My son had the worst and most painful experience of his life due to the sub standard expertise and quality of the work at Sage Dental in Midtown. They misdiagnosed his problem then butchered his mouth causing level 11 pain for weeks. He had to spend thousands with a reputable dentist to fix the mistake and original problem which was a cracked tooth. Sage promised to return the thousands he paid in advance for the procedure. BEWARE with Sage Dental.. Poor service. Confirm everything in writing. Save yourself the hassle. I scheduled my appt only for a routine cleaning on my initial call with Jania at the call center. It took nearly 30 min to do. I was very clear that I only needed a cleaning. She sent me to the Midtown office on 12/31/25 at 9:30A. The office isn't near me, but I needed my cleaning before year-end. I received multiple text & email reminders reflecting the time. Upon arrival, I waited over an hour past my appt time before being seen. I asked several times about the delay. I had a full schedule for the day. Eventually, Jonathan, dental tech, called me back & told me my appt was actually at 10:30A This contradicted my confirmations. He also said that a doctor had called out, which was the real issue. Jonathan took numerous X-rays, more than I've ever had for a routine appt. Our interaction felt rushed, uncomfortable & almost resulted in me vomiting. I had to completely remove the apparatus from my mouth to gather myself as to not be sick. Jonathan has the stature of a linebacker & his hands are very big. Dr. Patel came in for my exam. After putting on his gloves, he took his gloved hand & placed it in the seat of the chair to draw the chair closer to him to sit down. He sat & proceeded to start my exam. He was still gloved. I called immediate attention to him, putting his hand in the chair seat with his gloves on & that not being sanitary. Dr. Patel was emphatic telling me that everything in the room gets wiped down. After having waited an hour to be seen, been told they're a doctor short & told my appt. had three varying times (9:30, 10 & 10:30), there was no way my common sense would allow me to believe there was cleanliness & sterility in the seat of a chair. With all of the mishaps that I already endured at Sage Dental on my very first appt, I couldn't rely on them to trust there was no fecal matter, which is commonly found on places people sit, in that chair, making me comfortable enough for the doctor to place his gloved hand in a chair, pull it towards him, sit on it & then proceed to examine me with those same NASTY gloves. I wasn't going to volunteer as tribute to unsanitary service & shame on Dr. Patel for those poor practices & subsequent excuses. I raised the sanitation concern & requested that Dr. Patel change his gloves. While he did comply, this shouldn't be something that a patient has to ask for. During my exam, Dr. Patel discussed other services, including orthodontics, which I declined. I reiterated that I was only there for a cleaning, making it very clear.. After two hours, Dr. Patel informed me that it's "not customary" to receive a cleaning the same day & that I didn't have an appt for one. This was extremely deceptive, as it directly contradicted what I was told during scheduling & the sole reason I was there. I went to Janay, the office mgr., who stated that I wasn't scheduled for a cleaning & placed blame on the call ctr. After leaving, I called SD's call ctr & spoke to Bree, who refused to provide the name of the scheduler. I found her name in my notes. I later called again & spoke with Jennifer, the New Pat. Sup. Ctr. Supervisor . She checked the records & clearly confirmed that my appt DID include a teeth cleaning. She was the only person who was professional & accountable through this process. She advised me to contact Pat & Qual Assur. I left a VM. Instead of receiving a call, I got an email from Monica Hewitt-Bourn, Pat & Quali Assur. Coordinator, asking that contact be made in writing, hence this review. After many tries, no resolution or accountability followed. This visit highlights serious communication, scheduling, sanitary & customer service failures between Sage Dental's call ctr, office staff & mgmnt. I never received the teeth cleaning that I came for, yet time was spent on exams & X-rays that me nor the doctor asked for. I don't want to pay for this appt because I didn't get the cleaning I came for. Horrible experience, I will not return & can't EVER recommend Sage Dental. read more

I've been to three different Sage Dental offices: Tucker, Atlanta and Midtown. All three are consistently awesome - that means great service, friendly and helpful employees, and very clean locations! Also love their branding, easy to see and always nice on the phone too for scheduling appointments (which can also be done online, nicely designed website). The dental team from the front desk to the dentists/assistants/etc have all been professional and with a great doctor/patient "bedside" manner. While doing dental work, they always check in and ask if everything is ok, and I feel comfortable and safe in their expert hands. This place is a scam. Prepare yourself to spend several hours in the office and to be sold treatments for issues you don't have. Sage Dental was acquired by a private equity firm back in 2012 and it's super obvious that they're squeezing this place for cash at the expense of patients. I was there for a regular checkup and cleaning and spent over two hours in the office. The dentist mentioned my teeth were healthy but when it came time to do the cleaning, the assistant said I have gingivitis. She tried to upsell me on over $100 of special cleaning for gingivitis, saying if I didn't buy it, the cleaning would be painful. I didn't end up purchasing it, but got a ton of pushback from both the assistant and the receptionist. They were both very aggressive in trying to get me to sign for procedures that I didn't