, steam eye mask, scalp clean and relax, hair follicle deep clean, scalp care, hair hydration, hair repair, sleep therapy, nano hair care, light therapy, shoulder/neck tension relief. The thing I like most is the massage from the message bed they use with the treatment. It massages your back, arms, and legs throughout your head spa treatment. The lady was nice... but... rough... Often she would pull on strands of my hair and it would hurt. It might be the type of glove they use because the other head spas use gloves too but it never pulls my hair so painfully. Even with the massage it never hits the right spot. It was one of those treatments where you can't wait for it to be over. Also compared to other similar business types there was no enclosed steam mask and treatment for my hair, and the massage did not go down to the shoulder area. When the wash was over we moved to the chair for blowdrying. Ugh also clumsy with the blow dry. I have really long hair and at times she was just manually section it without clips and hold it up with the other hand and pulled on my hair some more. Sigh. What torture. Compared to similar businesses I did not get a post exam to see how much it improved after. There was no shoulder and neck massage on the chair. My hair was flat and felt ichy and oily. I don't know what she put in my hair but I'm not in a fan. I literally wanted to wash it off. Normally these treatments leave me feeling lush and full of volume, not flat like this. Also not great for any first timers. She didn't really explain anything throughout the process. There was a language barrier, which I don't mind, but you should know the basics for your profession. I liked the massage bed... she was nice... but I did not enjoy the service. There is another similar business a few blocks away that I prefer so I'll stick to Silk Pro Head Spa.

When we arrived, my friend and I filled out waiver forms that asked for our goals and preferred pressure. I wrote that my goals were a relaxing time and a clean scalp, and I selected medium pressure. After that, I was led to the washing station. I laid down and suddenly a mechanical body massager turned on, which I was not expecting at all. It was incredibly uncomfortable and actually painful. It applied extreme pressure to my legs and feet and dragged them side to side every 30 seconds. After about five minutes of this repetitive "massage," I asked the woman doing my service to stop it. She clearly didn't speak English and didn't fully understand me, so I pointed at my legs and said "no massage." I heard her click a button, so I assumed she stopped it. A minute later, it continued. I was annoyed that she ignored my request, but I decided to just deal with it because I didn't want to come off rude by asking again. Meanwhile, while my body was being tortured, my scalp was being scratched raw. Clearly, we have different definitions of "medium pressure" because I couldn't figure out which was worse, the body massage machine or the scalp wash. I have no idea if she was using her nails or some kind of tool, but all I could do was brace myself. I considered asking her to stop attacking my scalp and just wash my hair normally since I literally wrote that one of my goals was a "relaxing time," but given the language barrier, I knew it would probably be pointless. When it finally ended, I was taken to the blow-dry station. That was the only remotely relaxing part, but my scalp was so sore that I couldn't even enjoy it. Now, you might be thinking, "That's it, right?" Nope. When it was time to show the Groupon, I clarified that it covered both me and my friend since it's listed for two people/couples. Then we asked if we could tip with card. (I honestly didn't want to tip at all, but I figured, whatever, since I'll never be back.) They told us tips had to be through Venmo/Zelle. So we both tipped and turned to leave. But when we tried to walk out, the door was locked. I turned around and asked the lady at the front desk for help with the door. Instead of helping, she said something like, "Only one?" I assumed she meant the Groupon again, so I re-explained that it was for two people. She then clarified, "Tip... only one?" I was shocked. How unprofessional. What business double-checks if both people tipped? Tipping is optional. What if one of us didn't want to? Is that something we'd be forced to justify to her? I told her we both tipped. She said she received mine but not my friend's, so my friend had to pull out her phone, open her bank app, and show that $20 had been sent via Zelle. Again, how incredibly unprofessional. Maybe management should consider paying and training their employees better so they're not so desperate for tips. For context, the service isn't cheap. The Groupon was $140.

The treatment rooms are quiet, clean and have a nice ambience of dim lighting on the ceiling. They started with the mini facial with the steaming machine and started to work on my face. I am getting drowsy now because it feels so nice. Head massage, neck and shoulder massage, warm water on head and neck and that's all I remembered because by now, I am practically asleep. Before I know it, it's time to get up! Fastest 90 mins ever. Now I want the 2 hour treatment!!! We go to the mirror vanity table to finish off with the blow dry but not before serum was added to the scalp and some other things they do. Don't ask me what, because I was still waiting up from my nap. I was so sad it was over. Please tip generously because they are all hardworking and try to make it the best experience for you. They don't try to sell any products which I appreciate. I cannot wait to come back and bring a few more friends for a girls self-care day. Our appointment was originally at 3:00 PM, and when they told us it would be pushed to 3:30 PM, I agreed and waited, but at 3:30 they asked us to wait even longer. When I asked how much longer it would be, they admitted they have a current session thats 75 minutes long. That basically meant they gave away our original appointment slot to another customer and expected us to wait over an hour past our scheduled time and lied in the beginning by saying it was only getting pushed back by 30 minutes. I decided to cancel my appointment because i wasn't gonna wait longer. Completely disrespectful of customers' time, especially after driving so far. Very disappointing experience and poor scheduling/communication.
