I started shopping here after QFC closed. I bought their fried chicken family meal that's on sale on Monday's and ended up with severe food poisoning last night. This grocery store was absolutely clean and organized beautifully. I was kind of concerned by the sketchy parking lot of different people but when I got inside the grocery store, it was beautiful and clean. I was quite impressed. I would return back to grocery store. They're the only ones that I can find the Snapple drinks at., the staff seemed so nice and our cashier made me smile. Today, I experienced a frustrating incident while shopping at your store. A manager at the self-checkout double-charged my card on a few minor items and was unnecessarily rude. I was made to walk back and forth between the register and self-checkout, and the manager spoke to us in a loud, disrespectful manner, particularly unprofessional and horrible customer service she didn't even consider that I was with my baby and mother in law making it even more embarrassing and awkward not just for us but for everyone around. I understand that mistakes happen, but I believe that ALL customers deserve respect regardless of race! I expect better from such a well known brand! read more

This Safeway location is THE WORST. You spend more time there sifting through expired goods than you do actually doing any shopping. Yogurts expired by two weeks, milk expired by 9 days, moldy basil, moldy carrots, expired bread, gray steaks - all in just today's visit. Ever since they changed the name and adopted a few different employees, this store has become absolutely disgusting. Andrew and Vicki are the only ones whose lines I'll go through anymore. They seem to be the only competent employees there, besides Armin in the produce section. The girl in the deli who walks with an obvious limp, wears a lot of makeup and has dark hair is just awful. I heard her badmouthing customers to other employees today, and I've never seen anyone try so hard to avoid helping customers - every single times I'm there. She absolutely WILL NOT help anyone at the meat or cheese counter. She will purposely skip past people who have been waiting in line for extended amounts of time to help someone who is at the chicken hot case, presumably because it's "easier". She has no shame. Today, I saw her see me walk up, then she avoided eye contact after that, walked past me at least four times, never greeting me, pretending to not see me, then went to help a man who had just walked up to the hot case seconds earlier. Last time, she left me standing there for minutes, and then went to help three people at the hot case who were after me. The first guy said "She was first" and pointed at me, to which she responded, "She's being helped". She was very aware that I had not been helped. I continued waiting after she helped man after man, until she was forced to finally help me after everyone else was gone. If the manager sees this and has cameras, go watch her. 4/7/22 around 2:45ish pm. This happens every single time with this employee. Once Alex saw me standing there, he came over right away. I could tell he knew exactly what was going on. He's the only one in the deli who actually wants to do his job. What a joke. If you must shop here, make sure you throughly inspect your food first, and check the dates as well. read more

Amazing Safeway in my opinion. Good selection, pretty clean, vegetables and meats are usually in pretty good condition, the cakes are great, and the employees have been super nice and welcoming! The clerks/cashier at self checkout even recognizes me as a regular. The cherry on top is that the bathrooms are better than 99% of retail places in the area despite it being a Safeway. read more

This used to be Albertsons, and when it was, it was considered the worst grocery store in Mill Creek. How things have changed. Safeway remodeled it and now I don't think that we really have a worst store in Mill Creek. Safeway has really stepped up and turned this grocery store around. It's still not 'fancy' like Central Market, but that's okay, it's just a good, well stocked, clean, professional, nicely merchandised grocery store that has everything I'm looking for minus the lobster in tanks they have down the street. (A very rare need) As far as the savings, I think it's substantial. I use my Club Card and before I go shopping I log onto my Safeway account and click onto the coupons that are appropriate for what I buy. I usually get cash off my bill too. I encourage everyone who shops at Safeway to do this. When I first created an online account at Safeway I was pretty amazed at the amount of cash I'd been basically throwing away by not creating an online account. We're talking cash, not just coupons. So good job Safeway. You're a vast improvement over Albertsons and I'm glad you're in Mill Creek. read more

Went back to this Safeway yesterday to pick up just a couple of items. The same produce clerk I delt with before now doesn't even bother wearing his mask correctly himself. I see why he was offended that I would bring up customers not wearing masks now. I work retail as well and know that it is difficult to wear a mask for your 8 hour shift but god damn it take it off in the back room not the sales floor. read more

Once again, this Safeway continues to disappoint. The sale prices listed on the shelves were not given at the register, and neither was the Safeway 4 U pricing that I took the time to add to my account. Also, the produce scales are vastly underweight to what the register scales say. I went through self check out, and not only was their pricing wrong on every item I bought, but the staff were too busy to adjust my bill. (I didn't have time to wait in line). I was in the store this morning. As usual I see staff members only wearing a face shield but no mask. With the local mandates on mask in local businesses, I couldn't understand how this could be possible. I came home and filled out an online complaint. Shortly after that, I got a phone call from the manager. He stated to me that if an employee has a medical reason not to wear a mask, they are exempt from the mask mandate. Working in the ICU with Covid patients, I am shocked! If I told my hospital that I had a doctor's note to not wear a mask, they would tell me to stay home, due to the risk I would be to my patients, their families, and my coworkers. We wear mask to protect people around us. Only wearing a face shield is ineffective, inconsiderate, and ignorant!! I am completely stunned! read more