agree to pay for and didn't want. Recently went to another doctor for a second opinion and he confirmed I don't have gingivitis. Seems to me like they're making up fake diagnoses as a cash grab. Generally reviews for dentist's offices are dismal because let's face it, nobody likes going to the dentist. For that reason, I ignored the negative reviews and took a chance on this office. I'm sorry I did. Keep looking for a new dentist if you're looking. Here's my experience: (1) Nobody at the front desk was eating food, which was a frequent point of other reviews. (2) I can echo the accolades for Dr. Michelle Lee. She gave me a brief exam and seemed to be kind and enthusiastic. (3) The reason I will not return to the office is because of my experience with the hygienist, Patty. After my exam by the dentist, I overheard staff talking that I couldn't be seen by the hygienist that was readily available because Patty had missed appointments earlier in the day (perhaps a quota needs to be met). After waiting for Patty to become available, she told me that she "liked to" do extra things, including fluoride, an anti-inflammatory rinse after the cleaning, and an oral cancer exam. These services would come with the combined fee of $74 and I declined them when Patty referred me to the front desk staff. Fluoride is of course a standard add-on at the dentist's office, but if I needed an anti-inflammatory rinse, the dentist would have prescribed it. It's Chlorhexidine. They would not schedule me for a cleaning after my initial exam on Monday, so I had to return on another day for another appointment. They of course wanted to book me for the morning of the next day, which makes me think that they can collect more from the insurance company by spacing out the visits. I returned today (Thursday) for my cleaning, which was the shortest one of my life. Patty took me back at 3:12 pm and wanted to schedule my 6-month visit at 3:25 pm. Now, I'm all for efficiency, but I'm there for an actual teeth cleaning, not to check the box that I got my teeth cleaned. During the "cleaning" Patty did use the dental tool to remove plaque from my teeth, she did buff/polish, and she did floss. However, she poked my gums with the tool, at times barely grazed my teeth with the polisher, and went straight down into my gums with the floss. I have an implant. She didn't floss under it. Perhaps she's a terrible hygienist. Perhaps she was angry I opted out of the additional services (which she pushed again at the beginning of my appointment, and I declined for a second time). I think I needed the anti-inflammatory rinse *as a result of* her "cleaning." After my appointment I asked to speak with the dentist and after waiting a few minutes, was told that the dentist had left for the day. I would have given this feedback to Dr. Lee, but instead am submitting it here. Now, I'm off to find a new dentist. Good luck finding yours. Skip this place. read more

I came to Yelp before going to Sage Dental Midtown and I should have trusted the reviews. It was not a good experience. From the lengthy wait time to be seen, to the terrible experience with X-Rays. There were two coworkers fighting the entire time over who would help me, which was extremely unprofessional. Then when it came to the exam there was no sense of sincerity or actually wanting to help the patient. They would not even do the cleaning on the same day, you had to schedule that for another time. I am writing this review in the hopes that Sage Dental will tighten up whatever is causing patient scheduling issues. After checking in for my first visit, a patient came in and attempted to check in as I waited in the front area. But the person behind the desk told her they couldn't see her because her hygienist was not in. The patient had her double check her phone number, stating "Because I didn't receive a call or text about this." The worker read her the phone number on file and the patient confirmed it was correct. I was called back. I was fitted for a night guard to prevent teeth grinding. The young lady said, "It will take about two weeks for the night guard to come in, but we will call you if it comes in sooner." The hygienist examined my teeth and explained that I would need scaling done over two visits: the first to clean the right side and the second to clean the left. When I checked out, the worker scheduled my first cleaning for the next day. I went in the next day and had the right side cleaned. When I checked out, the worker scheduled my second cleaning (at least this is what I thought and what it should have been) for just over three weeks later. When I went in for the 2nd cleaning, they gave me my night guard. I said that I was actually there for my 2nd cleaning. Turns out that I was not on the schedule for my 2nd cleaning. It's reasonable to assume that scheduling for picking up my night guard should have happened upon checking out after getting fitted for my night guard, not after my first cleaning. And my 2nd cleaning should have been scheduled upon checking out after my first cleaning. When I went in for the rescheduled second cleaning, a customer attempted to check in. He said, "You all are so disorganized here. I've had three appointments, and there's been an issue with all of them." He said, "I'll find another place," before leaving. Fortunately, I work close by. But I hope they clean this up. Everything else is great. The staff is courteous, friendly, and conversational. And the facility is clean and modern. read more

