Second attempt at this review since my draft magically disappeared. While on vacation for the holidays, we decided to go out for dinner on Christmas Day. We called ahead to ensure they were open and ask their hours and decided to make a reservation for 7 people. When we arrived, the host nearly turned us away because whoever answered the phone didn't communicate with her. Mind you, there were only 2 tables dining. After waiting about 15 minutes she finally decided we could be seated. Not sure who answered the phone since she was the only one there outside of the kitchen. While I appreciated her rushing through and explaining the menu, the whole experience went down from there. I never got my drink, and everyone else's drinks came out after appetizers and entrees. We had to wait or flag her down when we needed something. We received an extra chicken pakora which she stated was "on the house" but she still charged us for the extra app and my never-received lemonade. I like that the butter chicken was thick however the chicken tikka masala was quite oily. Some pieces of the naan were quite charred. When it was time to pack our leftovers, we were only handed styrofoam containers. Needless to say, the curry was seeping out the sides before even paying the bill. Our to-go mango lassi was also much smaller than the ones that were served at the table. Edit: we also ordered a tikka masala to go which was packed in a plastic container. So unsure why they were not able to provide them for our leftovers. Based on the service and inconsistencies, I cannot recommend this restaurant. We got eye rolls for asking about items that were not yet received. It was very clear that she was over the night as she had expressed how busy it was the night before. Even stating she would stop answering the phone even though they weren't closing for a couple of hours. Knowing they were one of the few restaurants opened for a major holiday, in a tourist town, AND considering how busy they were the night before, I really hope there are lessons learned on staffing appropriately or even choosing between online orders or dine in guests. read more

Been maybe five years, but I decided to go back for the weekend buffet. Was disappointed to discover that they no longer have the buffet, but decided to stay. Started with the Tomato Soup. It was so good.... I ended up ordering another one to go! The onion Naan was a little lacking in flavor, but the Palak Masala more than made up for it! First and last time eating here. I love Indian food and have tried a lot of different dishes but today I came to Saffron in Clermont and was severely disappointed for a few main reasons. I do believe the restaurant could have potential, hence it not being a complete one star review but we ordered a chicken 65 appetizer along with a lamb curry as a main course and garlic naan. The chicken 65 came out first and upon taking my first bite it tasted great but as I cut into my third piece I noticed it was undercooked and raw in the middle so I politely returned said dish. Lamb korma came out and was really tasty and the waiter was polite in offering us to remake the chicken 65 to which I politely declined. Upon finishing our meal we did decide to order a lamb curry to go and the waiter mentioned that he took the liberty to make us a chicken 65 to go as well at no charge, however at time of checkout (while I unfortunately threw up in the bathroom) I came to find out that he still charged my wife for the chicken 65 that we had not requested to get once the undercooked food had been returned. So in summary, place has potential and good spices in the food but overall experience was highly disappointing due to the raw food experience, over promising and on perceived customer service but under delivering and being straight up deceitful. I ordered chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken via DoorDash. The tikka masala was ok. The chicken was fresh but the sauce was a bit spicy. The tandoori on the other hand was just plain awful. It was so very stale, I am guessing about two weeks old. I would never feed it to my pet. Seems they just took it out of the fridge and warmed it up. It is so disgusting to serve someone such food. How can someone be ok with that? How can you be proud of it? Please stay away from ordering here. read more

Excellent service, and by far the best Indian food I've ever had! This restaurant has an eclectic style that runs throughout the restaurant without the the occasional unnecessary trinkets invading. The menu features old world favorites seldom seem on modern menus for an Indian restaurant. Try any one of the lamb dishes! They will not fail! All dishes are well balanced in spices without over powering the palate. We bought and tried two breads, two rice dishes, the meat dishes and none failed to meet my standards! I am an Indian and new in Orlando. So I am trying Indian restaurants in the area. This one by far is the worst of the five I have tried so far. We ordered for 4 adults and 3 kids. We spent almost $150. Their food was all very bland in spite of selecting "very spicy". Their Naan is an abomination. Most people can make better Naan at home from a recipe. Gravy in butter chicken, and palak paneer was bland and watery. The two biryanis we ordered were bland and yogurt that came with them was sour and watered down. Mango lassi was less thicker than usual but not bad. Masala chili paneer was above average. Rasmalai was decent. read more

