If you are looking for a table, go around the queue and ask one of the friendly staff. They will whip you up a table (inside or out) in no time. It's table service too. Good strong coffee - I ordered a strong regular and it nearly knocked my socks off! My friend has the baked eggs every time he comes here - which is weekly; my other friend always goes eggs her way, scrambled with a side of bacon; I've gone for the provincial board which was delightful. The crowd is mixed - young, old, families, couples and friends. Basically a nice café for everybody.

Grain, wholemeal and white versions of the above but unfortunately no gluten free. They have Toby's coffee if you're a fan and a good selection of juices. If you're a big sandwich fan then this is the place for you. Even though there's not much room inside I like that there are window bench seats and a large wooden communal table. Here are words associated with Sprout that will tell you all you need to know: kale, quinoa, organic, green bowl, activated, superfood. I was a tad hungover so eschewed the benefits of a green bowl for an organic beef burger with relish on a triangular bun (triangles are back, yo!) that was a proper two-hand job and left me feeling way better than a milk bar burger might. The coffee is all kinds of great too, as is sitting outside on a milk crate in the little corner nook between two shops like some kind of breakfast creep.

We needed to have brunch before another roadtrip and the missus suggest we try this place as she had noted it had opened recently. I guess the first test of any cafe is their coffee. Sprout has great coffee and it was well made. No complaints. I ordered the Egg & Bacon Roll (see photo) which came with rocket, tomato relish and aioli. The rolls itself was one of the triangular Brasserie Bread rolls and with the fillings quite literally became a handheld meal. I appreciated the fact that the fried egg still had a runny yolk - as I have a personal dislike to hard cooked yolk. The missus stepped up and ordered the Big Breakfast with added Avocado (see photo). The whole meal was good, and we both noted that the poached eggs were cooked perfectly (slightly done but still runny). - yeah I'm a runny egg fiend. We sat out the back on the Terrace and enjoyed the fresh air whilst looking at their new garden set up. The man in the store explained that they were growing a kitchen garden down the long side of the backyard and that the smaller patch nearer our table was likely to be some citrus plants. The hand knitted scarves from Peru, acoustic and Celtic music playing the background, the vintage clothes and shoes corner down the back, the Indian rugs, the wooden floor boards, the globe hanging from the centre of the room, the random treasures I imagine collected on travels make this a Cafe a traveler would feel at home in. Some would recognize the hippy flavour but to me it tastes like home. The chicken, avocado, sun dried tomato and mayo on gluten free bread was as full and gourmet as I'd make at home - rough and beefy. Comforting. Coffee is fairtrade and organic. I called them and gave them the benefit of the doubt it was a genuine error. They asked me to physically come back to the store for the refund. I've never been treated so poorly but a cafe or any business. They made me wait, and said they were too busy to deal with my request. I had to articulate (loudly) that I'm waiting on their error. They then blamed me three times for telling them the wrong date and amount and they can't confirm. Once the charge was found they refused to refund the money because they couldn't confirm it was me. The Cafe Manager was rude, defensive and aggressive. I left upset and embarrassed by the whole scenario. They have no email to communicate. I will have to escalate to the Ombudsman, because they've my money and refused to refund. I'm most upset because they've ruined my Saturday mornings where I go to music class with my little girl and we have a babyccino and coffee after.

While the big breaky was a bit pricier than I had expected ($18), it was what my stomach desired. So I grabbed it and a dbl mac and sat down in the quiet, relaxing courtyard next to the cafe. With blue sky, a nice cool breeze and the warm greeting as my coffee appeared at my table, I became even happier with my choice. The coffee was awesome! So velvety smooth and delicious. The décor is nothing special but that is fine as the service is friendly making for a comfortable, relaxing and unpretentious environment. I tend to treat it as a quick lunch spot as they make great burgers and they have gelato. Worth a look.