New patient here. I had an appointment scheduled today and thought this location may be closed due to snow and icy roads. Much of Atlanta tends to close when this occurs. I tried calling the location but got someone at their call center who couldn't completely confirm if they were open or not. One of the agents couldn't get ahold of the office so said it appears they're closed. There should be an automated message for closures/cancelled appointments as this is horrendous customer service. I get weather happens but at least inform call centers or send an email/text to patients with scheduled appointments. The only reason I am this upset because they claim if you cancel or don't show up for an appointment with less than a 48 hour notice you will still be charged. recently received a parking ticket for over 100$. Even though, I scanned the barcode in the office. When I called, I was informed that there was nothing that can be done and the employees and other customers were receiving tickets as well. This is ridiculous. I had my tooth pulled this past Friday by Dr. Angela Chang she completely disregarded my pain level and did not give me the proper advice on how to move forward with the extraction of my tooth. She was extremely insensitive show no compassion or care and remove my tooth knowing it wasn't supposed to be removed with the type of infection that I had and proceeded to remove it, causing me to be an excruciating pain. I believe Sage Dental engages in predatory malpractice for profit. In my most recent appointment - a simple cleaning - I was first quoted $500 in unnecessary treatments; when I asked for only what was "medically necessary" the team quoted me for $360, which included $27 for "IOrinse Mint," then was charged $24 four times - apparently once for each quadrant of my mouth - for "P.IORINS2." I now understand "IOrinse Mint" is simply as mouthwash, and what I was charged a total of $125 for as an "absolutely necessary" service was having mouthwash squirted into the four parts of my mouth. I was charged $55 four times, for a total of $220 for "Arestin -One Additional Carpule per tooth." Upon research and seeking a second and third professional opinion, as well as legal advice, it is now clear to be that Arestin is an over-prescribed and highly profitable treatment, for which there are lower-cost effective alternatives. read more

I should have followed the reviews. I am so disappointed with Sage Dental of Midtown Atlanta. My first visit was July 14th. I was seen by Dr. Racquel Vaughn and the hygienist, both very pleasant, professional, and friendly. Then on 07/26, I received a call from Dr. Vaughn. I was out of the country then. Upon returning, I contacted her and provided her with the requested information from my previous dentist. I had an appointment for August 11th to follow up with the recommended services. The day before the appointment, the office called to cancel the appointment saying they had not received the necessary materials for the work. I had no idea what that was. However, I doubted that was true. The caller said she would call me back to reschedule the appointment. Also, on 08/30, I received an email stating they had a problem contacting me. Not true. They have my email address on file too. I've contacted Sage Dental several times and have left my 2 contact phone numbers. I called those people on 08/10/ 08/30, and 09/01, and left voice messages each time. Fast forward to October, and those folks have not had the courtesy to return my phone calls to move forward with their recommended treatment plan. Mind you, the work is not pro bono. Establishments want your business. However, when granted, many times they fail to deliver. Based on my experience, I definitely do not recommend anyone to them and I will certainly follow up with corporate. I'm not waiting or calling anymore. I'm done with them. read more

I spent $1200 on crown and was placed with a dentist, Dr. Vaughn and her assistant, Jasmine(?) The assistant did not know what she was doing. To her credit, I believe she was training. Although, the office manager said she wasn't training. Any dentist assistant that I have had working on me in the past didn't CONTINUOUSLY need instruction. I asked the office manager to never put me with anyone in training again, on my way out of the office when I left from getting my temporary put in. She, I guess was acting or just placating me, when she said she understood and nodded. I returned to get my permanent crown and was placed with the same assistant. She broke the temp, trying to take it out of my mouth, then hit something in my mouth with the metal clamps that sent a shock through my exposed tooth. I was clearly upset. So, she went and got Dr. Vaughn, who instead of taking over and doing it herself to make me even the littlest more comfortable, she numbs me, tells the assistant to continue, with more instructions and walks away. She could see I was very clearly upset, yet was more concerned with her assistant learning, despite me. I complained to the office manager, who basically argued with me, that I was wrong and what did I want her to do. I told her I shouldn't have to pay the full amount, I wouldn't be returning and wanted to speak with her superior. She wouldn't give me the Director's telephone number and said she would have her contact me. This ENTIRE situation shouldn't have happened. It's extremely unprofessional and the absolute last thing you want from someone working in your mouth. I'm actually contemplating speaking to an attorney to see there's anything that can be done. The address advertised during the appointment scheduling process and all of the reminder emails brings you to Peachtree street when the actual office entrance is located on Crescent Ave.... As a first time patient you would think that they would inform you of this when making the appointment so you're not wandering around an entire block looking for an office. After arriving for my appointment and not being able to find the office I called to no avail. The phone number just redirects you to offsite agents...I had to go into a physicians office (thats actually located at the advertised address on Peachtree) and ask them how to get to Sage dental and I was then given the correct directions. My appointment was set for 3pm and after the madness to find parking and the actual