I had been struggling with nasal polyps for 15 years and kept putting surgery off due to fear. Last winter, my polyps became unbearable. Very knowledgeable and experienced doctor! I saw two doctors prior to seeing Dr. Said and both gave me a rushed visit, issued me a prescription for what they thought was a nasal infection and off I went. I was pretty confident that I had other issues going on that required something more. I went to Dr. Said for a second opinion. My gut feeling was right. Dr. Said was great. He spent a lot of time checking on my nose and figuring out what the problem was. He used a couple of instruments that the other doctors were not using during their examination. This was nice because he was actually trying to figure out what the problem was. I went in for a septoplasty surgery and I can finally breath now. I spent 10 years stupidly dealing with this problem instead of getting it addressed immediately. I can finally breath at night and throughout the entire night. I can also sleep on either side of the pillow without any issues. Before I could barely breath throughout the night when sleeping on my left side. Went to see him for a second opinion. First impression of the office itself was nice. Modern, clean, easy to access. The front office staffer was polite, professional and even offered a toy for my daughter to play with while I filled out paperwork. The pt rooms are also nice. Very clean in appearance and spacious but efficient in layout. Dr Said himself was very polite. He actually put some mental energy into helping me resolve my issue, which i appreciated greatly. I went with my parents to see Dr Said. We had scheduled appointment for my Dad who is 91 years young to have built up wax taken out of his ears, which this is common when you wear hearing aids. Anyways, Dr Said was very professional and personable. He also checked his throat and nose. Office very clean, modern and parking was easy. I have never given a yelp review for a positive experience before today. However, my experience with Dr. Bassem Said was everything I was hoping for and more. I walked into his office for an injury that had occurred to my face. I immediately thought the worst. He quickly assured me that the pain i felt in my cheek was nerve damage and would heal in time on it's own and that i should not worry.(It went away just as he said it would.) However, upon his inspection, he noticed i had a severely deviated septum. He made me aware of the problem, which i had lived with for as long as i can remember but always felt like i was struggling to breathe, and he explained that i was in fact receiving significantly less airflow through my nose, especially my left side, due to the deviated septum. He assured me that he could fix my problem and explained how the process would work. There wasn't even a second of hesitation on my part, because i had already took notice of about a dozen various high achievement plaques and degrees while i sat in the waiting room for a very short period of time. His calm demeanor and professionalism assured me that both he and I would have no problem with this procedure. The septoplasty surgery was on a monday morning and took about an hour and a half. He, as well as his very well-trained staff instructed me on the proper techniques necessary for the healing process. Several times during my healing process, i had questions and concerns, and the reception desk calmly talked me off the ledge when i called and answered all my questions. Margey, the head office assistant, was very proactive when it came to my paperwork for time off from work and disability and walked me through this unfamiliar territory. I went in to see Dr. Said the Friday after the surgery to remove the splints and cut out a stitch. That is propably one of the most uncomfortable feelings I have ever felt and even then i just felt so calm because i was so confident in Dr. Said's ability. 3 more weeks have gone by and i just walked out of his office for the last time as he cut my final stitch out and was extremely satisfied with the results. Thats makes two of us! Im so serious about this, if you need your nose fixed, this is your guy! If he isn't under your health coverage, change your coverage, it'll be worth it. To summarize this novel i just wrote, this experience with Dr. Bassem Said was "life-changing" and i really can not thank him enough. My fiance's pretty happy too since i stopped snoring. My mother and I took my 90 year old grandmother with dementia to see Dr. Bassem Said. She had started having nose bleeds and was in the emergency room the day before. I do have to say that even though they were booked they did schedule my grandmother in between his other patients. My grandmother's nose had started to bleed in the car while we were going to his office but nothing like it had been. So when we walked into the office the front desk lady took us right into the room. About 10 minutes later Dr. Bassem Said, came in. We told him that the blood on her blouse was from the ride over here. And he said "IT LOOKS LIKE OLD DRY BLOOD"? My mother and I looked at each other in disbelieve. Is he saying we got her dressed and put an old bloody blouse on her!!! He then said "well she's not bleeding now, not sure what you want me to do" I said can you look inside her nose and try to find the problem? So he did "nothing he said" He then said he could do one of two things. 