This Rite Aid is clearly a victim of the times. Shelves are sparse, entire aisles are empty, and…read moreproducts are extremely limited. But I visited this Rite Aid as I was visiting from out of town and needed to pick up some meds. I was able to get them at Rite Aid easiest, so I went there. The only redeeming quality that I personally experienced was the pharmacy counter. The gentleman I checked in with to get my prescription started was very friendly and attentive. He didn't have my meds filled and ready yet, but did a great job setting expectations for me. As I waited, I wandered the store in almost disbelief that my hometown Rite Aid was visibly struggling. My meds were ready to pickup within the time frame I was told they'd be ready within. So I paid for my meds to then bring my shopping basket up to the front to check out there. I used self checkout, but experienced a scale issue that required a staff member to assist. An older woman with dark hair came up to clear it out, but looked visibly annoyed with something. I couldn't tell if it was me, the self-checkout register, or whatever. But friendly, this person was not. As I left the store, I turned back to tell the employee, "thank you, and have a great rest of your day!" Honestly, I always say stuff like that just to be friendly. But I got nothing from that employee before or after I said it. So remember this Rite Aid management: Your staffed front counter person is the face of your store, setting the tone for anyone's shopping experience. If you don't like conducting business, put your surliest employee up front, which you succeeded in doing for my last visit. As I've lived out of the state for over 2 decades, I don't come to this store more than maybe once a year. So I do fear that this prior visit may have been my last. The Rite Aid down the street from my home in Burbank, CA closed its doors for good 6-months ago. I hope Gig Harbor's Rite Aid has the opportunity to turn itself around. As for their staff, they need to work on the customer experience more to inspire customers to return. Because, again, my own experience wasn't exactly filled with kittens and rainbows. It wasn't bad, but I did feel somewhat unwelcome.

The 72nd and Pac Ave Fred Meyer is the fastest pharmacy I've ever been to and everyone who works there is super friendly. I often get the text that my meds are ready before I even get home from the doctor. They have advocated for me and reached out to unresponsive doctors multiple times. Any problem I've had here has been insurance or doctor nonsense, and they reach out to me to let me know what's going on. Absolutely love this pharmacy.

As busy as they are sometimes, they keep a smile on their faces. They're attentive to their customers, and they work as a team. Because of social distancing, lines may look longer. If the folks at the counter are busy, I've seen the pharmacist jump on the counter to assist. I normally call the automated line to refill my prescriptions. Sometimes if i forget, and i head to the store to do my grocery shopping, I'll refill in person, then pick up before i leave. I've never had a pick up experience where my prescription was not ready on time. They stay true to time. There are also items available over the counter if you just ask. Flu shots are available as well. They kindly adhere to the covid safety measures by having plexiglass on their counters too. I say, if you're looking for reasonably priced prescriptions and excellent customer service, i highly recommend this location!
