This girl works harder at getting out of work than anyone I've ever witnessed.

This Safeway location is THE WORST. You spend more time there sifting through expired goods than you do actually doing any shopping. Yogurts expired by two weeks, milk expired by 9 days, moldy basil, moldy carrots, expired bread, gray steaks - all in just today's visit. Ever since they changed the name and adopted a few different employees, this store has become absolutely disgusting. Andrew and Vicki are the only ones whose lines I'll go through anymore. They seem to be the only competent employees there, besides Armin in the produce section. The girl in the deli who walks with an obvious limp, wears a lot of makeup and has dark hair is just awful. I heard her badmouthing customers to other employees today, and I've never seen anyone try so hard to avoid helping customers - every single times I'm there. She absolutely WILL NOT help anyone at the meat or cheese counter. She will purposely skip past people who have been waiting in line for extended amounts of time to help someone who is at the chicken hot case, presumably because it's "easier". She has no shame. Today, I saw her see me walk up, then she avoided eye contact after that, walked past me at least four times, never greeting me, pretending to not see me, then went to help a man who had just walked up to the hot case seconds earlier. Last time, she left me standing there for minutes, and then went to help three people at the hot case who were after me. The first guy said "She was first" and pointed at me, to which she responded, "She's being helped". She was very aware that I had not been helped. I continued waiting after she helped man after man, until she was forced to finally help me after everyone else was gone. If the manager sees this and has cameras, go watch her. 4/7/22 around 2:45ish pm. This happens every single time with this employee. Once Alex saw me standing there, he came over right away. I could tell he knew exactly what was going on. He's the only one in the deli who actually wants to do his job. What a joke. If you must shop here, make sure you throughly inspect your food first, and check the dates as well.

Yup, I saved $146.16.  Tip:  Use your points before the end of the month or they expire.

This used to be Albertsons, and when it was, it was considered the worst grocery store in Mill Creek. How things have changed. Safeway remodeled it and now I don't think that we really have a worst store in Mill Creek. Safeway has really stepped up and turned this grocery store around. It's still not 'fancy' like Central Market, but that's okay, it's just a good, well stocked, clean, professional, nicely merchandised grocery store that has everything I'm looking for minus the lobster in tanks they have down the street. (A very rare need) As far as the savings, I think it's substantial. I use my Club Card and before I go shopping I log onto my Safeway account and click onto the coupons that are appropriate for what I buy. I usually get cash off my bill too. I encourage everyone who shops at Safeway to do this. When I first created an online account at Safeway I was pretty amazed at the amount of cash I'd been basically throwing away by not creating an online account. We're talking cash, not just coupons. So good job Safeway. You're a vast improvement over Albertsons and I'm glad you're in Mill Creek.

We stayed out of the middle aisles, shopping on the edges. The last time we were in, the original sushi people were gone, replaced by some run of the mill contractor with fishy tasting garbage. This time, prices were unbelievable. We all know that Covid affected the supply chain and things got expensive. The supply chain has been fine for awhile, yet everything is ridiculously expensive. I am not poor. I think I have a relatively decent income. When I mentioned that I was likely to stop including this store as a regular option, I was met with death stares. Seriously? We were followed to our car and asked to not come back. Seriously? I actually went back inside and took photos of the staff running away from me. We weren't violent. We didn't cuss. We weren't loud. We just called you out for being a money-hungry conglomerate charging as much as the richest customer will pay. You should be ashamed at how exclusionary your store really is. And obviously your staff isn't trained on anything remotely close to empathy. If they were, there attitude would have been much better. Effen Mill Creek snobs.

In long Maybe it's just me, but it seems like they used to stock a much wider variety of specialty produce (among other things) here. The shelves and cases are all still full, and the quality is good. But you used to walk through here and see at least half a dozen things that practically no other stores had on hand. They still have good stuff, though--no doubt. The bakery section was super tempting, and there were dozens of choices among meat, fish, and poultry. The produce section is really big for this size of store--imagine if Trader Joe's focused on fruit and veg instead of snacks and frozen stuff, and you have a general picture of the ratio. Prices are a bit higher here than TJ, but not unreasonable. Quality is very good (esp. on produce). There are long aisles of shelf-stable condiments, packaged stuff, tons of spices. They definitely aim first at the home cooks who think of themselves as home cooks, and secondly at the folks who just know they need good groceries. Beer and wine are just a few basics, maybe half a small aisle. They had a few solid manager's specials going today, and the staff were all very nice (if not very bubbly). I'd happily shop here if I didn't have to drive past half a dozen other supermarkets that are all good options. So, I'd shop here if I lived in Mill Creek, essentially.

Their stores are all warehouse style without personality; I am perfectly good with that. I don't expect service, not even a smile. I don't expect to find staff to help with anything. For me, their two most enticing departments remain to be their produce area and bulk foods. We can spend an hour just in these two departments. For produce, we load up on salad items and fruits. The veggies including broccoli tend to be meh; the reason is that everything is straight from the carton without trimming. No hate, just the facts. That is how they keep the cost low. I go elsewhere for veggie greens (except salad lettuce). As for bulk foods, this area is a treasure trove - great selection, good prices, and tends to have good turnaround so the products are fresh. For this most recent first visit to the Everett location, I finally noticed how they label their 'sale' items. Look for green 'Extra Savings' signs. They don't stand out and are not visually eye-catching. Things are simply there in seemingly extra volume. I scored a liter size bottle of Valentina hot sauce for only $2.68. Starkist tuna cans were on sale for $0.88, lower than the typical grocery store sale of $0.99, plus they had the low sodium version in stock. We bought a case of 24. Anyway, go for the prices; don't expect service or ambiance. Winco can be the best. Oh, and they open 24 hours! BUT, no credit cards. Debit, EBT, or cash only.

Walking in, the ambiance is essentially "Costco: Industrial Edition." It's a massive warehouse of pure, unadulterated grocery chaos. While I wasn't exactly blown away by the prices on the name-brand items, the WinCo house brand is practically a steal--often half the cost! The real showstopper, however, is the bulk bin section. It takes up at least a quarter of the entire store. You could legitimately get lost in there and start a new life among the quinoa and gummy bears. A word to the wise: WinCo is strictly "Cash or Debit only." I was blissfully unaware of this little quirk until I reached the register, and I narrowly escaped a walk of shame only because I happened to have some cash on me. Consider yourself warned!
