The only tiny downside is Cuticles has a very strong nail lacquer smell that's pretty pungent so it's not pleasant the first few minutes you're there but then you get used to it. Not Pam's fault though so still giving her five stars.

It's a cultural thing she had the thread in her mouth and was speaking to the fellow threaders but that stuff doesn't bother me. I know the drill lol I'd come back. Maybe see if she can tackle my brows next! Not a grizzly bear anymore!

Today (Thursday July 17th at 1pm) I'm not sure what was happening but there was an extensive line. The threading artist was obviously practicing first come first served which Im used to. However the issue today was me getting pushed behind all of these customers who came in the shop AFTER me. Me being the only African American in there. Not saying it's a race thing, but let your brain paint whatever picture it needs. She then calls another person and I give a look of unsatisfactory and she says "you'll be next." Obviously I'm upset waiting there for 45 minutes already, and on my lunch break. I had to leave not only to get back to work but to keep myself from crashing out. I just think it's disrespectful to treat any guest this way but especially one who comes in every month for the last 3 years. Unfortunately that left a horrible taste in my mouth and I will never be back.

My forehead got burned from the wax. The threading, however, was good. One more thing to be careful about is that the owner does not honor the prices listed on the board. Her waxing prices are more expensive than high-end waxing places like Uni K Wax, despite having much lower hygiene standards(she dips the same wooden waxing spatula into the wax machine and reuses it until she can't use it anymore). I was charged $30 for underarms, whereas it costs $25 at Uni K, and half legs with a "deal" cost $55, while it costs $50 at Uni K. The only thing that was better was eyebrow threading.

And once irritated enough, I had to speak up for myself. In return-- Called me privileged. Calling someone privileged is racist. The shop owner and daughter antagonized me since I sat down and the daughter muttering under her breath was totally out of line which cause most of the frustration, clearly unprofessional. Clearly they don't take customer service seriously because they did not try to address my concerns yesterday and write defense statements in return. No manners were provided since the beginning of the service as I stated I wanted the eyebrows cleaned up. Not any smaller. Their responses are defense stating I have no eyebrows. It's extremely aggressive to insult a PAYING customer. There's an eyebrow salon on every corner of Bergen line and plenty of more professional, quick courteous and polite options to choose from or return to. Simply decided to try this business since it was steps away from the NJ light rail, but evidently it was a terrible mistake.

I often get asked why I would still drive to Hoboken when there are so many great salons and spas in NYC and I can truly say it's because of the team. Of course the studio is clean, relaxing and beautiful - that's a given in today's beauty industry and what we've come to expect and demand - but the team is so professional, knowledgeable and beyond skilled, and that's the difference. In addition to having a talented and educated staff, Skin by EC offers a wide range of treatment options that have completely changed my body and skin. (All I can say is ask about the venus legacy for cellulite reduction. It has changed my life and I've gone from not wanting to wear shorts to loving my legs again - thank you!!!) With that said, I would like to acknowledge Maggie. She has completely transformed my skin and body and I am so grateful I found her. She is so clean, knowledgeable and friendly, and I trust her recommendations because of how skilled she is. I also appreciate all the little extra things she does during my treatments to make my experience a 15/10.
