Booking with Captain Dan was very easy. Great communication through out. I chartered Sound Waves their newest sail boat. I docked at the world trade for the extra docking fee which I believe was a lot easier. It's right behind Brookefield Place where there are amazing restaurants and shopping areas. You can pull right up to the dock after a cruise and right into a restaurant, deff recommend reservations. We ate at PJ Clarke's on The Hudson. The boat was beautiful and as described. Pictures were very accurate. We sailed over to the Statue of Liberty and under the Brooklyn bridge. Views were amazing. Captain Dan even let me sail the boat for a little while which was an amazing experience. Some pointers however, safety tips of any sort such as where the life vests are or what to do in an emergency or certain situation were never explained. One of my guests wore high heels and tried to get up on the bow and he yelled at her screaming "Yo Yo you got to get off" in not the nicest tone. I mean she didn't know because you never explained anything. Overall experience was good however and would recommend.(just ask safety questions prior to sail)

Our party of five enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with Sail NYC. Captain Dan and first mate Peter provided an informative and pleasant mid afternoon cruise of the Hudson with spectacular views of Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, and Manhattan to Chelsea Pier. Everyone aboard was offered an opportunity to pilot the impeccably clean 41 FT Sun Odyssey. Favorable winds and calm seas afforded us a fun yet relaxed atmosphere. We will most certainly sail again with Sail NYC.

The boat we took out-believe it was called sound waves.

I should preface this review with 2 things: 1) I grew up sailing 2) it's something I do for fun every year on my birthday (or for special occasions) So although sailing yourself is fun, it's challenging to enjoy/entertain if not everyone knows how to sail, and more importantly if you truly want to sail more to entertain others than anything else. If that's what you're looking for, NYC sail is for you. Since I've been going to the same person/company to charter a boat for my birthday for the past 6/7 years, I decided to try something different. So I did my research, and contacted NYC sail. Captain Dan responded almost immediately (he's good about email turnaround within 24hrs and will answer the phone during normal business hours). He immediately gave me availability (by date, boat, and cost). One I selected the date/time, he sent me a confirmation via email with a link to make a refundable deposit (check the amount of time in advance where if you cancel it's refundable), but it's definitely refundable if the weather doesn't cooperate (so no worries there). Note: the rest has to be paid in CASH on the boat at the end of your sail. The boat is really nice/spacious and in excellent condition. Has a great and roomy clean cabin with prep space for snacks, and a table for eating (and a cooler for drinks you want to bring)! Also, there is a fully working bathroom on board, which is great. Further, there is a bamini (a cover for the back of the boat where you have plenty of room to seat 6), so you can seek shade during your sail. He gives you the option of using a motor (no sails up, and the motor propels you around), which stabilizes the boat more (hint if you get sea sick), plus it allows you to see more of the scenery. You can put up the sails, but keep in mind that depending on the weather and how much you want to see, and more importantly what kind of sailing experience you want to have, that changes things. The good news is, you have options on how you want to "sail", how much you want to see, and if you're on the boat and captain Dan (and his first mate) have time before their next sail/availability, you have the option of staying out longer (for an extra fee, of course). Quick communication, nice boat, fun experience!

What an experience! Captain Scott and first mate Allison were both very attentive and welcoming. We had a party of four and everyone had an awesome time. Watching the sun set was such an amazing moment. Looking forward to another great time with this spectacular crew.

Where do i begin? From the immediate response I received to my inquiry about renting the boat to the top-notch service we received from the get-go, this was an unforgettable, amazing experience. Let me start by telling you about Captain Dirk. Not only is he extremely professional and knowledgeable, he is one of the nicest people I have met. While there were many highlights of our night, the main one was how Captain Dirk interacted with my daughters. He had the utmost patience for their questions, concerns, excited outbursts and he let them drive the boat!!! They had smiles from ear to ear all night long and have not stopped talking about it yet! Captain Dirk was so patient with them and was teaching them while they were driving and really took the time with them which was incredible. My daughters both said "it was the best night of their lives" and to me, there is nothing better. The boat is gorgeous, so well-kept and extremely comfortable. The ride was beyond words. I am born and raised in NY and work at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, but I have to tell you- seeing the Statute of Liberty from the water and taking pictures right in front of it was more than I ever imagined. Captain Dirk took us to the U.N., the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statute of Liberty, the Freedom Tower, Ellis Island, the Intrepid and explained everything along the way. It was a night to remember and one of the best nights of my life. Thank You Captain Dirk for an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend you and your services and we will definitely be back for more services!!!

