We always shop at Safeway. Because of the current situation, we have been having our groceries delivered by another delivery service. We decided to try having Safeway deliver some groceries. It did cost less. It was a disaster. They said it would be delivered during a certain time period. Three hours later I called Safeway and talked to the dispatch, they hadn't even put in the order yet. The delivery was over five hours later than promised. With the service we have been using, we usually get the delivery within two hours or sooner. read more

Why is this store closing at night? This is not the first time either.... Over the last two months this Safeway has been repeatedly closed until 5am. And each time I ask employees why they're closing they say oh because our nighttime manager decided to. I've also gone in the next day and asked their employees why they were closed and they had no idea that the store was ever closed at night and why they were closing. There are multiple cars parked out in the parking lot as well. Multiple employees in the store that you can see through the doors. They need to realize either they change their hours permanently and not be open 24-7 or keep they hours they have now. They need to remember that they are the only 24 hour store that is open besides CVS. Frankly, CVS does not carry everything that you might need in an emergency. I've gone multiple times to Safeway during an emergency to find out that they were closed and not opening till 5:00am. I then had to wait till 5 am.... I understand once in a while, needing to close either during construction or the lack of employees but what I don't understand is that it's now becoming a regular inconvenience . read more

I shop at this Safeway all the time. For the most part it's a Pleasant place to shop. I had A few bad experiences with a cashier named Alla. She is mean and very rude!!! She tells you what you can and can't do. You need to stand exactly where she says and do everything she tells you!! If you ask people that shop at this store they try to avoid her at all costs. It's always a pain to get out of this store. They never have enough cashiers so lines are really long. I hope they do something about Alla. read more

I hate safeway. Everything is poorly arranged, their safeway products are pushed in your face, it is not easy to find other brands. I don't like their products. Their prices are not discount at all, I can buy things at my local high-end store for less--things like spaghetti sauce, jarred items...no discount there. If you like to coupon-buy or buy items on special, then safeway is worth a run. They do have nice floral arrangements, but Trader Joe is much less expensive for a bunch of nice roses. Customer service is the worst. I've been shopping at this location for 25+ years and it has really gone down hill. Staff is always complaining to each other in front of customers, checkers are rude and act as If you are interrupting their complaining. The rest rooms are disgustingly dirty, floors are always wet or flooded, and smells of urine. The only thing going for this location is the pharmacy, the staff in that department is great. read more

Everytime I come to this Safeway I always leave in a bad mood. You can easily tell the employees hate working here and they even reciprocate that mood onto you. I've never had so many customer service workers roll their eyes at me when I ask for help after the self checkout machine starts acting up. I work in customer service myself so I try very hard to be empathetic, but when you hate your job so much that you feel you need to take it out on the customers, it's a large sign that you should find a different job that makes you happier. This used to be a good Safeway to shop at. Its literally 3 blocks from home. For the past year it has gone downhill. The products I used to have no problem getting there...lol are now a problem apparently. They are consistently out of items not just around special events but on regular ol' weekdays also. I've had better luck at the Safeway on Sonoma Mtn pkwy. Anyway I'm done with this place and will be down the street at Raley's from now on. Good luck Safeway. I would not have thought to leave a review for Safeway at all, but it is starting to sock so bad I had to say something. It is a problem for businesses that only get negative reviews because no one ever thinks to leave something positive and maybe it's not just me and others feel the change after the move to Mervyns. 1. Store is a maze. I see others stumbling around like zombies after a long day and wonder if they are also afraid to navigate the produce section. The new layout is a TRAINWRECK. Ted Cruz keeps saying that word and I like the impact it has. Seriously, the layout is like a train of nice isles were in an accident. I would like to take exception to the pharmacy design and health isles and lighting. If I were ever to head to Safeway to buy bandages or a cream, it really is pleasant. 2. Products are limited. Seriously, no fresh broccoli today? Lots of normal vegetables missing and others are 3-5 dollars a pound! I eat a lot of veggies and paying 249 EVER for zucchini hurts. Clover products are disappearing and I see a lot of this or that on the shelves (This name-brand corn oil or Safeway Corn Oil). 3. More training, management and better working conditions including more staff on the floor, better pay and lots of training and supervision to keep the quality of staff. Today my groceries were dumped in the cart and several of the plastic bags were already ripped. Almost everything was loose so it went into the car in a pile in the trunk. Note to self: keep the reusable shopping bags in the car. 4. Just for everyone else but U: Check your receipt and go to customer service to get it resolved. I am big on coupons and can load up my card with my handheld and do so. I sync and check the list before I go into the store. Lately, I cannot sync in the store on their free Wi-Fi. I can turn off Wi-Fi and then it works on 4G. So when I did not get my 70 cent/gallon discount, I was not happy. 5. The good: meat counter products are pretty good as is the service. Just ask and if they have it, they will get it to you just the way you want it. The deli counter has pretty good generic cole slaw. The cheese selections are better than the past. The floral department is an island of sanity. Bakery is very good and affordable. Boston cream pies, cream puffs, bagels and even powdered, raspberry filled doughnuts are wonderful, but tray of cookies for five bucks is a welcome thing for my teenagers. Prices: Almost everything is less expensive anywhere. I don't have the spare cash to shop recklessly. My teenagers have friends so I can not afford to buy pounds of deli roast beast at any price So... I have a bad experience every time I shop I want the Just for U stuff to work and it would be worth fighting a minotaur in the produce section to get such mythical savings. I used to really like Safeway and I know there are some awesome staff there so I will probably go back, but I will check my receipt before leaving. I feel like giving zero stars due to my last experience, but to be honest, I did find some good in that new location. read more