1. Send us home with spray OR 2. Put a pack inside her nose just in case it starts again. We asked him what he would do. He said the pack. So we agreed. As soon as he started to put it in her nose it was like turning on a water faucet. My grandmother started choking on her own blood and he was telling her in a loud voice "be still or I can't do this" over and over again. My grandmother is crying and in a lot of pain as he is shoving things in her nose. I had to grab her teeth out of her mouth because they were now swimming in her blood. As she is still bleeding, he walks out of the room (not saying a word to us) he comes back with one of his staff who just stood there. He finally gets two packs in her right nose and one in the left. As there is blood everywhere he says "you can take her to the emergency room if we want"! WHAT!!! We are now wheeling my grandmother out of his office in her wheelchair trying to clean her up at the same time. When we get to the parking lot of his office, she is really choking she says "she can't breathe". I called 911 from his parking lot. When the Fire Dept and the ambulance got there, they asked "Where is the doctor"? And "Why didn't he call us"? You can imagine what I said about him @#!%! They got my grandmother in the ambulance and she was still choking they could see, that the packing he put in her nose had slipped into her throat and she was choking on it. My mother ran inside told the doctor and he came out and took some of the air out of the packing pulled it from her throat and re-taped it and left. When we got to John Muir Hospital another ENT doctor had to take the packing out and put in better/ safer ones. I would not recommend Dr. Bassem Said to anyone. Thank you for reading my review. The packing /nose plug that you have had years of experience and training putting in. Had gone into my grandmother's throat and was choking her. And you say "I am happy to say that I was able to meet this objective on that day." Well what do you do for an encore? My god! I hope you would not treat your grandmother or anyone else like this. Great doctor, beautiful office, responsive staff! I was finally referred to Dr. Said after 5+ years of suffering tonsillitis and being ignored by other ENTs in my health network. He explained the options and warned about what to expect from surgery-as removing tonsils as an adult isn't exaclty fun. We scheduled surgery and Dr. Said removed my tonsils using a very convenient outpatient surgery center. I have to admit the first week was rough, week 2 a little better-and I am now breathing better, sleeping better and feel wonderful just 3 weeks out! I've been with Dr. Said for over eleven years now. Two weeks ago, he surgically removed a tumor in my neck. He'd been following this for all these years, patiently waiting for me to opt for removal of this benign mass. Everything went just as he predicted and my recovery has been great. I have had chronic sinus issues for a few years now and was recently referred to Dr. Said. He suggested surgery to correct my deviated septum and reduce my turbonates. I figured it probably wouldn't make my sinus issues any worse, so I decided to move forward with the surgery. The first day of recovery was difficult, but the expectations were made very clear by Dr. Said with my wife so she knew what was normal. We took our daughter in she thought she had a deviated septum like her dad whom Dr Said had done surgery a couple years back. My daughter had been using Afrin so much it made her nose swollen to the point dr wasn't able to see anything. He told her to stop using the Afrin come back in 6 weeks. We got our bill where he charged our insurance 1300 for an endoscopy he lied! I called to dispute and he stuck to his lie that he did what he charged us for. Our portion was 97$ no big deal i wouldn't mind paying that if his practices weren't so unethical. When a Dr flat out lies about the service he provides and passes the bill off to unsuspecting patients his integrity is shot. Never ever go see this guy. Oh yah during the visit my husband told him ,I had surgery a couple years ago." Dr looked up his nose and said,"whoa your gonna need another surgery youve got tissue growing around the bone" who did your surgery?" ,"you did", replied my husband. "I did that to you!!" Dr. Said and his staff are fantastic. I've been a patient for close to a year and have always received exceptional service and care. I suffered for several years with sinus issues and always chalked it up to allergies and just "dealt with it". Finally, I was