To start, the arrival instructions emailed in advance were accurate and easy to follow and accounted for local construction. Our tour was for us and one couple; Captain Bryant was our captain, and he was an absolute delight. He went through the safety information and told us what to expect from our time on the water as well as some information about our boat before leading us to it right on time. The boat was at the end of the floating docks with a lockable storage container nearby in case anyone wanted to store purses or backpacks. We got a bit of a chuckle once we got on board, because we had never seen seats like this on a boat before! The seats were two across and you sat on one by straddling. Grab bars were at the front. (There aren't any seatbelts!) Captain Bryant told us the seats in the front were the "bounciest", so naturally, that's what we chose. We went slowly out of the marine before -- with a heads up -- our captain got us to what felt like a pretty high speed! My mom and I are both moderate adrenaline junkies and were pretty thrilled. It was a definite rush but never, ever felt unsafe. From there, Captain Bryant alternating between "hitting the gas" and stopping at multiple spots for absolutely stunning views of midtown, downtown, the Brooklyn Bridge, DUMBO, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and more. He was super clear, easy to understand, and informative about each stop but never boring. He also took photos (with our own phones) at the stops whenever we wanted, which was very kind. He got us back after the hour -- again, right on time, and we chatted with him a bit about how enjoyable he finds this job. It's clear in the entire experience what a wonderful fit it is for him -- and he is for it. I wouldn't recommend this tour for someone with mobility or balance issues, or someone who would feel exposed and anxious in such a relatively small (but FAST) boat out on the rivers. But for me, it's one of my favorite boat tours I've ever taken anywhere. It was 1000% worth the money (with no upselling!).

Our Captain, Bryant, was super informative. Made many stops for sharing info and photo opportunities! Brooklyn Bridge with the skyline in the background and Statue of Liberty. It helped that the weather was absolutely perfect. I can see how the ride may get chilly so definitely bring layers. And sunglasses to protect your eyes from the wind. Highly recommend!!!

From the moment we boarded, everything felt well-organized and welcoming. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the check-in and seating process smooth. The real highlight, of course, was the view. Seeing the skyline from the water gives you an entirely different appreciation for the city's architecture and scale. Passing by iconic landmarks while listening to the live narration added a lot of depth to the experience. Our tour guide, Andrew, was especially knowledgeable about the history of the city--he shared fascinating facts, stories, and context that really brought each landmark to life, all while keeping things engaging and easy to follow. The boat itself was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space to move around and take photos. Whether you prefer sitting inside or enjoying the open-air deck, there's a good spot for everyone. I especially appreciated how unhurried the cruise felt; there was enough time to soak in each sight without feeling rushed. I'd highly recommend the Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise to both visitors and locals--it's a relaxing, informative, and scenic way to see the city from a whole new angle.

Our private three-hour sail (2:30-5:30) was perfectly relaxing -- just the three of us on a calm, overcast afternoon in New York Harbor, with a refreshing breeze and gentle waves beneath us. Captain Eric's beautiful sailboat took us up close to the Statue of Liberty and beneath the three "BMW" bridges -- Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg. The views were stunning, and the peaceful rhythm of the water made the whole experience feel like a world away from the city's bustle. What truly made the trip special was Captain Eric himself. His insight into the harbor's history and his passion for the Billion Oyster Project -- a local STEM initiative working to restore oyster reefs through education -- really inspired us. As visitors from North Carolina, we were moved to make a gift in honor of the impact Eric had on our day and his dedication to teaching others about protecting the local environment. Such a great guy, and you can tell that he really loves what he does. We booked the two hour sail for 4 people that included a sail to the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan Skyline on the Hudson River. The whole sailing experience was wonderful and relaxing, and the views were gorgeous. Also really enjoyed listening to all his stories and histories about the area as we sailed (he'll share with you as much or as little as you want!). We booked the sail so our friend could propose to his girlfriend during it, and Captain Eric worked with him both in advance and while on the sail to ensure that it all went smoothly and perfectly! This included live updates on the weather and the option to reschedule due to inclement weather. He also gave advice on the best portion of the sail for the proposal. We were also able to take some great engagement photos while on the boat as well (and Captain Eric even grabbed some great candids for us as well!). Overall, the most wonderful experience, and hands down will do it again next time we return to New York.
