I'm having problems with the low ratings I am seeing. I switched my pharmacy account to this Safeway two years ago from Walgreens because I was unhappy with Walgreen's shortage of pharmacists and cut back hours. I have been extremely pleased with this pharmacy. I am responsible for three family member's drugs and visit this pharmacy frequently. I have never had a rude person work with me. Most of their staff have been there a long time and very professional. When I was working on learning their systems they were very patient with me. The staff and pharmacists have bent over backwards making sure I had the medicines that I needed when I needed them. I think the reviewer from Dec 2025 is mistaking rude for busy and being focused. I have never seen this employee rude to anymore. She is always helpful even when they are very busy. read more

Every time I go to this pharmacy, the employees all look miserable. The blonde at the counter, SO rude every time! I keep telling myself that I am going to transfer my prescription elsewhere and never do it, but after my last experience, I have had it! I was waiting in line, the blonde employee must of just come back from break, she looks at me and says "I will take the next customer". As I was about to walk over to the counter, a lady walks right up, cutting in front of me, and this blonde employee went ahead and helped her! SO done with this place! read more

Just noting that this pharmacy is still so terrible and slow. I've moved onto greener pastures for my pharmaceutical needs, but my boundless empathy for the seven people waiting in line at 4 PM on a Thursday (all of whom looked like they had been waiting a long time and were about to lose their minds) compels me to let you all know that you shouldn't utilize this pharmacy unless you're cool with dying of old age waiting in line. read more

Came in at 7pm for a stat order fill for my newborn child. Was given a 20 minute wait time. When I approached the pharmacist after half an hour I was notified that the prescription had not even been started yet due to a late appointment for a vaccine. It is now almost an hour later an my sons prescription has not been started.. This location has been the only location I have had issues with communication with. I don't understand why they can't work on normal appointment hours. Will be switching locations after today. read more

I've been going here almost 5 years. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait more than a day for a prescription to be filled. Got my second Covis booster here - easy as eating Key Lime Pie, but not as much fun because - needle involved. Occasionally they are very busy and there's a line. That, my friends, is a First World Problem. We're spoiled. Chillax. Get over it. read more

I went in to pick up some prescriptions today. They have a program where if u get 5 prescriptions you can get a gift card. I am on medicare but get NO discount because of that on my prescriptions. I was told that because i was on state health care I was not eligible for a gift card. I explained that I pay full price for my prescriptions and that medicare isn't a state program but a federal program.They said they would call the manager. The manager said I wasn't eligible. I am not very happy and cancelled my prescriptions. I will go elsewhere from now on. read more

I have been to this pharmacy many times a year over the last twenty years and I am a bit skeptical about the ratings associated with the reviews here. Yes, can be short staffed and have long lines and I find it annoying that they have to close for the pharmacists lunch so you can't pick up your prescription BUT they have always been helpful and friendly and try to rush things if it an urgent need. I have had prescriptions moved from them when traveling, to them when returned home, moved to the mail order pharmacy when chronic need arose and always easy to work with. It isn't the largest pharmacy you will find but might be one of the most helpful! read more

My sister just released from Hospital and this pharmacy has been unreal! Picked up meds-missing 3 -called back and said we could pick up one of the most important prescriptions today-her husband goes to pick up and said there was no record of the other scripts that the Dr apt the hospital called in. We had a confirmed paper of the meds called in and has been a cluster. This also happened almost 2 years when my sister had esophageal cancer and had very important meds to pickup and they just could not get it right-took days to get what she needed. No sympathy-No empathy! No I'm sorry let me see if I can help track that down! I'm tired of we are short staffed-we are this we are that!!!These are peoples lives who are suffering unnecessarily! This Safeway needs to get it together! Family has switched to a new pharmacy and hope that no one else has to go through this! BEWARE YOUR HEATH IS AT RISK!!!! So I go in to get my flu shot today and because of my health I told them my doctor wants me to get the higher dose Flue vaccine which I get every year. I get in the room and ask to confirm what they were giving me. The pharmacist said, no your insurance won't pay. She was getting ready to give me the wrong vaccine! She said they checked with my insurance company and they only would pay for the regular one. I asked if they called my Insurance company and she said "Yes"! So I paid out of my pocket and went home and called my insurance company. My Insurance company said Safeway never ran it, only tried to run the regular vaccine and it would have been covered. And is covered. I went back to Safeway and finally got the truth. Safeway, didn't like the contract they signed with pricing with the Insurance companies on that vaccine so they are refusing to bill for it and only offer the lower standard dose. They called Safeways internal approval line, not my insurance company and Safeway is rejecting because they know they will get paid based on the contract price they signed with the insurance company. They don't want to honor the contract. They lied and are putting people at risk by trying to give the lower dose. If I wouldn't have stopped and confirmed what they were giving me they would have gave me the wrong vaccine. Don't use Safeway if your getting a vaccine. They will lie and give you the wrong vaccine because they don't like the contract price they negotiated with the insurance companies now. How many people have gotten the wrong vaccine because they refuse to honor their own contract and then try to justify by saying the Insurance won't approve it. They should be fined by the state of Washington!! What happens when someone at risk gets a wrong vaccine and dies? BEWARE! If you want to get protected use a different pharmacy then Safeway! read more

