I'm visiting from another state and needed a prescription to be transferred from another pharmacy. Linnsey and Leslie took good care of me both from being professional on the phone and in person. I was tired from traveling and lack of sleep along with being frustrated that 2 other pharmacies didn't have the prescription, and they were empathetic. I also had a problem at the self-check line, and the young man helped me with clipping the coupon I thought I clipped and coming up with a solution when I still wasn't able to get the discount - quick math skills too! The young man at Starbucks was also very helpful and chatty. I'm sorry to see that the rating is low, but hopefully that will improve. I had a great experience and would return. read more

For the life of me I can't remember the women's name however we came in on my mom's birthday to ask if Starbucks had done any freebies. The worker had told us it's usually on the app however my mom hadn't had the app for quite a while. This lovely worker was willing to make her a free drink anyways! I've been shopping at the monument safeway for nearly 30 years and can say it's the most well managed store anywhere in the state. Friendly service and helpful staff that always gets me what I need. I've never been treated better! Food is always fresh and the shelves and fruit are arranged perfectly every time. Please don't take my Safeway away. With the looming merger between Kroger and Albertson's, I just can't imagine how awful the lack of competition will be. I avoid the crazy rudeness at King Soopers to go to my friendly neighborhood Safeway. The store is always clean, well-stocked, and filled with friendly & helpful employees (with the very rare "don't bother me" exception). I love this place and the people who work here. It's a large very well stocked grocery store but the people who work here make it feel like the old small neighborhood grocery store. Everyone knows everyone. That may be a testament to Monument itself, but it flows over to the store. There's another store in town but it doesn't feel like Safeway. It's disconnected. They are doing renovations right now. They actually made the Starbucks better and expanding the seating area. The deli is pretty large. And the cheese selections is great. read more

Jessica in the Bakery has turned this place around. Her professionalism and attention to detail makes me so happy to go there get my bagels, request cakes, and all my needs. The products made and put out are fresh and if the best quality I have seen in the nine years I've lived in the area. Regular sales on most items, clean and well kept, great selection of everything you may need and amazing butchers that go out of their way to assist you and seem to love their job. I go to this location at least twice a week and despite two other grocery stores within as many miles, Safeway is my go to. Everything from imported meats and cheeses to truffle oil (trying to replicate Crave French fries) to weekly meat specials this location is a great stop. The best part about this particular location are the butchers. We tend to only get our meat from family Angus but, I won't pass up hand cut 1.5-2" thick steaks...when they are on sale. Hint, check when steaks are on sale and ask to cut two or more and they can give you value pack sale. Which takes more off the sale price... Seafood doesn't have the greatest presentation but, I feel pretty safe buying the Snow Crab which goes down to $7.99 once every week or so. Great location especially if you are stocking up to spend the weekend skiing! read more

