If you don't have a dedicated smog shop I would like to recommend, Sai's Smog. I've been coming here to get my STAR SMOG done for many years and both Sai & his wife always provide great service. They'll take the time to explain how things work if you have questions instead of rushing you out like other smog shops that I've previously been to. Their prices are very reasonable and I always enjoy Sai's jokes. read more

I've been coming here for years. Always fast and competitive pricing. To avoid lines come early and do not come at closing time.

Thank you Mr. Sai for the service and good quality customer service. Will definitely be coming back to do my smog test here. Thank you for helping me solve my issues with smog. 10/10 would recommend. Really appreciate the honesty and hard work. read more

My husband is a repeat customer here. He is picky and not afraid to discontinue service when he isn't satisfied.

Best smog check in the Bay Area! The owner is very friendly and can make your day. Service is fast and efficient, highly recommend!

I always get my smog done here, the owners are very knowledgeable and friendly. They have been running the business for years and know a lot about the industry. Sai Smog Test Only - Smog Check Stations Near Me - San Jose, California

Terrible place! Rude, crude and unattractive. Why are they still in business? Oh, yeah Vietnamese! My car did not pass and they acted like asses. I sort of thought they were not legit because when he put in what model of car I had he put in Rolls Royce Corniche, ( I have a Dodge). So I had to report him to the State. Do not go here you will be sorry. When I left my car was in worse shape than when I brought it in, (I think they sabotaged it - because rather than back up the car they drove it around the block!) Now my transmission is out. Don't say you weren"t warned - I'm not lying about this racket. I've been here in San Jose for 55 years now. I wish that SAI was GONE! LOL read more

I highly recommend this place. When I just moved here, my church friend recommended Danny to me. I've come here twice now. Danny is trustworthy, efficient, and helpful, a very kind person. If you are looking for a mechanic you can trust, who would never attempt to sell you anything you don't need nor over-charge you, and just take care of you and your car, this is the place. read more

Great place to smog when the time comes. Sai is a funny funny man that knows what he is doing. I would highly recommend. Been going to Sai for close to a decade , the whole family has. read more

Sai is the man. He was recommended by my mechanic Danny (who is also awesome and is right next door) and I've been getting smogs here for a long time. I had a check engine light on and he helped me reset it and told me exactly what I needed to do to keep it off in order to get the smog passed. I hadn't been over there in 3 years and he still remembered me and my dad. He seemed to know every customer by name. In all my times I've been here, I've never ever got the feeling that I was getting the run around or being lied to. Honest guy who knows his stuff and cares about his customers. What more can you ask for? Him and his wife do a great job. Great place ESPECIALLY if you have an older car or a car that you know will have trouble passing smog. Make sure to check their hours. Location is in an industrial zone which is not the most parking friendly, but the peace of mind you get here makes up for it. Forewarning for people who aren't from East San Jose: he's very straightforward and blunt but don't mistake that for rudeness, the guy is super nice and friendly. Be ready for plenty of banter cause Sai is always cracking jokes. read more

Called this place on Saturday to get a quote on how much a smog check would be and the lady who picked up the phone was super unhappy about it. She was shouting the whole time when I asked her for a quote and if I could come in anytime today. Not gonna deal with people who treat me like this. I'm not asking to be treated like a queen but be professional. You don't have to shout. I'm not deaf. There's COUNTLESS smog stations I can go to. read more

the guy running this place is awesome! really really helpful and kind, to boot. here's the story: we had a 1992 miata checked up in san ramon, and the guy there said it didn't pass because "it's too old". um. any recommendations to make the car newer? anyhow, we took it to in and out and had it checked again after replacing an oxygen sensor. it still didn't pass because it has a header that's illegal in CA, not because it's polluting too much. this is good info to have, right? the guy running the place didn't charge the normal $58, he didn't charge anything at all, mainly because he felt we got screwed by the other place. i will go back here, for sure. and i'll go to all this guy's mechanic friends. totally great experience, highly recommended. read more

My entire family uses this place to get a smog check. Best in town.

Fast and excellent service! Sai and his workers are super friendly. My new go-to smog place. Highly recommend!

Nice guy, quick work, good price. Would go back for sure. Only smog in the area that opens at 8am.

Sai deserves your business. Took a Nissan SUV to him that, according to a chain tire store, needed $1100 to pass emissions. When he pulled the codes, only 1 of the 3 that the chain store cited me came up. Per Sai's recommendation, some good gas and a brief stint of long distance driving corrected *that* code, and the truck passed with flying colors. His knowledge of cars goes far beyond emissions issues, as he and I discussed some VW electrical issues in the process. Turns out he was exactly right on *that* too, which meant $800 in repairs instead of $2500.l I can't recommend him highly enough... read more

Honest, efficient, helpful. Wish I'd taken my truck to him in the first place -- I could have saved hundreds of dollars in unnecessary repairs. He was recommended by mechanic Frank Joseph. Definitely gets my recommendation as well. read more
