Finally, after he had cleared his throat a few times and didn't walk away, she made eye contact and said, "Sorry, we're closed." My husband pointed out that it wasn't even 4 o'clock. She said, "We don't have any closers." I understand being short-staffed, so I'm not as upset about that as I am about the fact that she allowed him to just stand there and tried to ignore him. Apparently, she didn't think his time was valuable, and she used his patience against her. And yes, she saw him.

We had to substitute items for what they didn't have and they added the most expensive substitutes, driving the price of our bill up by $70, which they charged to our credit card. (we get cash back). We called 4 times, and were hung up on, treated rudely, put on hold for a half hour, given another number to call which put us into an automation loop, until after 2 hours of working on it we FINALLY got a manager to help. I'm so discouraged in this store. I go to Safeway instead of Walmart because they're Union and it's a slap in the face to get treated like this. Do better.

The store has some really great employees who are friendly and genuinely seem to care about helping…read morecustomers, or at least engage positively, which is always appreciated. Some staff members, however, aren't as engaged or willing to assist. It's a bit frustrating when you ask for help and get an attitude or are interrupted mid-sentence as if your request isn't important. Separately, but just as important, the expression "excuse me" should also be used when an employee steps directly in front of or suddenly pushes their stock cart in the immediate path of a customer's stride. Being brought to an abrupt stop to be met with only silence and a stare resonates as explicit rudeness. Customer service should always be a priority. :) It's disappointing when the experience feels less than professional. If you're not willing to give the job the respect it deserves, perhaps it's time for a change. Would be three stars, if not for the water that was ponding in the produce section. Overall, a less than mixed experience.

Because there were people using or who appeared under the influence of questionable substances. Is it a homeless shelter? Because there were people loitering on the ground. Nope, dear reader. It's a Safeway store. But is it living up to its name? The abstract encounters customers happen upon make for a very un safe way of feeling. This store is an embarrassment. It feels genuinely dangerous. The pharmacy ladies are rude. And why were canines parading through a couple aisles over? These were not service animals. I won't be returning, but I suppose the store could be recommended if you want to revel in what a grocery store experience should not be.