There is a guy that works at night who cannot help at all if you have a problem with your receipt or the just 4 U not working. He absolutely cannot add and subtract. While I am standing there waiting for him to use his calculator I got out a pen and figured out the mistake on my receipt. Then, I tried to help him and of course he did not want my help and his calculations were wrong. He shuffles around the store in slow motion all the time. But, kudos to John and Kevin who helped in mere seconds with a problem. But, honestly why are their so many problems with pricing not working - Just 4 U coupons not working. Go into Safeway and fill up your cart. Take it to the register. Notice these things: Is the place vibrant? Are there a LOT of people in the store? Does there seem to be a good vibe? My experience: NO to all! The place feels ~dead~, like a graveyard, as does the entire area in Monument from Second Street to the Big O Tire store. The Safeway store never has very many people in it and they seem ashen, zombie-like, miserable, and dull. Then you get to the register. The cashiers are all very nice but they don't exude ANY enthusiasm! Compare to King Sooper on Baptist Road: That place is HOPPIN'! There is a vibrancy in the store, people are vigorously shopping and chatting, the cashiers for the most part are GLAD to see you and have conversation with you without slowing down the check-out process. Sign up for the savings program and you save a ton of money over time! Use your savings card to get CHEAP gas at Loaf 'n Jug on Northgate Parkway (or any other LnG location). The Store Director Bill Mcelroy made this my go to store! Don't get me wrong King Soopers is a cool spot too, but I've never had a manager go out of my way to take care of me like Bill did. Here's how. I had purchased some T-Bone steaks a few days ago on sale. Took em Home let them age a day in the fridge took them out to start prepping them for BBQ. As soon as I opened them up I immediately knew they were rancid! I called Safeway and told them I was going to take them back and wanted my money back and at right away they told me to come on down and they would take care of me. However on my way to do the return my wife reminded me that I got the steak from King Soopers not Safeway. So I called up Bill and told him I had made a mistake and was going to take it back to King Soopers. Bill insisted that if King Soopers didn't take care of me he would regardless of it being their mistake. Well kin Soopers did in fact take care of me with good customer service. So I called Bill and told him that I was all good and he insisted that he give me a tour of his meat department and informed me that he and Albertsons were the only Stores in the area that still hand cut their meat fresh by certified butchers. He also gave me a $25 gift card to try some of his Porterhouse steaks that were his favorites and gave me one of his personal recipes. Absolutely delicious meat! He was such a pleasure to work with and talk to that his friendship had earned my business! I enjoy the convenience and selection of the store and will be referring all of my BBQ meat needs to this store whenever I can help it! Thanks Bill! It's nice to know theirs still excellent store managers out there with all of the stress and pressure on retail store managers to manage so much inventory and different customer personalities! This morning, when people are stocking up before the storm that every Meteorologist is talking about, Safeway in Monument doesn't have enough checkers. They had 1. But this isn't new. When "3's a crowd" was announced twice over the PA system, no one responded. And there were definitely more than 3 carts behind me, and I was already third in line. Possibly there wasn't anyone else there? Makes one think they are short staffed purely for profit. I don't see any signs that they are hiring, so they must not be short staffed, possibly just hours cut for the staff they do have. I don't mind going through the self checkout for a few items, but there is no room to bag your own groceries when you have a full cart. I have brought this issue up to the store previously, possibly to the Manager. I thought that was the best way to voice my concerns. Now I'm trying yelp. read more

I stopped at the Monument Safeway to pickup some flowers for a dinner I was going tonight. Ashley in the floral department was absolutely rude! The flowers were jammed into buckets of water that were so full that when you took out a bouquet of the flowers water came rushing out. I was looking for flowers that were not all crushed since they were jammed into the buckets. Ashley came over to me yelling NO NO NO. I really thought she was joking. Ashley told me that getting water on other flowers will kill them. Not sure how all the flowers survive when it rains... Also Ashley stated in a very rude way that I need to pull the bouquet out of the buckets and hold them over the buckets to drain. Never once did Ashley ask if she could help me with the flowers. I have lived in Monument for 20 years and have been a customer of the Monument Safeway for all these years. Never have I had such terrible service. I did speak with the manager on duty Kenny, he was very apologetic. read more

I was in the checkout line at Safeway in Castle Rock yesterday. In full view of God and all, tall, thin, blondish employee blew his nose and put the tissue into his pocket. He then went back to handling food. Haven't heard of the flew and Corona Virus? At the least Safeway should require special health concerns training for all employees. Overal safeway is a solid grocery store with solid options for the drugstore section as well. I do not buy many medicinal items regularly but when I do I will not hesitate to check here. They do not have a large selection of organic home remedies but there is other stores for that. read more

Update: I have stopped shopping here because the lines are insane. Save yourself the hassle. The lines!! They are consistently understaffed. Been here in the evening and middle of day and there are always long checkout lines. Overall store and food selection is great but the staffing shortage is bad enough I'm not sure I'll continue shopping here. Too many other strong competitors in town who don't make you wait 15 minutes in line. read more