miserable, my symptoms progressed to the point of losing my sense of taste and smell and (according to my husband) I snored really bad. This place is BEYOND a RIP OFF. Not only was my doctor over an hour late to see me but when I was finally taken back to the room I had to wait another 20 minutes. He put a machine up to my ear for about 2 minutes and stated the obvious. His office lost my insurance claim so I had to come out of pocket for over $300 for NOTHING! His receptionist is extremely rude!!!!! My 20 month old needed to be seen and she kept asking me why I want a second opinion and told me I will be charged 200.00 for the visit and the doctor will not be using the camera to see inside my son 's nostril. I told her I'm fine and I am prepared to pay the fee since I could smell a very foul odor from his nostril. My appointment was on Thursday and she called me today to tell me she had given my appointment away. I had to wait an entire week to see this doctor and she just now cancelled it. Dr. Said has been my ENT for a little over a year now. Since coming to California from the east coast I have suffered from allergies and chronic congestion along with the occasional sinus infection. Recently, Dr. Said performed a septoplasty and turbinate reduction in order to help my breathing. 4 weeks later and I am breathing perfectly--better than I did before moving to California! The fact that my recovery went so well is a testament to Dr. Said's skill and experience with this surgery: I was using Afrin daily which is known to cause complications and extended recovery times for this procedure. I saw Dr, Bassem in Dec 1015 for a biopsy in my mouth. I asked him is I needed pain medication. He said no. While the surgery seemed to go well, the next day I had the worst pain in my entire life. I lost my voice, got TMJ and other things. I did call his office as I was desperate for pain medication. It turns out that because I could barely speak, they could not understand my message. I later saw a periodontist for another issue and shw was shocked when I told her that Dr. Bassam would not prescribe pain medication. On my follow-up visit with Dr. Bassam I told him what I had gone through. He was not even surprised! Then why didn't he give me pain medication? read more

Receptionists are very rude tried to get in after having dizziness for two weeks they were not helpful at all left a message for the Dr. to contact me because I had some questions he did not call me back the receptionist called and said the Dr. will answer my questions but I have to schedule an appointment meaning I had to wait a month in half to be seen. I took my mother for an ear cleaning, after cleaning her ear Dr. Said started poking her nose which previously had a cist and had been drained. He poked her many times unable to get anything out except lot of blood, he then went from the inside her mouth and almost made her scream from pain. He didn't use any type of anesthesia and my mother was in a lot of pain but he says it's almost done. I guess he was saving on his anesthetic meds. We left the office and the next day half of my mother's face was bruised. We had to leave to Los Angeles for a family emergency and during our stay there her face got swollen and her nose shifted to the right basically she was deformed. Back from Los Angeles I made an appointment and scheduled her for 4pm. The day of her appointment a staff member called and said Dr. Said can't make it at 4pm, can you come in at 12pm. I accepted even though I had no babysitter for my 2 year old at 12pm. Once at the Doctor's office I let the receptionist know that I had scheduled my babysitter for 4 and she couldn't make it at 12pm. She said just take him inside. She was rude and didn't even apologize for changing the schedule on us at the last minute. Once we got to see the doctor he had one of the worst attitude I've experienced from a doctor. Horrible bed side manners and almost insulting. As if he knew he missed up and wanted to retaliate in advance. I explained to him what had happened and he barely looked at my mother's face, didn't even bother looking inside the mouth where there was a big sore area as a result of his needles. When I asked him why she was so deformed he was very rude and started talking about surgery to remove whatever he had created there. Of course he wanted to do surgery so he could make some more money. My mother refused surgery and his attitude was basically get out of my office. I'm now taking her to other ENT doctors and also filing a complaint with the Medical Board of California. If my mother's face remains deformed I will also pursue him legally. Dr. Said is the best! I've been a patient of his for 6 years. He solved a couple of issues with my throat and voice. He also found and eventually surgically removed a mass on my thyroid gland. He went out of his way to find a surgical location that offered great care and surroundings at a lower price, since I had no insurance coverage at the time.
