I was surprised that for its size this sainsbury's lacked a lot of items that I was looking for.

An unexpectedly large Waitrose store in Canada Place of London's business district, Canary Wharf -…read moreit is over multiple floors and has much more than what one would expect from Waitrose including a home and clothes section - which one would associate more with Waitrose's sister brand, John Lewis. They did have a pretty large selection in most areas I looked at the store including with desserts, yoghurts (Pots and Co!), to-go food and fruit juices, the latter was actually quite reasonably priced for a freshly squeezed juice. The store did seem to have an annoying habit of making announcements regularly, it felt like I couldn't walk down an aisle without "DING DONG DING DONG", eventually I muttered to myself "Welcome to Waitrose Canary Wharf please note... announcement for..." etc, I get they do need to do this but so constantly is just really irritating. The café area could have been larger however but I was overall impressed with this store in a useful location for Canary Wharf's shopping centres and tube/DLR stations. 4*

How does this happen? The food quality is always good and competitive with Marks & Spencer. There's dining to the rear of the lower ground (behind the supermarket). The rotisserie and curry section is VERY popular and good value with office workers popping out at lunchtime. The seating gets really busy at this time too, so best to come early if you dont want to fight for a seat. There's also a yummy oyster bar to the right and a wine bar to the left (the selection is very good). Street level has something for the ladies: handbags, jewellery, shoes, lingerie (I've been pulled in all directions of this place). Then there's toys, travel goods and sportswear. Go up another level to find TV and electricals, furniture, bathroom accessories, soft furnishing, garden furniture, stationery and seasonal Christmas decorations. Oh boy, how do I know all this off by heart? I get all loved up when I shop at Waitrose...a bit sad, but true.

It's fine. You can get most things you need here, it's never too crowded, and the staff are nice…read more Since I've moved to the UK Tescos has become part of my weekly routine. Even though I vastly prefer M&S, Waitrose and boutique shops over Tescos, the local branch is closer than everything else so sometimes convenience wins out. Usually the determination on whether or not to go into Tescos is pretty simple: Am I getting a mass produced thing in a can or a box? Tescos is fine. Otherwise, head elsewhere. The produce and meat here is definitely inferior to the nicer stores so you'll want to skip that entirely. Sometimes I can't be bothered so I'll get some meal deal thing here but make no mistake the sandwiches and wraps are several orders of magnitude inferior to M&S so you're going to get what you pay for; if you actually exit a store with "Korean BBQ wrap with cheddar and bacon" then you get what you deserve! I should add that the service at this Tescos is way, way better than some of the smaller stores.

I hadn't been here in a while. Needed to get some items for lunch the next day so stopped in. Hey,…read moreHey...they restyled the place! Before it wasn't too appealing but now it looks pretty good! The layout and aisle organisation has improved and lots more in the way of fresh foods, lunch and bakery items. I had a little smile on my face until I got to the til. Still a confused mess. Loads more and added self serve but still a nightmare of people not moving along, having love affairs at the checkout or confusion as to which side they want to queue on. Get it together!

I spend most of my Asian grocery money either in Leicester Square or this tiny Taiwanese grocery…read moreshop at Poplar. I hate the commute to Leicester Square and the mindblowing crowd within every single grocery store there, and I hate the commute back even more, since i would end up carrying a ton of grocery from a couple of different supermarkets in hopes that I wont have to be back for a long long time. The Taiwanese grocery shop has a lot of basic staples, but it's expensive and lacks in fresh produce and meat. I knew that there was the option of going of going to SeeWoo in North Greenwhich, but I never had the willpower to figure out how bussing would work after getting out of the tube, but it was quite easy! The stop is Greenwich Penninsula and a couple of buses will take you there, and then it's a short walk from there. This is actually a warehouse that stores the shipments the organization gets from all over the world. You can still find the chinese watercress/morning glory still in their styrofoam cases. One side of the warehouse is dedicated to storage (that you can buy wholesale) and the other side is dedicated to retail. They don't sell fresh meat, but they sell a ton of fresh vegetables (I found this taiwanese vegetable (A菜) and pea pod leaves!) and fressh seafood (ginormous lobsters still alive in tanks), any type of frozen good you can imagine (a lot of taiwanese frozen goods too), all dry asian goods imaginable, and cooked deli foods like buns and dimsum dishes. It's asian heaven (for europe) and likely a one-stop shop for most of the asian stuff you might need. The best part is that it is nowhere near as crowded as the stores in Leicester Square (huge aisles) - and I had gone on a saturday afternoon. I don't know why I'm Yelping this because I would like to keep this place a secret just for me.

See Woo Greenwich…read more Went there this afternoon and found many of shelves empty as was a month ago. The same reason - refrigeration out of order caused by flooding considering the area is 33 ft above sea level. and had no incidence of flooding previously. Last year in the middle of the pandemic we were there 15 mins queueing up to go in only to find lots of empty shelves. This afternoon we bought a pack of beef flank weighing 1300 gms only to find 435 gms (almost a third of the weight) of thick fat hidden under the leaner meat - was this on purpose ?