Had to pop in to have lab work done today at Quest Diagnostics and then decided a Starbucks pumpkin scone and latte was in order after having my arm poked; what a surprise to be be greeted by such a brightly renovated and much roomier in-store Starbucks! Yay! The only other Starbucks in town is small and tired and I've never liked heading there for my caffeine fixes, so my Starbucks card has been lonely and empty of late... but it's been recharged and is eager to do the job for which it was created! read more

This review is primarily for the Floral Department. We stopped here on the way to visit friends in Colorado Springs, and realized we would like to take some flowers with us. They had a nice selection of fresh arrangements with and without the final dressing in a vase. We opted for a loose bunch of mixed yellow flowers, and they were a big hit. read more

I have to say that for the 20 years I have lived in Monument, Safeway has never been my favorite store. It was convenient to go to Safeway today so when I entered the store I was greeted by an employee in full Safeway garb looking like she was supposed to welcome customers but as I walked past she just stood there looking toward the door. Above her was a sign "Welcome to our new reopened store." Hey great. The store fnally cares about their customers. I did my shopping and headed to checkout. What do I find? At the cubicle for self checkout, there wee six customers with loaded carts trying to get in. I proceeded down to regular check out and found the only one regular checkout open and with eight customers standing in line. From my perspective, if you are welcoming customers to the "newly reopened" store, it would probably be nice if they could checkout. If you can't afford to have checkers available for customers to pay, maybe you should close your doors. I left my cart and went to King Soope's. Not all bad news though. I saved about $25 on my shopping by leaving Safeway. I used to shop at Safeway when they made their own chips. They stopped as directed by Corporate. I asked why and no response. If you don't care about your customers why are you in business? I guess I answered my own question. They really aren't in business. Go elsewhere and get better service, respect and save money. read more

I was seriously wowed when I walked into the Safeway today! It's fabulous and gorgeous! My only complaint is that I didn't see any employees roaming the aisles. I did find the butcher behind the meat counter, and the pharmacist at the pharmacy. Plenty of aisles were open and check out was super quick. read more

I really believe this store is going out of business. I have emailed Safeway corporate as I have given up on talking with the store manager. In the last 5 years this store has become filthy. There are NEVER enough, if any, small carts and baskets by either door. I am never able to buy everything on my list as there are always areas on the shelves that are not stocked. The produce is always bad. The precut veggie trays are always rotten. The last time I went the yogurt was over 2 weeks expired! I used to hate King Soopers but now I drive to King Soopers and only use the Safeway in Monument like a convenience store. read more

Do not shop here if you have any plans. They removed their self checkouts several months ago citing that "corporate thinks that customers want interaction", and that they would bring on more checkers. Not true. My goal is to get in and out quickly, not have conversations. The lines seem to be at least 2-3 people deep given any time of day, and I have NEVER seen all stations open.. I've been shopping here for 12 years, even though the prices overall are slightly elevated compared to other local grocery stores - because of convenience. But, I will now be taking my business to King Soopers....MANY self checkouts, plus all stations open as soon as there is a line more than one. Safeway now has a policy of checking your ID if you spend more than $100 and pay with a credit card. After shopping here for over 13 years they now no longer trust me to but a weeks worth of groceries. No problem, as a King Soopers is nearby and I will shop there from now on. read more

Self checkout kiosk was malfunctioning and wouldn't list the item after the kiosk recognized the bar code by "beeping". Employee assisted several times to reset kiosk. Employee then blamed it on me verses the kiosk malfunctioning. At one point, while bagging an item, the kiosk malfunctioned and called for help. He came over and stated I pressed a button to cause the kiosk to go on the fritz. I explained I didn't press anything, and he argued with me. He then laughed at me and walked away. The kiosk wouldn't allow me to pay, he took his time to come back over so I could pay to leave. While leaving, he stated in a sarcastic tone, "Have a nice day." I went to management to complain and they wanted details as if they didn't believe me. I baffles my mind how employees feel the need to treat customers with disrespect knowing our business contributes to their paycheck. I don't like to shop here due to rude employees to begin with, but it was on the way home. Today was the end of my business here. read more