entrance to the building I arrived at 3:14. Im greeted by a woman snacking on her lunch who so happily states "we have a 10 minute grace period so we'll have to reschedule you" I was 4 minutes past their grace period due to THEIR lack of responsibility to let a new patient know the entrance to their office IS NOT actually on Peachtree..... After asking for an office manager, the other front desk attendant sitting beside her decides to respond with her back towards me with "im the office manager" as if she didn't overhear my frustration...now she decides to join in on the conversation to say "it's not our fault. The address is the address and the offsite team is the one who schedules the appointments not us...." you can tell by her lack of empathy for the situation and her continuous eye rolling as I'm speaking that this problem isn't uncommon for them. I let her know it's a bit ridiculous to reschedule my appointment for being 4 minutes outside of your grace period when the cause of this is the lack of communication and clarity on their end. She continued by let me know she didn't agree and "we need to respect the DR's time"... How about you start respecting the patients time because all of this would have been avoided had you simply given instructions on how to locate the office with such a misleading address. was told by a hygienist that I had serious periodontal disease and 3 cavities, and now that they have the periodontal disease documented, they could not do a regular cleaning, it had to be a special 2-part periodontal cleaning. saw an actual dentist for 30 seconds. they tried to upsell me on $56 mouthwash. Also they told me my cavities weren't covered by my insurance at the typical rate so I owed them more money for the procedure. All in, I needed $2400 in dental work. And this was after I declined anything "not covered by my insurance" and was met with a hostile attitude by the hygienist/saleswoman. Previously they had billed my insurance for excessive "hygiene advice" that was ultimately tossed out but was an additional $300 out of pocket. got a second opinion from an actual periodontist who told me I did NOT have periodontal disease and a dentist who told me I did NOT have cavities, and called my insurance company who told me had I actually had cavities, they would have been covered at the typical rate. When I was able to leave a message they didn't call back. I have never received an appointment confirmation email, and once arrived and they said I didn't have an appointment. I asked them to confirm my email address and still I didn't get a confirmation (hence the need for all the aforementioned phone calls). I even tried to call another location just to speak with anyone...and they didn't answer either. When they treat you, they don't communicate what's going on or send you home with instructions. Remarkably terrible dentist that engages in predatory behavior. They won't acknowledge or coordinate the receipt of x-rays from prior dentists (their "customer service" people admit that it is "not standard practice to ask for x-rays...we just assume you need them.") So they run new x-rays even though you've given them information to coordinate the receipt of x-rays from another office. Then you're on the hook because typical dental insurance will not pay for x-rays but every 5 years. They have all these dumb gadgets. A special x-ray machine that incurs an up charge. A ridiculous blue light to check for tongue cancer. Up charge. Fluoride stuff they paint on your teeth. Up charge. And the hygienist goes through things and just jams an iPad in your lap and says sign here and so you do because you think they've got your interests in mind. But they just want to gouge you for everything. If you decide to use this hack shop, then please do so with a healthy amount of scrutiny. They will try to up charge you every chance they can. This corporate dental office has such high turnover that in 5 years they've changed dentists 3 times and I've never seen the same hygienist twice. 6 months ago, the hygienist said my gums were healthy, measuring 2s and 3s. This month, the new hygienist said I had deep pockets in my gums measuring 5s and 6s. She and the new dentist recommended a $900 treatment plan (with insurance) for a filling, deep cleaning, and 8 doses of Arestin. I went to Dr. Greene at Fabulous Smiles for a second opinion. She said my teeth and gums were healthy, no cavities, and all I needed was a standard cleaning for a $10 copay. Sage will also try to upsell you on an oral cancer screening. Dr. Chang said she saw something in my throat that needed to be checked by an oral surgeon. For weeks I was terrified that I might have cancer, so I visited an oral surgeon who's not affiliated with Sage. She told me that not only did she not see any cause for concern but that she didn't trust dental office cancer screenings. read more

I went to my first appointment, which I thought was going to be the cleaning, just to find out that I would take x rays and be reschedule for a cleaning. That was fine. I understand. Different from what I am use to but whatever. The problem came when they were suppose to reach out to my insurance and then reschedule. I called back 5 times to see what the problem was. I was told that my insurance wasn't responding. My insurance said that a claim was never filed. I reported this to sage numerous times and nothing was every done about this. Mistakenly selected the wrong insurance and couldn't go to my regular dentist for a year and tried Sage Dental of Midtown about a year ago. Big mistake. They wanted to charge around $600 for a deep cleaning, anesthesia and dental tray over and above my insurance. They wouldn't do just a regular cleaning saying that I needed a deep cleaning. I should of looked at the reviews before I made an appointment at this office. The periodontist Dr. Yassin is GREAT, however, the staff at this location is TERRIBLE!!!
