It is actually in a house and I think maybe people live there. I'm not 100% sure. The main area has a kitchen and a small area for dine-in. We weren't able to dine in because of all that is going on though. I was surprised to see from other reviews that this place has been open for over a year because I've never heard of it! It's very close to our house too. I had the jerk chicken dinner and it was awesome. The portion was huge and I was full afterwards. Perfectly spicy and generally delicious. The rice was a wonderful accompaniment too. Probably the best jerk chicken I've had in a while. I didn't try my girlfriend's vegetable curry, but she seemed to really like it. I also met Keno who hooked me up with some free coconut water when he found out I was hungover. That is great customer service if you ask me!

I understand why another review was disappointed about the roti. The goat curry wasn't wrapped inside the roti which most Caribbean restaurants do. However, I didn't even bother when the curry wasn't wrapped inside the roti. I actually prefer not to be wrapped as the goat has bones. Although both goat curry and oxtail stew were fell off the bone. I was actually chewing the bones as the bones were so so tender. Today (August 18, 2019) is 1 year anniversary of Sunset Reggae Kitchen. They also have 1 year anniversary giveaway that will be drawn on August 23. So head to their instagram account @sunset_reggae_kitchen_official to participate. My boyfriend and I tried their foods for the first time today. As we walked in, we were happy to see the crowds (mostly Jamaican descendants) inside . Not only friendly customers but Beaverly, the owner was really nice. Btw, we knew nothing about the giveaway draw until we sat down and started talking with the people inside. One customer was talking with my bf and reassured that this place has the best Jamaican foods in town as he goes to Jamaica once a year. So, we ordered 2 meat combo (goat curry and oxtail stew) and goat curry roti. The goat curry taste was surprised me! Tasted very similar to Indonesian goat curry that I used to have back home. The oxtail stew had a hint of pimento (all spice) which is very common to be used in Jamaican cooking. All I can say, Beaverly cooked the foods from her heart. There is love in each food that she cooks. I'm looking forward to try their fish dishes as they have to be pre-ordered.

First of all the ambiance isn't as bright and cheery and it was cold to eat inside. I get it that most people come here to take out, but your restaurant should be comfortable to sit and eat in. Service was indifferent. They didn't really act happy that we were coming in. Place has the usual Jamaican food - curries, jerk meat, rice and peas etc. I ordered the curried goat. So the flavaour of the curry was good but they were really skimpy on the meat and they put on too much peas and rice which was dry. My friend had the jerk chicken but she left most of her rice as well. Prices were high for the amount of meat you have. I will have to try another Jamaican restaurant in the area to compare. I don't think I will be coming back here.

Even at full price (which I think was 16 bucks) is still great value. The menu is fairly standard for a Jamaican restaurant - jerk chicken, pulled pork, some salads, and a fish meal. However it is done properly. My chicken was tender and juicy, and full of flavour. They did not skimp on the sauce. It came with rice and beans which were hearty and cooked properly and a crunchy coleslaw. On Saturdays they have oxtail which i would like to try. They also have hot sauce for sale and jerk sauce which I took both of them home with me. Service was great. Person behind the counter was super friendly. Pretty minimalist in atmosphere, but clean and welcoming. I will come here again.

Owner (a couple) has a stand at Old Strathcona Famers' Market that is selling Caribbean hot sauce style but they opened up a Caribbean food stand in addition to their hot sauce stand. So far I have tried 2 different dishes; Ackee & Saltfish and Oxtail Stew. Both dishes were really good. It was my first time to try Ackee. Quite interesting fruit but it was good. Ackee is a fruit of the Sapindaceae soapberry family, as are the lychee and the longan. Since I grew up with saltfish, it was lovely to have it again after so long I didn't have it. The oxtail was so flavourful and tender. The rice that company the oxtail was really yummy. With a beautiful set-up of food court of Bountiful Farmers' Market, I think this little booth give a nice vibe to its market.