Food is AMAZING. Over the last year I've tried more than half the items on the menu at this point and neither the food nor the service has disappointed yet. I'm a big eater and the servings have always been more than enough, on top of being delicious and absolutely packed with flavor. Chicken tandoori carry out was rotten. The restaurant sold us bad food. I cannot believe how bad the food was. One bite and it was all smelly. Having eaten Indian food all my life and many many restaurants by far this was the bad experience I ever had. I just threw the whole meal. Will now go back and recommend anyone to this restaurant. We stopped here on a whim after spending some time in Kissimmee. I've had some pretty bad Indian food when I lived in Pennsylvania, so I tried to stay optimistic and hope this place would turn out to be decent. The velvet curtains in the window gave a weird vine and weren't super welcoming. We almost turned around. But, we walked in checked out the menu and buffet and decided to have lunch. The buffet was very clean. My family ate off of the buffet and noted that the butter chicken was amazing. I opted for Biryani off of the menu with veggies as my protein. Each dish can be modified to include different meats or vegetables. I was super happy with my choice! I actually managed to eat 3 meals off of it including my left overs, so the helping was huge. Should have taken that as a sign that the chefs would probably be equally disinterested in delivering high quality food. I ordered the channa aloo and dal maharani, both extra spicy. Neither had even a whisper of spice. Both were oddly watery and underwhelming flavor wise. The portions were also surprisingly small for the price. For our main meal we had tandoori chicken, butter naan and yellow dal. The chicken was flavorful and moist. The dal was absolutely delicious. Service was exceptional. In town and wanted Indian. The reviews were hit or miss but it was close and they delivered. We got garlic naan and mango chicken curry and my husband got lamb coconut curry. He enjoyed his meal and my mom who also got lamb enjoyed hers. I, however, found it all to be bland. Like their was no depth to the sauce and it tasted almost watery? The garlic naan hardly had any garlic flavor. Tasted like plain naan. I need that garlic! This is an off season for tourists so Caban's Crossing in general was slow. We went into Saffron because we love Indian food. We had a really good attentive service. The food was very good. We had the Tandoori chicken hot, spicy and it was very good. We also had the coconut curry with lamb which was out of this world good. The service was good but COVID has hurt this restaurant's business. They do a good delivery business but restaurants dint make money on Uber eats and the like. Go in and dine, but if you can't then by all means order in. You won't be disappointed. read more

What a lovely evening. We drove over an hour specifically to try this restaurant out. When we arrived we noticed all of the other neat restaurants at Cagan's Crossing and decided we must come back as most had a 'People LOVE us on Yelp' sign - always a good 'sign' :P When we walked into Saffron we noticed that it was a bit darker than most restaurants but that is not always a bad thing, it actually gave the dining area a kind of ambience that suggested privacy was appreciated. It also hides some wear and tear issues that might otherwise be instantly obvious while the rest of the dining area had some lovely wine decorations on the walls. 31/2 out of 5 for decor. Yasmine greeted and took us to a booth at the window. I must interrupt here to add that Yasmine is the star of this establishment - how fortunate they are to have her as their 'front' person to make a first impression with and also to serve. With a million watt smile and a 'can do' attitude she really makes the dining experience very professional and yet warm and friendly. 5/5 for staff! The four of us had the standard Korma and tikka as we usually do at every new Indian we try. I didn't notice Garlic Naan or Peshawari Naan on the menu (but with the lighting and the coloured menus it was a bit hard to see) so I asked Yasmine and she grinned nodded and said 'sure' they could do them. Both chicken dishes were very good, very good flavor and light to average spicy. They do err on the side of caution which is nice for a change. Hubby had them add more spice to his which is not surprising, the rest of us were happy with ours. The Peshawari Naan needs to be addressed by itself as it is in a league by itself. Some restaurants will use that dreadful paste, thankfully Saffron did not. This was the type of Peshawari naan that I grew up on. Fresh slices of almonds, fresh juicy sultanas/ golden raisins etc etc- absolutely divine! 41/2 out of 5 on the food. Give Saffron a shot, I can't speak for the lunches or buffets but everything we tried from the evening menu we happily recommend and maybe you'll be fortunate enough to have Yasmine serve you as well. I was having a lazy Saturday and decided to give this new restaurant a shot and order delivery. The minimum for delivery is $30 which is kind of pricey for one person. And they do add on a $5 delivery fee. But, I decided to give it a shot anyway. I ordered the Beef Samosas and Chicken Pakora as appetizers. The Samosas were amazing! Full of flavor. Hot, fresh, flaky! The Chicken Pakora came with a Tamarind Chutney and a Cilantro Chutney. My preference was definitely the tamarind. Lightly breaded and fried pieces of chicken. Also a very good choice. As an entreé, I ordered the Chicken Tikka. I asked for it with medium spice, which gave it a nice kick! I found it was lacking chicken pieces, but nonetheless, was satisfied with flavor and freshness. One thing I do want to point out, the menu states that the Chicken Tikka is served with roti. It was not. Unfortunately, my delivery driver forgot my Chai Iced Tea, which he had to go back and get, so I made it a point to ask for him to bring the roti bread as well. I called the restaurant to ask if the bread was supposed to come with it and they said no, which I was surprised because the menu says it does. I guess just make sure you ask for it when ordering entreés. So worth it. The bread was also steaming hot and fresh when it arrived. As far as the Chai Tea, I've had better, but it was definitely a nice touch to finish up the meal. I'll be visiting again soon. read more

I was a tad disappointed with this restaurant today. Their door states that the lunch buffet opens at 11am, but when I arrived at 12:05pm I had to knock on the door because they weren't ready. One of the most recognizable entrees is Chicken Tikka Masala, which they did not have. When asked, they showed me the Butter Chicken and he stated it was the same thing, but it is not... Masala sauce is much thicker and perfect to dip the Nan bread into. Speaking of Nan, I will admit that it was delicious... very soft and hot out of the oven... but with no Masala sauce I couldn't enjoy it as much as I'd have liked. The Tandoori Chicken was tasty, but dry. This seemed odd because of how it was presented on the buffet, but it was dry nonetheless. To be honest this place was forgettable, and I didn't even bother to get second helpings. I would suggest skipping it. read more