I am giving Safeway/Albertsons in Mill Creek, WA 1 star for no other reason than their French Bread. Safeway 'used to' have the 'best' French Bread ever until Albertson's purchased them. They made it perfect where you couldn't stop at just one slice. Then about a week ago, I had a craving for Safeway's French Bread until I bought and took a bite of their bread and after a few bites, threw it away. I was upset wondering what happened until I remembered how years ago, I wanted some French Bread, was very close to Albertson's and tasted their 'morbid' bread which I never purchased it again. I realized that they thew away Safeway's recipe and brought their own disgusting crap. The first time I bought the bread from Safeway (after Albertson's purchased them) and I thought it had to be a mistake. A one-time event, the second time I thought the same, but the third time I realized what the problem was...it wasn't a mistake and as mentioned above, they threw away the recipe. Safeway/Albertson's French Bread has a shiny crust (like too much egg wash and it doesn't break apart and crackle like it's supposed to). It tastes very starchy and doughy. I had guest over for dinner, and no one could eat that bread and were amazed that it was Safeway's bread. I know, long story but it's upsetting when you loved their bread and now it's gone. read more

Finding Fresh Meat, and I use this term loosely, is not something you would expect to be a problem at a Safeway store, but today I was so disgusted with what I found I nearly puked! I can understand maybe one slightly past-date "fresh meat" product on the shelf, but three! One of them was over a month from its sell date and the other 2 over a week! I was shocked and horrified. I took the offending products to the butcher on duty, and he said nothing, just took it back behind the counter. I worry about people not paying attention to what they buy and getting sick, but this is the stores responsibility and there is no excuse for this type of neglect. Fantastic overhaul of what used to be Albertsons of course when I was fairly younger with my family as we went there frequently and were basically regulars to the point where the staff knew us. For anyone new to the area or to anyone who has doubts that this new incarnation of a grocery store doesn't have room to surprise you then you must be mistaken. The staff are kind and courteous compared to say Walmart on 164th ST as the staff and people in mill creek are just wonderful human beings in general and make you feel welcome even if you aren't the town's mayor. Heck I'd even consider working here that's how great the store is with the fresh choices of food that can range from sandwiches to calzones there's pretty much no way you can find to go meals to pack for lunch to school or work. I have constantly purchased many items from this place that are well beyond their expiration date. Safeway tea, powdered Gatorade, and hot sauce just to name a few. Usually I wouldn't take the time to write a review for a grocery store, but for this woman JESSICA, who works the cash register (and maybe other depts) I HAVE TO. She is so insanely helpful and CAREFUL when bagging my groceries, and I really truly appreciate it. A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I had gone shopping and purchased about 400$ worth of food, I was so nervous to go to the register because I felt horrible for the cashier having to deal with us and all of our stuff...I get anxiety about things like that, I don't care if it's "their job" (lol, there's a younger guy who works the front too, and he is MEAN) so as we walked up I said to him "go to HER I think she'll be nicer" and boy was I right, she was SO friendly and told us she loves bigger orders, she was so careful and thoughtful bagging it all too, unlike the kid who literally THROWS our things across the belt. She was a delight to talk to! I hope she's there when we go back next. Give that woman a raise. read more

Safeway consistently delivers very poor quality fruit. I just waited 10 days for the rock-like mangos to ripen. I kept checking them every day to see how they were doing. Finally, I felt them soften (a tiny bit) and I checked them. Truly awful. They had no juice and almost no sweetness. The skin was almost impossible to remove and a 'greyness' was forming under the leathery skin. And avocados? Don't get me started on how bad they tend to be. I consider myself lucky to get a good avocado from them. They, too, are rock hard when you buy them. If they feel a little soft, it usually due to bruising. Forget strawberries. They are always, always sour. Even in summer- I see they are from California- why? We have so many local strawberry farms that sell the most sumptuous strawberries in the summer! ugh. If I shop personally, I can usually pick good fruit there- but you need to spend a lot of time finding the good ones. Now, I've been using Instart shoppers to pick and delivery my groceries. Bad every time. Those shoppers have no idea or inclination to pick good fruit. They should have better produce so that it doesn't require an expert to find the diamond in the rough. I know the quality of shopper is an Instacart problem- but it's Safeway's too. The other kicker is that Safeway adds an extra charge to every food item they sell when you order it through a delivery app. Just sick of it all. I think I'm done with Safeway. read more

Rude! I said, "Hi" to two employees & one pop delivery man. Both employees glared at me for some reason & ignored my polite greeting. Two other employees seem to pop up in every other isle I was in. No one asked me if I needed help when I was looking around. The only thing I can think of is they thought I was going to steal something due to my personal clothing choices, or my black lives matter hat. Either way, very rude employees.
