Had an AMAZING night sailing with Captain Paul and his Wife Melissa. They were punctual, friendly and so hospitable. The Odette was immaculate, Melissa made sure we had a great time. The Music was great, they made sure we were entertained and took us to all the sights we wanted to see. They positioned the boat so that we had spectacular views and great photo opportunities. They took us to the Statue of Liberty, up the East River, under the Brooklyn Bridge and made sure to point out view points for us to see. Overall we had 5 star service hands down. Captain Paul and his team made my birthday celebration one for the books!  Friendly service and always happy to help - before, during, and after the party.  I highly recommend them and the "Liberty" boat to anyone looking for a unique experience on the water.  They coordinated serving food and drinks to all my guests while pointing out the beautiful sites.  We easily connected our music playlist to the boat's sound system to listen to all my favorite songs.  I really loved the nautical-themed couches and decor because it enhanced my "cocktail hour" yacht party vibes.  The boat departed from Jersey City and navigated around Manhattan for a few hours.  On the first floor, there was plenty of seating indoors and outdoors (front and back of the boat) for my 30 guests.  The layout fostered easy movement around the boat and comfortable socialization.  The second floor had really great 360 views of the city, but it got pretty windy so I didn't spend as much time up there as I would've liked.  Everyone loves a nice boat party and is extremely happy to leave their kids at home for the night so don't think twice, just book them!  Life is a series of chapters and I'm so glad I got to spend my birthday on this boat with many of my best friends from all different chapters of my life.  I'm forever grateful to Captain Paul and his team.  Hope to see you again sometime!  Best wishes from my family to yours!! read more

Booking with Captain Dan was very easy. Great communication through out. I chartered Sound Waves their newest sail boat. I docked at the world trade for the extra docking fee which I believe was a lot easier. It's right behind Brookefield Place where there are amazing restaurants and shopping areas. You can pull right up to the dock after a cruise and right into a restaurant, deff recommend reservations. We ate at PJ Clarke's on The Hudson. The boat was beautiful and as described. Pictures were very accurate. We sailed over to the Statue of Liberty and under the Brooklyn bridge. Views were amazing. Captain Dan even let me sail the boat for a little while which was an amazing experience. Some pointers however, safety tips of any sort such as where the life vests are or what to do in an emergency or certain situation were never explained. One of my guests wore high heels and tried to get up on the bow and he yelled at her screaming "Yo Yo you got to get off" in not the nicest tone. I mean she didn't know because you never explained anything. Overall experience was good however and would recommend.(just ask safety questions prior to sail) read more

I should preface this review with 2 things: 1) I grew up sailing 2) it's something I do for fun every year on my birthday (or for special occasions) So although sailing yourself is fun, it's challenging to enjoy/entertain if not everyone knows how to sail, and more importantly if you truly want to sail more to entertain others than anything else. If that's what you're looking for, NYC sail is for you. Since I've been going to the same person/company to charter a boat for my birthday for the past 6/7 years, I decided to try something different. So I did my research, and contacted NYC sail. Captain Dan responded almost immediately (he's good about email turnaround within 24hrs and will answer the phone during normal business hours). He immediately gave me availability (by date, boat, and cost). One I selected the date/time, he sent me a confirmation via email with a link to make a refundable deposit (check the amount of time in advance where if you cancel it's refundable), but it's definitely refundable if the weather doesn't cooperate (so no worries there). Note: the rest has to be paid in CASH on the boat at the end of your sail. The boat is really nice/spacious and in excellent condition. Has a great and roomy clean cabin with prep space for snacks, and a table for eating (and a cooler for drinks you want to bring)! Also, there is a fully working bathroom on board, which is great. Further, there is a bamini (a cover for the back of the boat where you have plenty of room to seat 6), so you can seek shade during your sail. He gives you the option of using a motor (no sails up, and the motor propels you around), which stabilizes the boat more (hint if you get sea sick), plus it allows you to see more of the scenery. You can put up the sails, but keep in mind that depending on the weather and how much you want to see, and more importantly what kind of sailing experience you want to have, that changes things. The good news is, you have options on how you want to "sail", how much you want to see, and if you're on the boat and captain Dan (and his first mate) have time before their next sail/availability, you have the option of staying out longer (for an extra fee, of course). Where do i begin? From the immediate response I received to my inquiry about renting the boat to the top-notch service we received from the get-go, this was an unforgettable, amazing experience. Let me start by telling you about Captain Dirk. Not only is he extremely professional and knowledgeable, he is one of the nicest people I have met. While there were many highlights of our night, the main one was how Captain Dirk interacted with my daughters. He had the utmost patience for their questions, concerns, excited outbursts and he let them drive the boat!!! They had smiles from ear to ear all night long and have not stopped talking about it yet! Captain Dirk was so patient with them and was teaching them while they were driving and really took the time with them which was incredible. My daughters both said "it was the best night of their lives" and to me, there is nothing better. The boat is gorgeous, so well-kept and extremely comfortable. The ride was beyond words. I am born and raised in NY and work at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, but I have to tell you- seeing the Statute of Liberty from the water and taking pictures right in front of it was more than I ever imagined. Captain Dirk took us to the U.N., the Brooklyn Bridge,the Statute of Liberty, the Freedom Tower, Ellis Island, the Intrepid and explained everything along the way. Due to it being a last min plan I request 4 different boats in my price range to see what's available. I booked this trip to propose to my future wife and can't say enough good things about Sail NYC. Frequent and easy communication regarding the process, great captain and first mate. You might be able to find a private sail for less money but trust me and just book with Sail NYC. I did based on the reviews and it was well worth it. The only thing and it has nothing to do with Sail NYC, was that we sailed on July 4th to make the Grucci fireworks part of the experience. The traffic getting into the marina was horrendous mostly due to the incompetence of the NJ park police. So if you plan on sailing on any high volume holiday like Independence Day then leave PLENTY of extra time. read more

This was a lovely experience on the sailboat, which toured us down to the Statue of Liberty and then back up the east side. We were well accommodated when we planned to dock at La Marina. The sail boat itself was beautiful and clean, the Captain was very helpful. I didn't rate the full 5 stars because we hit some turbulence which was unexpected and not fully prepared to handle which caused things to get a little messy. It would have been nice to know how to properly secure things on the boat. Otherwise the entire day was absolutely perfect. Thanks captain Dan!!! read more

Captain Dan and Alessandro were welcoming and very warm throughout the whole sail and it was the best day to spend a day with friends on the water. We had the most incredible sunset sail with Capt. Dan. Sailed up the East River, under the bridges, saw the sun set at the Statue of Liberty with the FDNY fire boat water display only about 100 feet away. Up the Hudson to the Intrepid and back. The Knotty Kitty is a wonderful well-equipped modern motor yacht that made our trip even better. Will definitely sail again! read more

I was extremely disappointed. The planning portion was super easy and they were great to work with on the phone. The unfortunate part came 24 hours before my event and I received an email that the boat was in need of repairs and wouldn't be ready in time. While I was given 2 other options, my party had other plans that were already set and they couldn't be moved. I had to scramble to find another company to get my party out and about as we had people coming from out of town. I understand things do happen, but more communication, should this have happened earlier in the week, would have been beneficial. read more
