Use it or lose it??!!…read more I know everybody that's a local. Turlock wants to support their Brick + Mortar grocery store that is family owned. But when you continuously get outdated boxed food or sour grape grapes or fruit that is rotten the money starts to add up that you spend here. I love this grocery store because the people are all very kind to you and you get used to seeing them. But they need someone to do quality control when they bring in the fruit and vegetables. One out of three times the fruit is rotten or un edible. Please people check dates on boxes and check the fruit before you buy it.

Fresh produce as well; not an over abundance but still some fresh produce and tofu! They carry tofu which was a delightful surprise when in the middle of a recipe and realizing your missing the main ingredient or planning a meal but doing so on a budget. There's a little bit of this and a little bit of that at this Grocery Outlet store located next to the Dollar Tree store and Planet Fitness Gym in Turlock but it's so well organized and we'll stocked and maintained that it's becoming one of my favorite stores. They sell live plants here as well as shoes and some boots which look similar to Bear Paws. Cosmetics and toiletries etc. I wasn't joking when I said earlier this store sells a little bit of this and that.

The people that work at the store are so nice. For a store that's called an outlet, I would not expect the employees because to be as nice as they are. On two separate occasions, I was looking for items that were not on the counter. One lady found me blue cheese in the back. The other guy looked around for okra, but they didn't have it. He didn't mention that they had it at one time. I love the giant avocados and mangoes. If you're a Stan state student or employee with an ID, you also get 10% off on Wednesdays. I like this little store. I always find something new. And I am treated like a valued customer.

Glad that another grocery store opened on the east side of town... competition is a good thing!…read moreLots of good deals to be found if you are a savvy shopper, but some items higher than can be bought elsewhere. Nice produce section. Would like to see their beer selection be on par with the other G.O. across town. Lots of check-out registers were available, hopefully that continues as the crowds slow down from their grand opening. Not a big fan of multiple food trucks taking up what is already limited spots in the parking lot. Again, hopefully they leave in a few weeks.

[Review #643] 2021 Yelp 100 Challenge (64/100)…read more I was visiting my aunt to celebrate her 91st birthday over Independence Day holiday weekend, & my cousin (her daughter) invited us to her place for BBQ on 07/04. They were also having their 2nd annual ribs competition so I needed to pick-up ribs & stuff to participate. O_o Luckily, I have an easy go-to brine that doesn't require much. I'm not too familiar with Turlock & there were a couple of grocery stores near her place, & choose Raley's (also recommended by my cousin). It was a pretty large market with a sizable parking lot. There were plenty of shopping carts lined up by the entrance but no sanitizing wipes, then I found some inside the market. :-) Either the customers are conscientious about returning the shopping carts to their collection points or the Raley's staff are on the ball for gathering the carts...because there were no stray carts, which means I don't have to worry about my car getting dented. :-O It was a huge relief being inside because it was hot, hot, hot in Turlock. Whew! The market is pretty well-stocked & organized, but I'm not used to it so it took me awhile to find the ingredients that I needed. Spareribs were on sale (yippee!!) as well as corn on a cob (5 for $1.00), & a few more ingredients for the brine: apple cider vinegar & bay leaves; my cousin had the rest of the spices so I didn't have to break the bank. The prices are mostly comparable to my local markets with some of our usual staples fared higher here. I liked that their produce looks fresh & are unbruised, & I don't see flies hovering over them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Our cashier was friendly & welcoming... she asked if we were going to watch the fireworks or if my kids will play with them (nope, they're still too little). I replied that I'm visiting so wasn't aware of any fireworks (it's banned in our area). I packed up everything, checked the receipt (got all the sale discounts but still a small chunk of my wallet), & was off. My ribs grilled without a hitch, though I didn't have enough time to brine it (only 12 hours instead of 24), & managed to tie for 2nd. Whoohoo!! =) Thanks Raley's for the quality meat & friendly service! If we're ever in the area, we'll definitely look for you to fulfill our grocery needs!