Just stopped by the Starbucks to grab a coffee and breakfast sandwich. Rachel, the employee who was behind the counter, never greeted me, never smiled, never thanked me. She acted as if she was put out that I asked her for anything. The only thing she said to me was do you want anything else. As I waited for her to give me the coffee she went to pull she told me that I could pick up my order at the end of the counter, again no smile acted as if I had inconvenienced her. This Safeway is very large which is great. I also enjoy that they have tons of local items marked clearly. I'm a fan of their bulk bins as well. The not so great is this place is always crowded! No matter which I come it's crazy! The other complaint is the lines are out of this world. It seriously takes a good 5-10 minutes to be checked out. read more

I am sitting in my living room playing minecraft and I can hear a dog screaming and I wouldn't doubt that it's being abused or something. It could be from my barbecue though because I forgot to take the dogs out last night. Anyways every time I walk into that place, I smell a wet choney on a chip bag or something, like can I even walk in without being blasted by a excruciating aroma of the casual choney. And don't get me started on the bakery, last time I went in to get a free sample, they kicked me out because I took like 4 cookies, what else am I supposed to do eat 1. Like they taste good and all but only if you have 4 or more. Anyways what I'm trying to say is that the choney smell is probably from the wet dog beating in the back. read more

i love safeway. but this one has some of the rudest employees. they're too busy to help you w. anything. give you the biggest attitude when you ask them for the simplest things. then they give you an excuse as to why they can't help you. but when you turn around they're just standing there. the employees say things under their breath. but don't worry. if you confront them they run off because they're not ready for the confrontation. idk why you want to try to take your attitude out on me. i've worked in customer service. &&& am very respectful because i know how rude customers can be. but i reciprocate energy. &&& will not let anyone disrespect me for no reason. i wish i knew the woman's name i encountered. but she has a short brown bob. and wears glasses. she told me she didn't have an attitude w. me. but had been a bxxxssshhh to me all because i asked for something from behind the counter. this is my second bad experience w. this safeway. i shouldn't walk into a place happy. then leave in a bad mood because you hate your job. will i be back? they're other 24 hour safeways. read more

I tried to go to customer service and the person there appeared aggravated that I dared to to customer service because apparently it closed half an hour ago. Really good selection in the deli section, and they have fresh-made chinese as well. Check out times can be really long, but I usually use the self-service checkout and that seems to move pretty fast. Like the large parking lot especially during the busy times as it makes parking easier. read more

Safeway Pharmacy on McDowell is the best. I just switched over from another Pharmacy because Safeway is offering free delivery during these difficult times. I have filled 3 prescriptions so far and each time was easier than the last. I was treated very well; never rushed on the phone and always helpful. Just called for my B/P meds to be delivered and the price was higher than my other Pharmacy. Rudy took some time and came back with an exceptional price. I was thrilled and he was so friendly and personable. A pleasure to speak with. I think I found my new Pharmacy! read more

I don't know what I was thinking. I left the Safeway Pharmacy because of things like this that just happened: I usually get my prescriptions delivered through Alliance/Walgreen's and have no troubles. But I had just got a new prescription for eye drops and wanted to see if I could get them before I left on my trip on Thursday. So I went in on Sunday, where they said it wouldn't be a problem, they just had to contact my doctor because of an electronic signature. So come back on Tuesday afternoon and they would have it for me. Well, after waiting in line for a while, after 3:00 pm, they told me it wasn't ready and to wait 10-15 minutes and they would have it for me. Well, I waited my 15 minutes, got back in line, and waited. After looking around and talking to someone else, the pharmacist informed me they wouldn't be able to fill the prescription because they didn't have any. Wow! First someone told me no problem, then I'm told to wait and they would have it for me and so I waited even longer then they told me they couldn't do it. That speaks volumes about how organized they are. They don't have a clue what's going on there and I will NEVER use them again. They wasted enough of my time. read more

I've shopped at this store for years and the other reviews about employees and bad attitudes are right on the mark. This is a store that fills a tremendous need for the community. You can buy pretty much everything you need at this Safeway but be forewarned - your presence may be an inconvenience for some of the staff. That is it plain and simple - you are a bother to them. They have had the same attitudes for years so the pandemic is not to blame. When you have a question, concern, or need you'll have to wait for personal conversations to end, suffer through their whining about other customers, watch eyes roll and heads shake, and then you will rarely hear even a "thank you" from the clerk. The pandemic has brought out the worst in people but in my opinion with this store you get a mixed bag that COVID didn't create. The managers can be fantastic, some of the employees really go above and beyond, but unfortunately you'll also come across those other attitudes. When it happens - talk to the manager, fill out one of those comment cards, or contact corporate and be a squeaky wheel. There is really no excuse. read more

I'm not usually quick to criticize but, tonight was it... It was my grandson's Birthday. I went into Safeway to pick up a cake. There wasn't any employee insight. I called out "hello". I did get the attention of a lady. She came out to the counter. I asked her if she could please write Happy Birthday and my grandsons name on the cake please. She said "No", I said "excuse me", she said "no", "I'm not a baker or designer". I said, "I am asking you to pls. Write this on the cake, you do work in this department". She replied, "It's too small". By this time I'm furious .. I said "get a piece of plastic and writ it, then put it on the cake"... She finally did.. Looked like crap. She was so very rude.. My daughter went in last week for my granddaughters cake and the exact thing happened to her! A new employee is defiantly needed! read more
