Convenient location, easy to get into with a nice, large parking lot. Gas station and car wash within the same parking lot so much like a Kroger store in the U.S.
Large selection of each type of item of grocery as compared to the Tesco, which was a much smaller store, so perhaps not a fair comparison (Maybe 15,000 sq. feet versus 45K sq. feet). The selection was impressive. As an example, there were six different types of butter.
Because the store was so well stocked and well-designed we had very little interaction with the staff, but they all seemed congenial and helpful. As an example, my wife and I were desirous of getting a loaf of bread that had been baked in-store (British bread has very large slices, we wanted a smaller loaf) and the helpful employee offered to slice our loaf for us). It was an excellent and delicious loaf of bread.
Some home goods and clothing; we weren't shopping for clothing, but were able to pick up a heat-resistant spatula and small saute pan right away, since the store is designed in a convenient manner, and not in a manner so as to make you search. (Where we are from, the stores do demographic studies and then hide the staple items or put them in the farthest reaches of the store so you have to stay longer, which will increase your time in the store and thus, you spend more since you see items and make impulse buys.)
I have no clue as to the prices as compared to other places. We pretty much bought store-branded items, and they seemed reasonably priced but we are here on holiday and have very little context by which to judge price. read more
