I have always had a backup script but it was old so I threw it out not realizing I wouldn't be able to get another (even though in the past at this practice I have). After arguing with Stephanie Kirk for over 5 minutes, trying to convince her these were only for emergencies, I got up and walked out. If you are foolish enough to make an appointment with this nurse maybe you can ask her what any women traveling for work should do at 37,000'. Her suggestion was to take cranberry, make an appointment and come in. Obviously she has never had a serious UTI that requires immediate attention. I would like to say it was only a lack of experience, however Stephanie Kirk's complete disregard for my uncommon situation and lack of basic understanding of a somewhat common ailment leaves me to question her capabilities. Furthermore, for someone in her position, this lack of understanding and knowledge of common post-menopausal issues is disturbing and leaves me baffled as to how she obtained her job. Mrs. Kirk, cranberries don't always cut it.

I decided on this place because while it was more expensive than my budget allowed I had heard good…read morethings about them. They're specialities online said "Support and resources for miscarriage" "Help management of Postpartum Depression" I'm so angry because they did the OPPOSITE of that. They emailed me paper work to fill out before my appointment; paperwork that for myself not having the resources/technology to print it off and return it or to edit it online. I had mentioned self pay and the hinderance for appointments because of cost and then was given no resources/ability to send it in by their desired time. I then received 4 phone calls and multiple text messages to confirm my appointment within a three day period because i was unable to send in said paperwork and I confirmed every-time. Someone with autism and doctor anxiety, and postpartum depression, this caused me to almost not come in. The better part of the visit was the nurse. She came in and listened to the case, past history, current situations, wrote detailed information and was comforting and sweet. and reassured me we'd find answers. Then the 'doctor' came in and things changed drastically. Through my losses & intense visit; I thought the bedside manner would be kind and gentle. She made me retell and relive every loss over again with no emotion, empathy, resources, or kindness offered. Considering their motto, I thought maybe a resource of assurance would be offered. She was cold, distant, bored, and detached. I asked for help figuring out underlying causes and showed proof of my losses. I was made to feel like I was a liar or doing something wrong and she was dismissive of every test or question I had. She then questioned my autism and whether my diagnosis was real and who my doctors were. She quite literally slumped in her chair as if she was bored. Her only offer throughout the time was birth control. I understand preventative, but I'm here because something is wrong and I want to know the causes. "well there's this other birth control". She offered nothing but birth control, while I went through my calendar giving detailed timelines of experiences and side effects. I believe she only agreed to the labs because I openly became disinterested in talking to her and began packing my things once she mentioned a different type of birth control. She finally ordered labs, after fighting for them. Also, she kept reiterating how hard it would be for me to get real answers especially without insurance. "All the tests are expensive and they don't have real answers". I am poor, I do not have insurance, I still deserve to have my health taken care of. It would be different if I'm seeking ways to become pregnant, but there is something wrong, my body is destroying fetus'. Somewhere run by women taking care of women in this time.. just a shame on her as a person. then I had to wait two hours at a separate lab 10 minutes away because they couldn't even be bothered to do it themselves. Maybe that part is policy but after the treatment from this "doctor", icing on the cake. I wasted $250, 5 hours, and an evening of fun because she made me feel so horrible I couldn't leave my couch. -90/10

I chose the midwives because their practice aligns with my values and care preferences. I drive over an hour from Dolores just to see them! It was important for me to have an option of a safe VBAC and this is the best in the Four Corners! Even with covid conditions, their level of care and understanding that this is a family process remains strong. We call my husband at every appointment so he can feel part of the process. Even my 3 year old participates. I'm so glad we had this option for our growing family!
