The variety is incredible! This season it seems like everyone catered with Saffron! The mini pumpkin pies, baklava, s'more bar, dark chocolate eclairs, profiterole, lemon bar were major highlights! Didn't have a good experience with the Oreo cheesecake, must have had an older one because it tasted a bit stale, dried out, and gelatinous filling. Please bring back the lemon coconut bar to its previous recipe. The baker has changed and ruined my favorite dessert in Charleston. It was amazing before now it has a weird texture and color. Please don't ruin one of my fav restaurants. read more

Last evening was my first time dining at this small yet very efficiently managed restaurant / bakery. The menu offers wonderful creations having a Mediterranean background. Soup of the day was superb and the desserts .... You just have to see them for yourself. Our server was wonderful and made our dinner very pleasant. I will return often. I wish to thank Saffron Bakery for not making an additional charge for my paying with a credit card. I've begun shunning restaurants that are unable to fold the minimal bank charges into their overall cost. Good job, SAFFRON. read more

This place can be hit and miss. On weekdays the service and food is quite good. On Fridays and at weekends the place clearly has insufficient staff and the cooked food can quite often be lukewarm when you get it. Buck up people........ read more

To keep it short and sweet, this place has amazing service, a delicious menu with a decently wide selection (I recommend the breakfast menu), and an amazing selection of fresh bakery items (you HAVE to get the strawberry shortcake). While I have my personal favorites, I really don't think you can go wrong here. read more

The food was good, unfortunately, the girl at the counter was not. Ate lunch and the waitress was great. Went in day before Christmas Eve, no one else was in their for baked goods at the time. 3 girls stood chitchatting, I only think one could see me, who was the one who was supposed to be helping me. She took her time then finally came over. She had no knowledge of the items she was selling. Working in the food service that is pretty scary. We asked her what was in one of the cakes she flipped her hand up and said I don't know. We had to say well can you find out? She came back and said they are chocolate. Another girl overheard her and came over, she said oh they are all VANILLA except for this once which is chocolate but they all have a jelly in them. Ok next item, do you have any deep dish apple pies left in the back? She ignored us, I had to say I am sorry we didn't hear what your answer was and she said"No". Ok next item, what is that bread over there with the white powder? Oh people love it, I haven't had it but it is just a plain bread with some powdered sugar on top... Christmas day comes, my mom cuts it and it is filled with fruitcake fruit! In the trash it went. Last cake, we asked what is this hazelnut one here? She said oh it is all chocolate with hazelnut. Cut it on Christmas.. no chocolate, it was all vanilla and had a hazelnut cream inside. It was good though. I can see why she may have made that error, because they did have pre cut slices that were chocolate and looked the same, but still. They had no more than 5 cakes in the case the day before Christmas Eve, Our fault for not preordering but how does she not know? I am curious to know what the one was with the chocolate covered strawberries, she told me that was all chocolate inside too. I didn't go with that thinking it might be too rich with the chocolate outside and chocolate strawberries, but if it wasn't really all chocolate inside I would have. Just a bad experience, I can understand stress around the holidays and being super busy, but we were the only ones there until we went to eat lunch at the table and even then it wasn't busy. read more

I elected to go to Saffron for Thanksgiving dinner. Buffet all you can eat, Macaroni was delicious, the rest wasn't so bad it was okay food as I did not want to cook. My surprise was when I got the bill; I was thinking maybe $17.00 per person...I was nowhere near, way too much money for what they had. This place has certainly changed in environment, the servers where not tidy looking; they were sitting at the counter eating and in between would check on the customers. Desserts looked delicious, I would recommend the desserts, but I did not try any, definitely not the restaurant. Disappointed read more

Yum! So good been for breakfast a few times. Fun place Went for dinner a little disappointing. I say stick to the breakfast menu and pasteries and you wont be disappointed. Sunday buffet runs about $13.95 a little pricey but entrees are good. read more
