First I just want to say if you get an inquiry or response by someone named Dan, please be advised that he can give false information to you so take everything he says with a grain of salt. I'll explain more after I tell you about how great my sail was. Onto the more important stuff, I'm giving it 5 stars cuz the sail is amazing! I reserved a 4 hr sail with Captain Ed on his beautiful boat, Water Music, and he was beyond hospitable. He helped us out, he talked with us, he would come over and check up on us plenty of times. He knew his stuff and would even come over and warn us if he was about to put a sail up and to watch the ropes so that we won't get hurt. We sailed around the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Governor Island, BK Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and back around. I am already thinking if doing another sail with him because of how great it was. Back to Dan. He is the rudest man I've ever come across and I am glad I didn't see him in person. He talks like an asshole. He makes himself sound like he knows better than you. He talks over you when you're on the phone with him. It came to the point where I had to tell him to stop talking because I'm trying to speak! HE EVEN HUNG UP ON ME DURING A PHONE CONVERSATION! He said we were limited to not bring a lot of food and that everyone in my party had to come all at once. Little did I know that there was plenty of space for all my food AND your entire party can come separately so long as they come at or around the meeting time. Dan made it sound like the walk from the parking lot to the boat was 10 minutes. It literally was a 2 minute walk. He said there was not enough staff to go back and forth to get other members of your party if they come separate times. You can come a separate time... It's just that everyone will need to wait in the parking lot till everyone has shown up. So Dan, don't give false info like that again! You had me and my entire party stressed to the max when that didn't need to be the case at all. Half my friends could've arrived early and waited for me but instead you made them all go out of their way and made their routes longer because of your "Your entire party has to be there at the same time." rule. Overall, great sail, great captain, but Dan, be very careful with him. Do not believe a word he says. read more

We chartered the Imagine That! for an afternoon cruise for my wife's 50th birthday at the end of August because we wanted to do something completely fun and different yet safe in the time of Covid - and it was honestly perfect. My wife is the type-A person in the relationship, but since it was her birthday, this was something I was organizing. They helped make sure that everything was covered and in the places where I needed to ask questions or make requests, they (Scott and Dan) were so responsive! This made my job so much easier. The day of the cruise both Scott (the owner) and Dan (the captain) met us and showed us around, went over safety features and made sure that we were all set to go. Captain Dan was great - he offered several options on where to cruise, and obliged when we said to just take the most scenic route he could in the 5 hours we had planned. He was gracious and accommodating to a 'T'. The two young ladies who were on board to serve food and drinks were fun, helpful and made sure our glasses were never empty. The boat itself was magnificent - spacious, clean, and gorgeous both inside and out. Since it was a beautiful day we spent all of our time on deck, but it was great having two bathrooms as well as a full kitchen at our disposal. The boat was a perfect size for our party of ten - any more and it would have been crowded, but we were fine. We had full reign of the boat and we all really felt like it was ours for the day. The five hours we booked went by much too quickly - so much so that we even when we added an extra hour at the end. My wife and all of our guests said it was one of the best birthday celebrations ever, and we all will be chartering the boat again next summer. read more

The plan was to charter a yacht for a cruise around NYC where I was going to pop the question and then get dropped off in Brooklyn, where all of our family and friends would be waiting for us. It was July 11, 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic and I could not find anyone who would accommodate any arrangements for my engagement idea. I reached out to Captain Dan and he came to the rescue. Captain saved the day and it was the perfect proposal! Not only did he accommodate all of my requests, he also arranged for everything to be taken care of so I didn't have to worry about anything (I was already nervous about the proposal, keeping it a secret and making sure everything was perfect). We got on the gorgeous and clean yacht and sailed off into the sunset. We stopped for some photos around the Statue of Liberty with the NYC skyline in the background and that's when I popped the question. After she said yes, we popped some bubbly and off we went. We arrived at our destination and were greeted by family and friends. Captain Dan made it happen and everything was perfect. I highly recommend SailNYC and Captain Dan for anyone looking to rent a boat in NYC for any occasion! I chartered the Water Music sailboat with Captain Ed for my partner's birthday. It was one of the most amazing experiences we have had in NYC to date. No one from our group had sailed before and enjoyed every minute of the trip. Captain Ed was great and the boat was perfect for our 6 person group. We brought an assortment of cold appetizers that we kept below deck in the kitchen and had no problem making the trip back on deck with a small plate. The cooler provided on deck kept our drinks easily accessible and cold. Highly recommend sailing during sunset, but I am sure any time of day would be great. Our trip was planned for 5:15-8:15, with the sunset around 8, this was perfect timing. We look forward to making this an annual experience. read more

Booking with Captain Dan was nothing short of a perfect interaction. From inquiring about the trip to booking the actual trip, he was on top of everything and communicated with me every step of the way. On the day of my trip, I received an email informing me who our captain was going to be on this trip and they would meet us at the front door once I was in Surf City. Captain Dirk was a fantastic and fun captain and both; I and my out town guest had a fun-filled experience! We rode on the Motor Yacht Kitty and were so happy. This experience was one for the books and if I look to do this again in the future, I know that there will only be one place I would book. I decided to sail with 5 of my friends and we're so glad we did. Reserving was easy, Dan was patient with the questions and the communication was great. We rode the Water Music with Captain Ed, who was very friendly and attentive. The boat was beautiful and we were lucky to have perfect weather. He helped us get amazing pictures in front of the NY skyline and the Statue of Liberty. I was so glad to be able to be picked up in Jersey City without extra fees, most of the other places I looked into were based in NY and would need to charge extra to dock in Jersey. The family has enjoyed going on Sound Waves, a modern 40-foot sailing yacht, for an authentic sailing experience (ropes, hoisting mainsail and jib, catching the wind, sonar and navigation, and motoring too). We love experiencing the from-the-water views of New York Harbor with city skylines, East River bridges, Statue of Liberty, George Washington and Verrazano bridges. It is fun sharing the water with all sorts of ferries, barges, a cruise ship, tour boats, kayaks and other sailboats that are passing by. Captain Dan along with either Captain Abe or first mate Howard are competent and welcoming hosts for this unique and relaxing adventure. read more

Everything from reserving the boat, to paying, to finding and boarding the boat was so easy. Captain Ed was so welcoming and attentive to all our needs while aboard. We had the best time! Great value and very friendly service! Dan was great in helping us coordinate the whole thing and Ed our captain was very nice and helpful! We rented a sailboat for my dad's b-day and it sure will be an unforgettable one! We were 6 adults and the views were amazing. One of the best nights of the summer! We went out on the Water Music, which is such a beautiful boat, for my birthday on July 7th and it was perfect! Captain Ed was excellent and made the night go so smoothly. He supplied the plates, soda and ice and we brought some wine and food for dinner. We motored towards the Statue of Liberty to be there in time for the sunset, Captain Ed took pictures, and then put up the sails and went around Governor's Island and then under the Brooklyn Bridge. We did an evening tour and the views of the city, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island were amazing. This is my new favorite hobby!!! My friends and I rented the sound waves on the Fourth of July and it was absolutely beautiful! We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We went for my birthday and we had Captain Ed & Captain Kevin taking us out for a sunset sail. It was awesome! They were great. We saw all the sights, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Freedom Tower, and of course a beautiful sunset. It was truly a night to remember.