This place sucks. Call in a script and the voice message said it would be ready after 3. Two day later it still wasn't ready but was asked to wait. Picked up the med the next day and the following day got a voice message saying it was ready. Not sure if it's incompetence or stupidly or laziness. I told my partner go somewhere else. I called about a refill and was told that the refill would take a Minimum of three days. Begrudgingly I accepted. Today, my doctor had sent in two separate prescriptions, one of which was for a larger amount of the medication I had scheduled a refill for. I went in today to do a pickup and was told to wait about 20 minutes. When I returned 30+ minutes later I was told that only half of the prescription was complete and that it would at least be another 30 minutes. Luckily they had completed the second half as I was speaking with the employee. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection the prescription for a larger amount, mentioned above, was not fulfilled and instead they gave me the refill and only gave me a count of 9 instead of 30 of the prescribed medication, and this was the original refill, that they had somehow fulfilled today instead of doing the new script. Not impressed by any of my experience and plan on changing pharmacies. read more

Been going to this pharmacy (Safeway 162nd Ave) for about two years. Everyone I've dealt with has been helpful and knowledgeable. Whether providing thorough information on medication, knowing over-the-counter treatments for ailments, and even providing a discount card when insurance wouldn't cover a prescription, they've always offered something extra that I didn't even know to ask for. I went to the Safeway on Mill Plain and may as well have been speaking Esperanto, so I'll stick with this one. read more

Massively and chronically understaffed pharmacy - I am not sure who they think they are doing a favor by being there if they cannot afford to staff the place right. Bins of prescriptions to be filled are commonly stacked 3 high, and the staff is clearly stressed. We called to see if a prescription would be ready, and were told an hour to an hour and one half. We went 2 hours later, and had to stand there for 40 minutes. When we complained, there was no apology, but just a defensive "well we are busy." This is a management problem, and not a staff problem. They are bound to make a serious mistake at some point, and someone will be injured. When that happens, Safeway management needs to see jail time. I don't know why the pharmacists do not quit. I spend a LOT of grocery money in that store, and am forced to wonder where else they cut corners. There is a Walgreens across the street BTW...... read more

Terrible, even for a pharmacy in a store like this. I only went here to fill my prescription for a free gift card for filling a Rx the first time. It turned out that I had apparently filled one at a Safeway sometime many years ago, so I couldn't get the gift card. Of course, they couldn't tell me that until I went to pay at the very end. It took 45 minutes to fill my prescription, which is too long in my book for a medicine that would take Walgreen (across the street btw) 20 minutes to fill. The staff were RUDE! I walk up and tell the pharmacist I'm here to pick up my prescription and she just stares at me for a few seconds and then sarcastically says she's going to need more info than that. Well then, why didn't you ask me rather than stare like a dumby and make rude comments? Then some other lady took over and acted like she couldn't hear me say I was paying with a card as I'm plugging it in and punching in the numbers. She keeps asking me saying she can't hear me. Can't she see I'm paying with a card and trying to concentrate, hitting all the numbers on the keypad? This must be a pretty crappy place to work as a pharmacist. I guess they don't mind taking it out on their customers. Maybe they secretly wish the Safeway will close that pharmacy so they can move to a better location. I suggest you act like it's been closed already, and fill your script somewhere else! read more