I have been going to this safeway for over 25 years and only because it is closer to my house. I would much rather go to King soopers on Baptist. This store is managed like a very small safeway in which people have no where else to go! They have never improved their customer service in 25 years and the people who work their act like you are doing them a favor! Also for 25 years they have sold expired food! Produce, bagged vegetables, lunch meats etc. I have complained to corporate many times but it still has not changed. So be warned LOOK AT EXPIRATION DATES before you buy. ALso prices are about 30% higher than king soopers. The store is way over due for an update! Bakery does not make anything fresh ! They bake the frozen French bread if you want to call that fresh. Everything else is frozen and thawed and not a very good variety. Not on bread either. Go to Safeway in Castlesrock off of Plum creek, now that is what a safeway should look like! lots of bakery and bread selection, nice clean store and friendly workers! read more

I moved to this area in 5 years ago and started going to the Safeway in Monument at that time. It was wonderful for the first 2 years and has steadily gone down hill. I have been a Safeway customer all my life. The Monument store is much closer to my home & in the direction I commute. I so rarely use this store now and when I shop here I use it only as a convenience store for quick in/out. Let me tell you why as I went this morning around 10am and this trip was no different than any other, but the final straw for me. As usual there were no small carts in the store and no hand baskets near either door (same thing happens at even 7am) so I had to go back outside for a small cart. As usual, the produce was disgusting. The pre-cut veggie plates by the door ALL had cauliflower with brown spots, broccoli that was already flowered, celery dried out and brown. I went to the produce section and finally found a veggie plate with just a few brown spotted cauliflower, broccoli with some flowered but not all, but this took going through every option. I've stopped asking for a fresh one from the back or a freshly prepared one because they just hide the brown spots on the bottom. The shelves in each isle I went had large areas not stocked. The pickled food section was half empty with no pickled okra stocked and I wanted pickled okra. I stood there looking and looking and 3 male employees walked down the isle laughing and talking that they all wore the same blue shirt color that day, ignored me, and one was who I believe is the store accountant and perhaps a manager or at least a senior employee. Lights do no work in the frozen food section whenever I go and today was no different. I wanted a breakfast pastry and there were literally NO donuts stocked, most of the bakery tables were half empty, there were no cinnamon rolls or iced breakfast rolls, there were no fresh pastry or breads of any type out. I next looked for a piece for german chocolate cake and there were 3 to chose from. One was only 1/2 iced, the other 2/3 iced and the other looked like it had been cut with a pitch fork. I next went to get pre-made salad in the deli. The samples were dried out and the cole slaw was 3/4 empty sitting in way too much fluid. The person behind that counter ignored me. I next went to the hot food section in the deli thinking I'd get chicken so not have to cook later but this person ignored me too as I stood there. Then I went to the hot buffett and thought I'd pick my own chicken but there was NOTHING out to put the food into - no boxes or trays or anything. Then I went to the staffed lane that was 3 people deep with employees standing around who could have opened another lane. So, I went to the self check out (Safeway finally got smart enough to reinstall these). As checking out I asked another employee if there was a manager in the store that I could talk to and he tried to ignore my question, I repeated it, and he was very snotty then asked a bagger if someone was available (I did not catch the name) and then stated 2 names, saying "either one will do". As he was saying this I put the veggie tray back in my basket after of course paying for it and the lid popped off spilling the contents. This wasn't even taped shut! At this point the male employee smirked, paused and then said do you want another one? Of course I'd want another one as why would I want the contents that spilled all over a filthy cart (they never powerwash carts or baskets). And, I had already picked through all the pre-cut veggie plates and that one was the only edible non-spoiled plate. At that point I looked at the employee and told him, "Forget it. This store just gets worse and is no better than a convenience store". I walked out. Many months ago I talked with another new store Manager - there have been over 3 in the time I have lived here. The last one was rude and did not care. This store is filthy!! I will never ever be back in this store unless it is just for the Starbucks! read more
