About a year ago I was doing some Yelp-y stuff up at the Northern Beaches Music Festival at…read moreNarrabeen, and as the lazy Sunday was winding down I wandered out and stumbled upon O!Momo Nepalese dumplings. Say whaa? As a committed dumpling fiend of some repute I thought I knew every dumper ever made. But chicken momo? Gimme. Chicken was succulent, and slathered in a tomato relish that tasted of mild, fragrant curry the damn things were a taste sensation. I got 6. Then another 6. Since then I've been seeing O!Momo pop up all over the place, from Newtown Festival to Field Day in the Domain to it's latest incarnation in the courtyard of World Bar in King's Cross dishing out puffed rice salads and char-grilled skewers to hungry punters. And I met Bunny, the owner, a native Nepali fluent in more languages than I'll ever speak in my lifetime. Dudes like Bunny are part of the reason I love small businesses . . . he's super chilled out and intensely pro-human, as happy as he is dishing up deliciousness as he is hanging out with customers chatting about philosophy, festivals and traveling. Now all I have to do is get over to Nepal. It's on the bucket list. It's been there for ages. One of these days.... !

My husband is a massive dumpling fan and is obsessed with all varieties of pork and seafood…read moredumplings. Me on the other hand... when I hear the word "dumplings" I think "sigh... boring!" You see, I don't eat pork. I don't eat seafood. I only eat chicken and vegetarian stuff- oh but did I mention I don't eat mushrooms either? Typical dumpling restaurants serve bland vegetarian options that require a bucketload of sauce to even taste remotely interesting and half the time when I order chicken they are "out of them" and that's if I can even find chicken on the menu! My point here? Dumplings and me usually don't have a great relationship. So I was quite curious to see what a Nepalese dumpling tastes like. I got to try these little beauties for the first time at the Yelp '80s party and this may be a big claim but the chicken dumpling is probably the best I've ever tried. Unlike the typical Asian dumplings I am accustomed to- these were not average. The tomato relish and coriander was tasty accompaniment and a welcome surprise for my picky taste buds. Can't say I was a fan of the puffed rice salad and the vegetarian dumplings were more similar to the standard dumplings I'm used to- but that chicken one? I'd hunt this place down just for that alone.

Traditional Gyradiko has opened up in Rosebery!!!!…read more I've heard about this place out in Bexley but since that's a bit of a trek...never made it out there. Well hot damn I'm so glad it just opened up out this way. You can get takeaway or eat in...if you eat in you can bring the whole family as there's plenty of space. They serve alcohol too...what's not to like? You can get a gyro for $9, and if you want chips and a drink just tack on $5...can you say value?!? They have other dishes, but some weren't available yet like their burgers (I will eat you...maybe not now...but I will eat you.) I got the pork gyro and it was fan-fuggin-tastic. Tender meat and their chips are really really good...they must sprinkle the good stuff on them. They also make their own sauces, and I loved their aioli. Will definitely be back to get more gyro goodness as well as trying their platters.

We both ordered a plate which came with crispy, pork cooked to perfection. If you enjoy crackling, get the pork! Side of tasty chips, fresh greek salad, good sized portion of tzatziki and AMAZING pita bread. The small platter cost $16 including a soft drink and the portion size was more than enough for me. The staff were also friendly and chatted to all of the customers who came through. Plenty of seating as well as being a take away shop. Will definitely be going back for a gyro!

Now I…read moreagree with Hannah on this one: food trucks in Sydney have that habit of creeping up on you. However, you have some degree of control over this. Why? You can follow this food truck on twitter or head to their website to stay in the loop as to when Eat Art Truck will be coming to a festival near you. This black truck is in vogue. Tried the yummy food at the Sydney Opera House for the first time, only to find them at MasterChef LIVE a week later with three other food trucks. At around 1pm on a sunny Sunday afternoon, they get crowded. Be prepared to wait a bit. Although a little pricey ($12 for a lunch item) - the food is divine. Pity the bun came last in my BBQ Brisket. Love the asian salad and the meat pieces are rather generous in size. Due to this demand, it is a fair assumption to say that Eat Art Truck is here to stay. Oh, and if you don't have cash on you - EFTPOS facilities are available. Rejoice.

These guys are awesome... I was visiting my sister in Sydney Australia, all the way from Phoenix…read moreArizona, and have heated of these guys but never seen them, so they were in Lidcomb (I think) one weekend in June (freezing cold) and we went and saw them. They know how to put up a show. Lines were long and it was worth it. We get out order in and the guys are nice, friendly, with a huge smile and huge beards (just like me). They sing and dance and and bake our favorite middle eastern desert "knafeh". Now the food....I've never had Jerusalem style Knafeh, I've had of course the Armenian style called (ghadayef) also the Egyptian style which is called (basboosa) and the Jordanian and Lebanese style. I know some may say they're different but in many ways (to me) the idea is the same. This type of knafeh I had was a very good knafeh, for a food truck baking it fast, but it wasn't the best. Still we went back the next day, we got some more and their tea that they prepare omg is so good. Go for the dance, the atmosphere, the fun times, and also the knafeh. It's really good. Can't wait to come back to Sydney and Experience them again. May be they should come to Phoenix. #TheBeardedArmenian

It was packed with people waiting in line, eating and simply there enjoying the music and entertainment. These long bearded men know how to throw a party. The music was loud, all the workers were dancing as well as the crowd that was around. This place attracted people from all ages with different diversities and backgrounds. It was something very different from what I've ever experienced, especially when there's only 3 things on the menu! 1 that's actually edible - their knafeh. The knafeh ...where do I begin. That sweeeet sweet cheese dessert!! It was almost like a more textured, creamier but lighter version of a creme brulee. It's a little sugar heavy so I would recommend sharing it with another person unless you have a major sweet tooth then you'll easily demolish this. It was simple and delicious - and to only have that on the menu they are definitely doing something right. If you haven't tried it - definitely go before they move to a different location! It's $8 you will not regret.

This was a combination of fragrant rice served with anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, cucumber, and traditional chili paste. No, Paul, you're ridiculous (I say to myself in retrospect), it's to host the Glebe Street Fair! Taking place once per annum, it's an exciting event where dozens of vendors set up stalls in the middle of the street. There's over a kilometer of different stalls with ethnic food, handmade crafts, and nifty activities. I, along with hundreds of other people, descended into the street to check out the buzz. The fair has entertainment all day long, including attractions for kids, live music, and street performances. I was so intrigued by the amount of stalls here that sold practical and quirky things; I ended up making friends with a hammock salesman. Who'd have guessed? The performance I was most looking forward to was the unicyclist riding a super tall unicycle. Unfortunately, it started belting rain in the late afternoon, so I ran back home, disappointed once again at Mother Nature.
